Samir Halila: My nomination for the position of "Governor of Gaza" came from the White House.. and I am ready for

Palestinian businessman Samir Halila stated that he has been nominated to be the "Governor of Gaza" after the war in the sector, noting that this nomination came from the White House and not from Tel Aviv. Halila confirmed that he is ready for the task, explaining that he was chosen because he possesses the necessary independence and experience.

In an interview with the Israeli channel "i24" that broadcasts in Arabic, Halila revealed that his name was discussed with Egypt and Jordan, expecting that Washington would also discuss the matter with the Palestinian Authority, the occupying state, Hamas, and other concerned parties.

Regarding the position of the Palestinian Authority, Halila said that when he received the offer, he immediately informed the Palestinian Authority. He pointed out the importance of coordinating with various parties to ensure the success of the transitional phase.

Halila also called on Arab countries such as Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar to prepare to finance the reconstruction process in Gaza, which is estimated to cost around fifty-three billion dollars over five years.

He added that it is essential to form an international Arab force to oversee security during the transitional phase so that the Palestinian police can take over the security file in the sector.

Halila confirmed that he is not currently part of the Palestinian Authority, having played a role in the authority thirty years ago, but now he comes from the private sector as an economist and does not represent the Palestinian Authority.
