Israeli intelligence data: 83 percent of Gaza victims are civilians

Reports from an internal Israeli intelligence database have revealed that at least 83 percent of the Palestinians who were martyred in the Israeli attack on Gaza were civilians. This investigation, conducted by several media outlets, including 972+ magazine, Local Call website, and The Guardian newspaper, shows a significant discrepancy between the official figures provided by the occupying army and the documented realities.

According to the confidential data, the number of civilian martyrs far exceeds the figures announced by the occupying army, which claimed that the ratio of civilian to militant casualties was 1:1 or 2:1. However, the investigation showed that 83% of the victims were civilians, indicating that the official numbers were misleading.

By May, after 19 months of the war's onset, Israeli intelligence officials listed the names of 8,900 fighters from Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad as killed, while the total number of Palestinian martyrs reached 53,000 according to health authorities in Gaza. This means that the mentioned fighters constituted only 17% of the total deaths.

The reports indicate that the ratio of civilian to militant casualties in Gaza is extremely high compared to modern wars, reflecting a significant failure in the military operations conducted by the occupying state. The credibility of Palestinian health data has been confirmed by several parties, including the Israeli army.

Since the beginning of the war, Israeli officials have sought to deny accusations of indiscriminate killing, but the increasing numbers of Palestinian martyrs indicated otherwise. In December 2023, an Israeli army spokesperson stated that the occupation killed two civilians for every one militant, but as the number of martyrs rose to 35,000 in May 2024, the head of the occupying government admitted that the ratio was closer to 1:1.

The fluctuations in the official numbers of militants that the occupation claimed to have killed were notable, with the figures oscillating irrationally. In November 2023, a security official claimed that the occupation killed more than 10,000 militants, but this number decreased in subsequent assessments.

The investigations also revealed cases where civilians were recorded as killed militants, reflecting a culture of deceit within the occupying army. Some officers also indicated that most of the reported numbers do not reflect the actual reality.
