Child martyred in Gaza and Qassam leader assassinated amid bloody toll of child victims

A Palestinian child was martyred and another was injured with varying degrees of wounds today, Friday, as a result of an attack carried out by an Israeli 'quadcopter' drone in the eastern area of Gaza City. Medical and field sources reported that the drone directly dropped a bomb towards the two children from the Totah family while they were trying to fill water behind the Great Mosque, turning their search for a lifeline into a new tragedy.

This crime comes in the context of a series of continuous violations of the ceasefire agreement that came into effect on October 10, 2025. According to Ministry of Health data, these violations have so far led to the martyrdom of 1,059 people and the injury of approximately 3,429 others, putting international understandings to a real test in light of the ongoing targeting of civilians.

On the military front, the Israeli occupation army, in cooperation with the 'Shin Bet' agency, announced the assassination of Muhammad Naeem Jundiya, who holds the position of head of military security in the Shuja'iyya Battalion of the Al-Qassam Brigades. The military statement stated that the operation took place last Wednesday in the northern Gaza Strip, without providing precise details about the location or the mechanism used in the attack.

In its statement, the occupation claimed that Jundiya was one of the prominent participants in the events of October 7, 2023, specifically the attack on the 'Nahal Oz' settlement. He was also directly accused of responsibility for the capture of Captain Daniel Peretz, and supervising the detention of three other Israeli prisoners inside a network of tunnels in the Shuja'iyya neighborhood before their earlier deaths.

In a horrific statistic reflecting the scale of the humanitarian catastrophe, the government media office in Gaza revealed that the number of child martyrs has reached 21,500 children since the outbreak of the war. The office explained that this toll includes 520 infants who were not given time to live by the bombing, as they were born and martyred under the weight of the fires, in addition to more than a thousand children who had not yet reached their first year.

Official reports indicated that the total number of martyrs in the Strip exceeded 73,000, while the number of injured exceeded 173,000, suffering amidst the collapse of the health system. These figures confirm that civilians, especially vulnerable groups, are the primary target of military operations that have not stopped despite international pressure and demands to end the war of extermination.

Gaza City and its north suffer from a suffocating water crisis as a result of the systematic destruction of nearly 90% of the infrastructure and main networks. This bitter reality forces thousands of displaced people, including children, to travel long and dangerous distances to reach public distribution points, making them vulnerable to direct targeting by drones and snipers deployed in border areas.

The field escalation in Gaza continues despite repeated announcements of calm, as the occupation continues to carry out assassinations and concentrated targeting deep within residential neighborhoods. Observers confirm that targeting children while fetching water reflects a policy of intimidation aimed at deepening the humanitarian crisis and preventing residents from returning to their normal lives in the destroyed areas.

The occupation has killed 21,500 Palestinian children, including more than 520 infants who were born and martyred during this ongoing war.
