Canada Announces Delivery of Humanitarian Aid to Gaza by Air
The aid arrived in Gaza via a military aircraft and weighs about 10,000 kilograms, in an important step to support the increasing humanitarian needs.
On Monday, Canada announced its success in delivering humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip by air, in a move that reflects its commitment to assisting the Palestinian people amid the difficult humanitarian conditions in the region.
This was stated in a joint statement issued by Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand and Defense Minister David McGuinty, which confirmed that the aid reached the region via a military transport aircraft of the "CC-130J Hercules" model belonging to the Canadian Armed Forces.
The statement noted that the Canadian aircraft dropped approximately 10,000 kilograms of aid to the region, including essential food and medical supplies to address the worsening humanitarian crisis.
The statement emphasized that humanitarian organizations face significant challenges in delivering supplies overland due to the ongoing restrictions imposed by the Israeli government, which hinder relief efforts and increase the suffering of the population in Gaza.
It stressed that "preventing the delivery of aid is a violation of international humanitarian law and must end immediately," calling on the international community to intervene to stop these violations and facilitate the delivery of aid to those in need.
Since the onset of the genocide on October 7, 2023, Israeli occupation crimes against Palestinians in Gaza have continued, with Israel closing all crossings to humanitarian, relief, and medical aid since March 2, leading to widespread famine and catastrophic levels of indicators.
These crimes, supported by the United States, have resulted in over 210,000 Palestinians being killed or injured, with more than 9,000 missing, in addition to hundreds of thousands displaced, and famine claiming the lives of many innocents, especially children and women.
