Palestinian Prime Minister: We are ready to take full responsibility for Gaza.

Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa said on Tuesday that his government is ready to assume its responsibilities in the Gaza Strip and is continuing to work on unifying its institutions with those in the West Bank.

This came during his speech at the beginning of the weekly government session in Ramallah, according to a statement distributed by his office to journalists, following President Donald Trump's announcement of his plan to stop the war in Gaza.

Mustafa confirmed, "The government is prepared to take on its full national responsibilities, whether in immediate relief or in recovery and reconstruction efforts in Gaza, or in continuing the comprehensive national reforms that have been implemented for some time, in light of the State of Palestine's welcome for international efforts to stop the war and achieve peace."

On Monday, Palestine welcomed Trump's plan to stop the Israeli war in Gaza and announced its "joint commitment to work with the United States, regional countries, and partners to end the war on Gaza through a comprehensive agreement."

Trump announced—at a press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu—the main points of his plan to stop the war in Gaza, which include the release of Israeli prisoners within 72 hours, a ceasefire, and the disarmament of the "Hamas" movement.

Trump added that his plan calls for the establishment of an international supervisory body headed by him, responsible for training a governance administration in the Gaza Strip, but it excludes the "Hamas" movement and does not involve the Palestinian Authority.

Mustafa emphasized in his speech the "continuation of efforts to unify national institutions in both parts of the homeland (Gaza and the West Bank), and the applicable laws, in a way that translates all efforts into tangible reality, and enhances security and stability for our people (the Palestinians)."

The Palestinian arena has been suffering from political and geographical division since 2007, with the "Hamas" movement governing the Gaza Strip, while the West Bank is managed by governments formed by the "Fatah" movement led by Mahmoud Abbas.

The Palestinian Prime Minister continued that "the historic New York Declaration (in September) and the increasing recognitions of the State of Palestine, along with the subsequent international plans and efforts to end the war, are data that must be built upon, in order to prevent displacement and annexation and to confront attempts to undermine the Palestinian National Authority, and to solidify the path to realizing an independent Palestinian state and achieving our people's aspirations for freedom and independence."

On September 23, the "Two-State Solution Conference" held in New York, chaired by Saudi Arabia and France, adopted the "New York Declaration," which was issued from the first version of the international conference to support the two-state solution, which was also held in New York last July.

The declaration affirms the international commitment to the two-state solution and outlines an "irreversible" path to building a better future for Palestinians and Israelis and for all the peoples of the region.

With American support, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, resulting in 66,097 deaths and 168,536 injuries, most of whom are children and women, and famine that has claimed the lives of 453 Palestinians, including 150 children.

Alongside the genocide in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli army and settlers have killed at least 1,048 Palestinians in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and injured about 10,300, in addition to arresting more than 19,000, including 400 children, according to official Palestinian data.
