An Israeli channel attributed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's insistence on occupying the city of Gaza to pressure exerted by U.S. President Donald Trump on Tel Aviv to defeat Hamas.
The channel 12 (private) reported that the Israeli security and political cabinet (the cabinet) is scheduled to convene today, Sunday, at 18:00 (15:00 GMT).
It added that "leaders of the security establishment intend to demand the inclusion of the issue of negotiations for the return of the captives (prisoners in Gaza) in the discussion, despite Netanyahu's rejection."
Trump pressured Netanyahu to work on defeating Hamas.
