Israel prevented the European Commissioner for Equality from entering Gaza.

The European Union Commissioner for Equality and Crisis Management, Haja Lahbib, stated that she intended to enter Gaza during her visit to Egypt, but Israel denied her request to cross.

This was mentioned in statements she made on Friday at the Rafah crossing. She pointed out that Palestinians are still being killed daily by the Israeli army, clarifying that 347 Palestinians have been killed since the ceasefire began, including 67 children.

On October 10, the first phase of the agreement came into effect, following a genocide carried out by Israel with American support against Gaza for two years since October 2023.

She added that she had planned to cross the border to see the situation in Gaza for herself, but Israel did not grant her entry permission, which saddened her greatly, noting that Gaza has turned into a graveyard for thousands of civilians, including relief workers.

She stated that about 600 aid workers have been killed while trying to save lives in one of the most dangerous places on Earth, adding that thousands of families in Gaza are living among the rubble without shelter or protection from the coming winter cold, warning that experts expect a catastrophic winter.

She reiterated the necessity of continuing the ceasefire and adhering to international law as the only way to protect civilians.

She said that it is necessary to move from the first phase to the second phase, which includes disarming Hamas and releasing the remaining prisoners.

She noted that the delivery of some aid to Palestinians in Gaza has begun, but this is not enough, emphasizing the need to open all crossings.

The Israeli genocide in Gaza has left more than 69,000 dead and 170,000 injured Palestinians, most of whom are children and women, along with massive destruction, with the cost of reconstruction estimated by the United Nations at about $70 billion.
