A Palestinian man died on Tuesday night after Israeli forces delayed an ambulance transferring him to a new hospital through a checkpoint in occupied Jerusalem.
According to the Jerusalem Governorate, Israeli occupation forces at az-Za'ayyem checkpoint impeded the transfer of Munadel Ahmed Jabareen from Al Makassed's center in Abu Dis to the Al-Makassed Hospital in Jerusalem for more than half an hour. Jabareen, already in a critical condition, died after he was unable to receive first aid.
The governorate said that Jabareen suffered from a chronic heart conditions and had undergone several operations in the past. At the checkpoint, the Palestinian Red Crescent ambulance could not persuade occupation soldiers to allow him to enter.
On their part, Israeli soldiers claimed that the trip was "not coordinated" with the authorities.
