London - (AFP) - The euro's exchange rate hit its lowest level against the dollar in five years on Wednesday, at a time when the US currency is benefiting from its status as a safe haven amid economic turmoil and the US Federal Reserve is raising interest rates.
The exchange rate of the single European currency fell to $1.0588, its lowest level since April 2017.
