A high-ranking Egyptian source said on Friday that Cairo will receive a delegation from Hamas tomorrow, Saturday, to discuss developments in the truce situation in the Gaza Strip.
In this context, a Hamas official confirmed to Reuters that its delegation will visit Cairo tomorrow, Saturday.
Earlier, Egyptian security sources told Reuters that the Director of US Intelligence, William Burns, is in Cairo to hold meetings regarding the Gaza Strip.
Egypt has been seeking to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip since the start of the aggression 7 months ago.
Al-Ghad's correspondent quoted Egyptian sources as saying that the Hamas delegation will join the Cairo meetings next Sunday.
Egypt renewed its efforts to revive negotiations late last month. Cairo is concerned about the possibility of Israel carrying out a ground operation in Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip, where more than a million people are taking refuge near the border with Egypt.
Mediators say they are awaiting Hamas' response to the latest version of a proposal for an agreement that includes a ceasefire and the release of Israelis detained in the Strip.
