The confidence of Israeli security agencies has increased regarding the survival of any senior targeted figures following the assassination attempt on Hamas leaders earlier this week. Estimates suggest that two of them may have been injured, but their lives are not in danger, which may explain their absence from public appearances in recent days.
Yaron Abraham, a reporter for Channel 12 News, showed that the missile fired at the complex hit part of the building while the targeted senior officials were in another wing. Although they were injured in the explosion, it did not result in their deaths.
Abraham added that it is likely that the senior officials were not present in the building at the time. According to him, some Hamas security personnel indicate that this is routine, as senior officials constantly change their locations, and it is not ruled out that they received a prior warning that prompted them to leave the area.
This means that the senior officials, against whom Israel launched an attack, were not in the apartment at all; rather, there were only security guards, lower-ranking officers, and members of their families. The proposed explanation is that the senior Hamas leaders received a prior warning notification.
After Abraham's statements, reporter Almog Boker provided details of the attack, revealing that Israeli intelligence officials had been monitoring the attacked building since 2014. He also noted that since the moment of the attack, all targeted individuals, who are prominent figures in Hamas, have been hiding underground and have lost contact with the outside world.
He then addressed Qatar's response to the attack, citing a security source who said: "Qatar is indeed confirming that it will not abandon negotiations, and Hamas officials do not rule out returning to talks."
The newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported that Israel launched long-range missiles from the Red Sea towards Doha, in an operation that can no longer be stopped despite American satellite systems detecting those missiles and aircraft.
The Wall Street Journal revealed in its report that the aim of this scheme is to enable a rapid response and deprive the United States of any real capability to resist in real-time, as eight F-15 aircraft and four F-35 aircraft headed to the Red Sea and launched long-range ballistic missiles that passed over Saudi Arabia on their way to Doha.
According to the report, Israel informed the U.S. military just minutes before the attack, without providing precise information about the targets. However, the thermal signals detected by American satellites indicated that Doha was the target, but at this stage, the attack could no longer be stopped.
An American security source described the operation as "completely out of the question." The Wall Street Journal also reported that Israeli aircraft fired more than ten missiles at Hamas offices in Doha from outside Qatari airspace.
The distance from Tel Aviv to Doha is more than 1800 kilometers, but the aircraft were able to get close enough to launch long-range guided missiles.
As for the Washington Post, citing Israeli sources, it reported that the Mossad opposed the move to eliminate prominent Hamas figures in Qatar. According to the newspaper, Mossad chief David Barnea hesitated to implement the plan through field agents, fearing it would negatively impact the Mossad's relationship with Qatar, which has been a key mediator in negotiations between Israel and Hamas.
The Hebrew newspaper adds that researchers and analysts in Israel warned that this step reinforces the regional perception that Israel is acting as a "rogue state," and in the United States, they confirmed that the attack could harm efforts to establish a joint air defense system with Arab countries against Iran, especially considering Qatar's central location, which hosts thousands of American soldiers at Al Udeid Air Base, potentially jeopardizing its status as a key partner.
For his part, a senior Hamas leader viewed the correctness of the procedures and arrangements of the movement's and Qatar's security system as a major reason for the failure of the assassination attempt carried out by Israel in Doha, denying that any informational assistance was received from any external party regarding the attack in Doha.
The enemy failed to make any human or technical breach in the movement's and Qatar's security protection team.
