The Secretary-General of the Lebanese "Hezbollah," Naeem Qassem, criticized U.S. President Donald Trump's plan regarding Gaza on Saturday, considering it serves the project of "Greater Israel."
Qassem's remarks came in a televised speech broadcast by the "Al-Manar" channel affiliated with "Hezbollah" on the first anniversary of the assassination of the Israeli leaders Nabil Qawuq and Suhail Al-Husseini.
He pointed out that "Trump's plan was initially presented to some Arab countries, and after meetings (between Trump) and Netanyahu, amendments were made to fully suit Israel."
He added: "Changes were made to several points to serve the project of 'Greater Israel,' which it seeks to achieve through politics after failing to do so through aggression and massacres."
He continued: "According to Trump's plan, when the administration is in the hands of an international party, and the responsibility is taken away from the people of the land to manage their affairs, what have we achieved after all these battles?"
He further stated: "We will wait for the final word from the Palestinians, because what has been proposed is a plan and not an agreement, and nothing can happen except based on an agreement."
Hours earlier, Egyptian sources announced that Cairo would host, tomorrow Sunday, an indirect negotiation round between the Israeli and Palestinian delegations regarding the exchange of prisoners.
This came according to what the private "Cairo News" channel reported from unnamed sources, following Hamas's announcement to proceed with Trump's plan.
Since dawn on Saturday, the Israeli army has killed 49 Palestinians, including a girl, and injured others in continuous attacks on Gaza.
This comes at a time when the Israeli army radio and the official Hebrew broadcasting authority spoke about the political leadership's directive to "stop the operation to occupy the city of Gaza."
This coincided with a statement from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office, which said that Tel Aviv "is preparing, in light of Hamas's response, to implement the first phase of Trump's plan for the immediate release of all hostages."
On Friday evening, Hamas stated in a statement that it had submitted its response to Trump's plan regarding Gaza to the mediators, announcing its agreement to release all living and deceased Israeli prisoners.
It also renewed its agreement to hand over the administration of the sector to a Palestinian body of independents (technocrats) based on Palestinian national consensus.
However, it emphasized that the future of the sector and the rights of the people should be discussed within a Palestinian framework.
Tel Aviv estimates that there are 48 Israeli prisoners in Gaza, of whom 20 are alive, while about 11,100 Palestinians are imprisoned in its jails, suffering from torture, starvation, and medical neglect.
On September 29, Trump announced a plan consisting of 20 points, including: the release of Israeli prisoners in Gaza, a ceasefire, and the disarmament of Hamas.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with U.S. support, has been committing genocide in Gaza, resulting in 67,074 deaths and 169,430 injuries.
We will wait for the final word from the Palestinians, because what has been proposed is a plan and not an agreement.
