Egyptian source: There is no truth to what the Israeli Foreign Minister said about Egypt’s responsibility for closing the Rafah crossing

Today, Tuesday, a high-ranking Egyptian source denied what the Occupation Foreign Minister, Yisrael Katz, said about Egypt’s responsibility for closing the Rafah crossing.

The source explained, in statements to Al-Ghad, that the closure of the crossing came due to the unjustified escalation carried out by Israel in the Palestinian city of Rafah.

The source added that Cairo informed Tel Aviv of the danger of continuing to prevent humanitarian aid from entering the Gaza Strip.

Katz had claimed that Egypt was responsible for closing the crossing, and wrote on his account on the "The International Cooperation Council went to Gaza, and today I will discuss the matter with the Italian Foreign Minister."

Katz added: “The world places responsibility for the humanitarian situation on Israel, but the key to preventing a humanitarian crisis in Gaza is now in the hands of our Egyptian friends.”

He continued: “Hamas will not control the Rafah crossing, and this is a security necessity that we will not give up on.”

Gaza faces annihilation

The occupation continues its bombing of various areas of the Gaza Strip, for the 221st day, leaving hundreds of martyrs and wounded.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced on Tuesday that the death toll from the Israeli aggression on the Strip since October 7 had risen to 35,173 martyrs, the majority of whom were women and children, and 79,61 were injured.

The ministry said, in a statement, that during the past 24 hours, the occupation committed 7 massacres against entire families in the Gaza Strip, claiming 57 martyrs and 82 injuries.

The Ministry added that there are still a number of victims under the rubble and on the roads, and the occupation prevents ambulance and civil defense crews from reaching them.
