Jakarta - (dpa) - A zookeeper was killed in an attack by a Bengal tiger, after the keeper gave the animal food at a wildlife park in Indonesia's Central Java province, an official said Monday.
Zoo director Lulut Yekte said keeper Doi Prasetia was cleaning the tiger enclosure at Sirolingmas Wildlife Park after feeding it when it was attacked by the animal on Sunday.
“The employee was performing his routine work when the accident occurred… The management is imposing standard operating procedures that our employees follow,” Yekte said.
He added that the park was temporarily closed pending an investigation into the incident.
