An Israeli soldier fired randomly in the Gaza Strip, "claiming to celebrate the new Gregorian year," on Monday.
The soldier appears in a video clip standing at a position in front of barbed wire, firing randomly from his machine gun.
A video clip spread on social media showing a soldier from the Golani Brigade documenting himself while firing randomly from a machine gun towards the Gaza Strip, claiming to celebrate the new year.
It added: "The soldier posted the video on his personal account," without further details about his identity.
It quoted the Israeli army spokesperson's office as saying that the soldier "acted contrary to orders and instructions."
The office continued: "The incident will undergo a thorough investigation, and based on its results, the necessary measures will be taken against the soldier."
Since the start of the Israeli genocide war in Gaza on October 8, 2023, Israeli soldiers have documented themselves committing widespread violations and crimes in the sector without Tel Aviv announcing any punishment for them.
With American support, the Israeli genocide in Gaza has left more than 71,000 dead and 171,000 injured, mostly children and women, and destruction affecting 90 percent of the civilian infrastructure, with reconstruction costs estimated by the United Nations at about 70 billion dollars.
On October 10, a ceasefire between the "Hamas" movement and Israel came into effect, but the latter violates it daily, resulting in the killing of 420 Palestinians and the injury of 1,184, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry in the sector on Sunday.
