The Israeli Security Agency (Shin Bet) announced today, Wednesday, that it has thwarted an assassination attempt on National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, following the arrest of a cell affiliated with Hamas in the Hebron area in recent weeks.
Details of the alleged plot According to the Shin Bet statement, investigations with the arrested cell members revealed that they had purchased several drones and were planning to equip them with explosives to carry out the assassination.
The statement confirmed that these drones were seized during the arrest operation, which was conducted in cooperation with the Israeli army. The Shin Bet claimed that the cell was operating under direct guidance from Hamas leadership based in Turkey, with the aim of carrying out operations inside Israel.
The Shin Bet confirms that it will continue to work to thwart any attempts by Hamas elements to carry out operations against the occupying state.
