The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced that it had received reports of the death of at least two children due to the heat wave in the Gaza Strip.
The agency pointed out in a statement on its account on the “X” platform that children are paying the greatest price and called for an immediate ceasefire.
The statement confirmed that the displaced in Gaza receive only one liter of water per day on average, which is much less than the daily minimum of 15 liters according to international standards.
The statement stressed that the humanitarian conditions in Gaza are worsening due to rising temperatures, and cited statements by the Commissioner-General of UNRWA, Philippe Lazraini, in this regard.
