Malaysia Calls for International Investigation into the Killing of Over 1,300 Palestinians in Gaza

Malaysia has expressed its strong condemnation of the massacre that took place in the Gaza Strip, which resulted in the killing of over 1,300 Palestinians who were seeking humanitarian aid, considering these events to be a heinous crime that requires an urgent international investigation and accountability for those responsible.

In a statement issued by the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the ministry expressed its deep concern over the rising number of casualties due to the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, where the death toll has exceeded 60,000 Palestinians, and around 150,000 have been injured, while approximately 1.9 million Palestinians have been forced to flee due to the ongoing violence.

The statement confirmed that the tightened Israeli blockade significantly hinders the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, leading to a severe shortage of food, clean water, medical supplies, and fuel, which exacerbates the humanitarian crisis and threatens the lives of the civilian population, especially children.

The statement warned that these serious developments have led to heightened fears of an imminent famine, as the effects of hunger and malnutrition have become clearly visible among thousands of civilians, with the health condition of children deteriorating in particular, increasing the suffering of the population in the Strip.

In a related context, Malaysia welcomed the results of the international conference on Palestine held at the United Nations from July 28 to 30, emphasizing the importance of enhancing international support to end the suffering of the Palestinian people and achieve justice, calling on the international community to take immediate action to stop the aggression and lift the blockade on Gaza.

Israel is accused of committing genocide in Gaza since the beginning of the aggression in October, as its operations have left over 209,000 Palestinians dead or injured, with more than 9,000 missing, in addition to hundreds of thousands of displaced persons, amid fears of worsening the humanitarian crisis and famine that has claimed the lives of many civilians, especially children and women.
