France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, and Andorra officially announced their recognition of the State of Palestine on Monday, bringing the total number of countries recognizing it to 160 out of 193 member states of the United Nations.
This was stated by representatives of the six countries during a session to resume the work of the international conference for a peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue and the implementation of the two-state solution in New York City, USA.
In his speech during the session, French President Emmanuel Macron announced his country's official recognition of the State of Palestine and said: "Our recognition of the State of Palestine opens the way for a peace plan and breaks the cycle of violence in the region."
