Palestine: The American veto paralyzes the Security Council from stopping Israel's genocide in Gaza.

The Palestinian Foreign Minister, Farisin Agabkian, stated that the United States' use of the veto power in the Security Council paralyzes its role and prevents it from taking any serious steps to end the genocide being perpetrated by the occupying state against the Gaza Strip. This was during a press conference held at the Palestinian Foreign Ministry headquarters in Ramallah.

Agabkian added that the American veto represents a real obstacle to international justice, as it provides the Israeli occupation with political cover to continue its aggression without accountability. She pointed out that the veto "paralyzes" the Security Council's role and prevents it from taking any serious steps to end the war.

The minister noted that the Palestinian people are also being killed "in the silence of the world and with a policy of double standards." She emphasized the necessity for countries to act outside the framework of the Security Council, calling for the activation of other legal pathways such as the International Criminal Court, in addition to political and economic pressure through imposing sanctions on the occupation.

Agabkian continued: "The war can be stopped if there is a global political will. We hope it will end soon." She affirmed that the occupying state continues to rebel against international law and considers itself above the law.

The minister indicated that there are no direct communications with the United States, but she stressed the importance of the Palestinian voice being heard by U.S. President Donald Trump. She added: "If they want peace in the region, they must recognize the right of the Palestinian people to establish their state, and without that, there will be no peace in the region."

Agabkian addressed the statements of some Hamas members regarding their unwillingness to participate in governance after the war, asserting that "the day after the war will be Palestinian," as proposed by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

She emphasized the rejection of the occupying state appointing any figure to manage the Gaza Strip, stressing that the legal authority over Gaza belongs to the State of Palestine. She spoke about the decision of the Israeli security cabinet "the cabinet" to fully occupy the Gaza Strip, considering this decision reveals the goals of the occupation.

She clarified that the occupation seeks to turn the Strip into an unlivable area and forcibly displace Palestinians. She pointed out that the humanitarian situation in Gaza has significantly deteriorated, with 50,000 Palestinians living today in one square kilometer without infrastructure.

Agabkian affirmed that the Palestinian leadership is primarily seeking to stop the genocide and striving to establish a Palestinian state in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip, along the 1967 borders, living in security and peace alongside the occupying state.

Since October 7, 2023, the occupying state, with American support, has been committing genocide in Gaza, including killing, starvation, and destruction, ignoring all international calls. This genocide has left thousands of martyrs and injured, necessitating urgent action from the international community.
