How did Netanyahu react to Trump's response to Hamas? .. This is the first comment.

The statement from the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that "Israel is preparing for the immediate implementation of the first phase of U.S. President Donald Trump's plan to release the hostages in light of Hamas's response."

The statement added that "Israel will continue to work in full cooperation with Trump and his team to end the war in Gaza according to the principles set by Israel."

The Israeli Broadcasting Authority reported that "the political level has instructed the army to reduce its activities in Gaza, limiting them to defensive purposes only."

At the same time, the American Axios website quoted an Israeli official saying that "Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was surprised by President Donald Trump's response to Hamas's statement accepting the American plan."

The Israeli official added that Netanyahu considered during consultations before Trump's announcement that Hamas's response was a rejection of the plan.

For his part, Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid said that Trump is right about the unprecedented opportunity to release the hostages and end the war.

He added that "Israel should announce its joining of the discussions led by Trump to finalize the details of the deal."

He noted that he informed the U.S. administration that Netanyahu has political support to proceed with the deal.

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Hamas has shown its willingness for a lasting peace in its response to the proposal to stop the war in Gaza.

Trump added that Israel must stop the bombing of Gaza immediately, in order to release the hostages quickly and safely.

Trump explained that the current conditions make this extremely dangerous, emphasizing that discussions are indeed ongoing regarding the details, pointing out that the issue is not just about Gaza, but about a long-awaited peace in the Middle East.

Earlier, Hamas officially announced on Friday that it had delivered its response to the U.S. President Donald Trump's plan regarding the cessation of hostilities in the Gaza Strip.

The movement stated in a statement that it agreed to President Trump's plan for a ceasefire in Gaza, and in this context, "it announces its agreement to release all prisoners of the occupation alive and deceased according to the exchange formula included in President Trump's proposal, while providing the necessary field conditions for the exchange process."

The movement confirmed its "readiness to immediately enter into negotiations through intermediaries to discuss the details of this, and it renewed its agreement to hand over the administration of the Gaza Strip to a Palestinian body of independents (technocrats) based on Palestinian national consensus and supported by Arab and Islamic backing."

It emphasized that "the other issues mentioned in President Trump's proposal concerning the future of the Gaza Strip and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people are linked to a comprehensive national position and based on relevant international laws and resolutions, and will be discussed through a comprehensive Palestinian national framework in which Hamas will be included and will contribute responsibly."
