China succeeded in sending a new test satellite into space on Wednesday evening, from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China.
The Xian-19 satellite was launched at 7:41 p.m. Wednesday (Beijing time) on a Long March-11 carrier rocket, and successfully entered the planned orbit.
The said satellite will be mainly used for earth resource surveying, urban planning, disaster prevention and mitigation, and other tasks.
The launch of the satellite is the 467th mission of the Long March series of carrier rockets.
