American efforts to renew Qatari mediation regarding Gaza

The Israeli Broadcasting Authority reported, citing sources, that the Qatari track in the negotiations has been stalled since the Israeli attack on Doha.

The sources added that U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff is trying to persuade senior officials in Qatar to resume their active role in the negotiations, noting that the United States is attempting, following President Donald Trump's speech at the United Nations today, to renew Qatar's mediation regarding Gaza.

On September 9, Israel bombed residential headquarters of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in Doha, resulting in the martyrdom of 5 Palestinians and one member of the Qatari internal security, which sparked widespread Arab and international condemnation.

In his speech today before the United Nations General Assembly, the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, stated that the Israeli attack targeting the political leaders of Hamas in Doha was an Israeli attempt to obstruct the ceasefire negotiations in Gaza.

On Monday, the spokesperson for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Majid Al-Ansari, stated that the Israeli attack on Qatar was an attack on sovereignty and the principles of mediation and peace.

Al-Ansari added that the Israeli aggression targeted the principle of mediation between adversaries and resolving the conflict through peaceful means, pointing out that it was known to all parties that those who were attacked were discussing the proposal of U.S. President Donald Trump in hopes of recovering the prisoners.

The spokesperson considered that the attack targeting a residential area in Doha puts all agreements made in the region at risk, affirming that Qatar is a platform for mediation that operates around the clock.
