Washington requests clarifications from Israel regarding the killing of its citizen in the West Bank

The US State Department asked Israel for clarifications regarding the killing of its citizen in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.

A statement by the US State Department stressed the work to uncover the circumstances of the killing of the American citizen.

She indicated that a request had been submitted to the Israeli authorities to provide them with more information about the killing of the American citizen.

American citizen Tawfiq Hafez Hijazi, 17 years old, was killed on Friday by Israeli forces east of the city of Ramallah in the central West Bank.

The official Palestinian News Agency reported, citing a source at the Palestine Medical Complex in Ramallah, that “Tawfiq was hit by a bullet in the head, and his injury was described as critical, before his death was announced.”

Despite Israel's claims that its military operations only target members of the Hamas movement, it has killed 369 and wounded 3,500 Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem since last October 7.
