US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that the Iranian nuclear sites targeted by US airstrikes were destroyed, and that it "will take years to restore them to service."
Trump explained in a post on the Truth Social platform: "All three of Iran's nuclear sites have been completely destroyed. It will take years to bring them back online."
He continued, "If Iran wants to do this, it would be better to start over, in three different locations, before those sites are obliterated. Thank you for your attention to this matter."
At dawn on June 13, Israel launched a surprise attack targeting military and nuclear sites in Iran, including assassinations of military leaders and nuclear scientists. Israel declared its intention to prevent Iran from possessing a nuclear bomb, while Tehran denies seeking to possess a nuclear weapon and affirms its right to civilian nuclear energy.
On the night of June 21-22, the United States launched strikes on three major Iranian nuclear sites. After 12 days of war, US President Donald Trump declared a ceasefire between Iran and Israel on June 24. He later threatened that the United States would resume strikes against Iran if it enriched uranium for military use.
