Cairo – Leaders of the Hamas and Islamic Jihad arrived in Cairo to meet with the heads of the Egyptian intelligence service on Wednesday.
The two delegations arriving from the Gaza Strip will meet separately with the leadership of the Egyptian intelligence agency to discuss many issues, including security issues related to the Israeli occupation.
The Islamic Jihad delegation will go later to Beirut to hold internal meetings.
Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas' Political Bureau, will head the Islamic movement's delegation.
It remains unknown whether Secretary-General of Islamic Jihad Ziyad al-Nakhalah, who lives outside of Palestine, would head his movement's contingent.
Egypt mediated a ceasefire between Islamic Jihad and Israel earlier in May in a round of fighting that left 33 Palestinians and two Israelis dead.
