Palestinian activists circulated a video on social media showing Israel leveling the residential building to the ground.
One witness, amidst a state of shock, said that his brother, who is a war casualty, and his family were lost under the rubble of the building.
Meanwhile, a man stood beside her, crying out in a weary voice for his daughter under the rubble.
On Tuesday, the army announced that it had begun a "wide ground operation" throughout Gaza City, involving regular and reserve forces.
The army's vehicles advanced on Monday hundreds of meters north of the Tal al-Hawa neighborhood in the southwest of the city.
On August 8, the Israeli government approved a plan to gradually reoccupy the Gaza Strip entirely, starting with Gaza City.
The army began its attack on the city on August 11, in an operation dubbed "Gideon's Chariots 2," which included the demolition of homes using explosive robots.
