Russian drones targeted the strategic port city of Odessa in Ukraine , city authorities said early Tuesday, citing "damage".
"The enemy has just targeted Odessa and its region with attack drones," a statement issued by the city's local authorities posted on Facebook said, adding, "There is damage," without providing further details.
The statement quoted Yuriy Krok, head of the military administration of the Odessa region, as saying that Ukraine's air defense forces were operating, warning of the possibility of a second wave of attacks. No further details were provided immediately.
The Black Sea port of Odessa was a favorite holiday destination for Ukrainians and Russians alike before the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February of last year, and since the invasion Odessa has been bombed several times by Russian forces.
In January, the United Nations' UNESCO warned that the World Heritage-listed city center of Odessa was in danger.
