The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) warned that "childhood cannot survive" in the city of Gaza, amid the ongoing military operation launched by the occupying army on the city and the sector as a whole, and its readiness to take control of the largest city under catastrophic humanitarian conditions.
UNICEF spokesperson, Tis Ingram, said in a press briefing on Thursday: "The world is sounding the alarm about what the intense military assault in the city of Gaza could bring – a disaster for nearly a million people who are still there."
Ingram, who spent nine days in the sector, explained that the crisis has already reached "unimaginable" levels, pointing out that malnutrition and famine are weakening children's bodies, while displacement deprives them of shelter and care, and bombardment threatens them at every moment.
