The newspaper "Israel Hayom" stated that the evacuation process came after massive popular demonstrations against Israelis, where protesters expressed their rejection of the Israeli aggression on Gaza and their support for the Palestinians.

In a related context, the Greek left movement announced the organization of a march to the Gaza Strip on August 10, in a clear escalation of the Greek people's stance against the Israeli massacres, although no additional details about the march were provided. In response to the Israeli ambassador's criticisms, the Mayor of Athens, Haris Doukas, rejected interference in the city's internal affairs, affirming that the Municipality of Athens does not accept lessons in democracy from those who kill civilians and children in Gaza daily. He clarified that most of the pro-Palestinian graffiti has been removed, but he emphasized that the Israeli occupation is committing unprecedented genocide against the Palestinians in Gaza, which is provoking the discontent of Greek society.

Since the onset of the Israeli aggression on Gaza on October 7, 2023, Athens and other Greek cities have witnessed widespread demonstrations in support of the Palestinians, during which protesters raised slogans condemning the aggression and demanding an end to the massacres against civilians. Protesters also organized protests against the cruise ship "Crown Iris," which docked at some Greek islands carrying hundreds of Israeli tourists, in a sign of popular anger at the Greek government's complicity with the occupation.
