Arab Protests Demand an End to Israeli Starvation of Gaza and Support for the Palestinian Cause
Participants in the protests are calling for an end to the ongoing crime of starvation against Gaza and for support for the Palestinian people in the face of Israeli aggression.
Tens of thousands of protesters participated in several Arab countries, including Morocco, Mauritania, and Yemen, in demonstrations in solidarity with the Gaza Strip, demanding the opening of crossings for humanitarian aid and an end to the starvation policy implemented by Israel against the region.
In Morocco, the Moroccan Authority for Supporting the Issues of the Nation organized 90 demonstrations in 58 cities, including cities like Taza and Oujda in the east, and El Jadida and Casablanca in the west, as well as Agadir in the southwest, following Friday prayers and at other times. Participants raised Palestinian flags and displayed images highlighting Israeli starvation policies, chanting slogans in support of the Palestinian cause and calling for continued support.
In Mauritania, hundreds of people took to the streets in protests in the capital Nouakchott, rejecting Israel's ongoing war of starvation and extermination against Gaza, demanding an end to the aggression against Palestinians. The demonstrations began after Friday prayers in front of the Grand Mosque, where participants raised Palestinian and Mauritanian flags, chanting slogans in support of armed factions in Gaza. These events were organized by the Student Initiative Against Zionist Penetration and in Defense of Just Causes, a non-governmental organization that organizes support activities for the Palestinian people.
In Yemen, tens of thousands demonstrated in several governorates, especially in Al-Sabeen Square in the capital Sana'a, with protests extending to other governorates such as Al-Hudaydah, Saada, and Ibb. Protesters raised Yemeni and Palestinian flags, alongside banners affirming steadfast solidarity with Gaza. These demonstrations come amid Israel's escalation of its policies, having closed all crossings to humanitarian, relief, and medical aid since March 2, 2023, leading to widespread famine and catastrophic levels of hunger.
The Israeli operations, supported by the United States, have resulted in hundreds of thousands of casualties, including martyrs and injured, among them children and women, in addition to more than 9,000 missing persons and hundreds of thousands of displaced individuals, as famine continues to claim many lives amid the escalating aggression aimed at exterminating the Palestinian people in Gaza.
