The Israeli army attacked on Friday the last ship of the Global Solidarity Fleet and seized it while it was sailing in international waters towards the Gaza Strip.
A live broadcast from aboard the 'Marinet' ship showed moments when one of the Israeli naval boats approached it, and soldiers boarded the ship.
The fleet stated in a post on its Instagram page: 'Marinet, the last remaining ship of the Global Solidarity Fleet, was intercepted by Israeli occupation forces at 10:29 AM local time (GMT+3), approximately 42.5 nautical miles from Gaza (about 68 km).'
The fleet explained that 'over the course of 38 hours, Israeli occupation naval forces intercepted all 42 of our ships, which were carrying humanitarian aid and volunteers, determined to break the illegal Israeli blockade on Gaza.'
The fleet confirmed that the 'Marinet' ship continued to sail towards Gaza, despite Israel's seizure of 41 of the fleet's boats.
The Israeli police stated in a statement on Friday that naval forces arrested 470 participants in the fleet.
The Israeli Prison Service mentioned on Friday that about 200 activists from the fleet were interrogated, as they 'underwent a thorough search' before being transferred to detention at 'Ktsiot' prison in southern Israel.
On Thursday, the official Hebrew broadcasting authority reported that the Israeli navy managed to control 41 ships carrying about 400 participants in the fleet within 12 hours.
On Wednesday, the 'Solidarity Fleet' to break the blockade on Gaza announced via the American platform 'X' that it was attacked by about 10 Israeli ships.
The fleet issued a distress call after the Israeli army intercepted its ships in international waters, considering this escalation a 'war crime.'
The Israeli attack sparked popular protests and official condemnations observed in several countries, with calls for the release of detained activists and accountability for Tel Aviv's crimes and violations of international law.
International organizations, including 'Amnesty International,' called for protection for the 'Solidarity Fleet,' while the United Nations confirmed that the assault on it is 'unacceptable.'
Israel, the occupying power in Palestine, has previously engaged in acts of piracy against ships heading to Gaza, seizing them and deporting the activists on board.
This is the first time that dozens of ships have collectively sailed towards Gaza, home to about 2.4 million Palestinians, in a collective attempt to break the ongoing Israeli blockade on the territory for 18 years.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with American support, has been committing genocide in Gaza, resulting in 66,225 deaths and 168,938 injuries, most of whom are children and women, and a famine that has claimed the lives of 455 Palestinians, including 151 children.
The Israeli attack on the Solidarity Fleet is considered a war crime.
