The widening of the Turkish budget deficit in March due to the impact of the ongoing earthquake

The Turkish central government's budget recorded a deficit of 47.22 billion liras (about 2.43 billion US dollars) in March, the Finance Ministry announced on Monday.

The total deficit for the first quarter of this year widened to 250 billion pounds, according to the ministry.

Turkey's budget deficit rose sharply in February after it was hit by massive earthquakes that killed more than 50,000 people and destroyed thousands of buildings in both Turkey and Syria.

The budget deficit of the Turkish central government amounted to 170.56 billion liras in February, compared to about 32.24 billion liras in January.

The Turkish Business and Business Confederation estimates that the earthquakes could cost the country up to $84.1 billion.

The financial services firm JPMorgan Chase & Co. estimated the direct costs of the earthquakes at US$25 billion.

Charles III and his wife Camilla choose a spinach quiche for the royal coronation

Britain's King Charles III and his wife Camilla announced their choice of spinach, beans and tarragon quiche to be served at the expected coronation party on May 6, after the chicken was present during the coronation of Elizabeth II in 1953.

Charles and Camilla "personally" chose the famous quiche in France, but not so popular in the UK. This dish was discussed on the official royal family account via Twitter.

Charles and his wife hoped their choice would "encourage" Britons to take part in the grand coronation lunch, a celebration that takes place on Saturday and Sunday, May 6 and 7.

The message was accompanied by a video showing a chef preparing the quiche for the coronation party.

The recipe includes several ingredients, including spinach, beans, tarragon, milk, liquid cream, eggs and cheddar cheese.

And the royal family confirmed on Twitter that this dish "is suitable for all tastes, and it can be eaten hot or cold, with vegetable salad and boiled potatoes."

During the coronation of Elizabeth II in 1953, a dish of chicken was served with creamy curry sauce, and it became one of the traditional dishes in British cuisine.

The coronation of Charles and his wife Camilla will be held on the sixth of May in Westminster Abbey, in the presence of about two thousand guests. This weekend, there will be celebrations and a concert at Windsor Castle, west London.

Tunisian security forces close the headquarters of the Renaissance movement

The opposition Ennahda movement in Tunisia confirmed on Tuesday that the security forces closed all party headquarters, including its central headquarters, and prevented its employees from entering it.

This decision comes after the arrest of party leader Rashid Ghannouchi by security forces during breakfast at his home.

"A security force entered the party's main headquarters and demanded those present there to leave and closed it... Other security forces also closed all the party's offices in the country and prevented meetings there," party leader Riyad al-Shuaibi told AFP.

The Ennahda movement announced that its leader, Rashid Ghannouchi, was arrested on Monday evening by a security unit that raided his house in the capital and took him to an "unknown destination," then announced that he was being interrogated in a security barracks in the capital.

The party condemned the arrest and demanded his immediate release.

The judicial authorities in Tunisia did not comment on the reasons for this arrest, which comes after statements in which Ghannouchi said that "there is an intellectual and ideological impediment in Tunisia that establishes civil war."

He added, "Do not imagine Tunisia without one party or the other, Tunisia without a renaissance, Tunisia without political Islam, Tunisia without the left, or any component. It is a project for civil war. This is a crime in reality."

For his part, Ahmed Naguib al-Shabi, head of the National Salvation Front, the coalition opposing President Kais Saied, in which Ennahdha participates, said that the police forces "prevented the organization of a press conference for the front today and set up barriers in front of the party's headquarters."

In addition, two leaders of the Ennahda movement, Belkacem Hassan and Muhammad al-Qumani, were arrested, according to Shuaibi.

Ghannouchi was repeatedly brought before the Public Prosecution Office as part of his investigation in cases related to corruption and terrorism.

Since the beginning of February, at least twenty personalities, most of them dissidents belonging to the Ennahda Party and its allies, have been arrested, in addition to the influential businessman Kamal al-Latif and the director of a large private radio station.

President Saeed described the detainees as "terrorists" and accused them of "conspiring against the internal and external security of the state."

Non-governmental human rights organizations considered this campaign of arrests a "deliberate attempt to stifle the opposition, especially criticism of the president," and urged Saeed to "stop this campaign, which has political considerations."

Saied seeks to complete his political project based on an enhanced presidential system and put an end to the parliamentary system that was approved following the 2011 revolution that overthrew the Ben Ali regime and put the country on a path to a unique democratic transition in the region.

Since July 25, 2021, Saied has seized power and amended the constitution to establish a presidential system at the expense of Parliament, which no longer has actual powers.

Equation stop the wolf and sheep policy

It is not forbidden for there to be a disagreement within the Council of Ministers between the Speaker of the Council and one or more ministers, but after examining the aspects of the dispute, it is forbidden for the Prime Minister to decide and the minister to refrain from implementing it, or for the minister to issue a decision that differs from the president’s decision.

This is what happened in the last two weeks in our Council of Ministers, when it was decided to pay the salary of the current month of April before Eid al-Fitr, but the Minister of Finance refused that, explaining that the employees do not need the salary, since they received the March salary in the first ten days of April. One of the prime minister's advisors broke his silence about this, describing the matter as "having reached the point of shame, even shame, and a killing blow to Fatah."

Counselor Abd al-Ilah al-Atira did not explain why the matter was flawed and defective, except for the reason that the minister did not comply with the implementation of the Prime Minister’s decision, which is a departure from unusual protocol procedures. In Netanyahu’s last government, Netanyahu went to dismiss one of his most important and close ministers, a minister The defense because he said something different, and put the entire government about the dismissal decision in the wind, the entire society on the brink of collapse, and the Histadrut, which represents all trade unions face to face in front of the government. The issue in the Palestinian government has not reached this limit, and it will not, as long as it is not elected, and is not subject to accountability and accountability by an elected "Knesset". Therefore, the solutions are carried out according to the approaches of "the wolf does not die and the sheep do not perish," as he was nominated. 30% of the salary will be paid.

But more important than the arguments of Arab governments in general, which end according to the policy of "the wolf and the sheep", is the minister's statement that state employees do not need the salary. Where did the minister come up with this deduction, and how did he know that they actually do not need their salary? The employees are not equal. Like the teeth of a comb, there are employees who have large families, extended families, debts, bank benefits, children studying at universities, etc. But what is more dangerous than that, in the minister’s statement, is a false premise. I do not personally know how it was born and grew until it became a component of society, the government and the ministry, stating that the employee’s salary is closer to a gift or even a favor that the Ministry of Finance bestows on him every last month once. That is why the quickest thing she does to solve her problems is this salary, so she spends it later than it is sometimes, and sometimes she does not spend it in full.

In other words, it does not deal with it as a right for the employee to be paid for his services that he provides to the state and the government willingly, what the state must do with the employee and his salary. Part of the aggravation of the teachers' strike, which has entered its third month, is based on this misreading. Neither the Minister of Finance, nor the Minister of Education, nor even the Prime Minister, or even the President himself, are paying the teachers out of their pockets, so why not approve an accurate budget for them that will be adhered to have it all year round.

Postponement of municipal elections in Lebanon amid institutional paralysis

The Lebanese Parliament decided on Tuesday to postpone the municipal elections that were to be held next month, for the second time in two years, amid political paralysis and economic collapse in a country where constitutional deadlines are rarely respected.

And the House of Representatives approved, according to what was announced, “a proposal for an accelerated repeated law aimed at the technical extension of municipal and elective councils,” provided that their term ends “as a maximum until 5/31/2024.”

Municipal and optional elections are held in Lebanon every six years. The last time it took place was in 2016, and it was supposed to be held last year, but in March 2022 Parliament approved the extension of the municipal councils for a year, due to the ongoing crisis since 2019.

Several factors, logistical and financial, are preventing the elections from being held today, despite calls from the international community to adhere to their date.

As with every election in Lebanon, the political forces are divided between supporters and opponents, and share responsibilities, so that some parliamentary blocs considered Tuesday's parliament session "unconstitutional", but the deputies secured a sufficient quorum to hold it, and it ended quickly after the decision to extend the municipal councils was taken. .

"I encourage all concerned parties to support efforts to hold elections on time and enable the Lebanese people to exercise their democratic rights," said the United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Joanna Wronica, at the beginning of this month.

However, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Elias Bou Saab said last week that "the issue of holding municipal and elective elections has become an issue that has become almost impossible," speaking of questions that the Minister of Interior, who declared his readiness to hold elections in May, should answer, including funding.

Postponement of municipal elections is not a new matter in political practice in Lebanon. The system of settlements and quotas between political and sectarian forces often delays important decisions, including forming a government, electing a president, or even parliamentary elections.

The economic collapse that has afflicted the country since 2019 has exacerbated the situation, with the great scarcity of liquidity and the inability of the authorities to contain it.

The Lebanese parliament has failed 11 times to elect a president despite the post being vacant for more than five months, due to deep political divisions.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh affirmed that the teachers' strike exceeded the limits of union work, and it will be dealt with within the framework of the law and administrative procedures that were sent to the teachers who refused to work.

Shtayyeh demanded, in the government session, today, Tuesday, the objecting teachers to return to work, stressing that the focus of the educational process is the student, and everything that is being done to protect his right to education.

He said, "The Council of Ministers dealt seriously and positively with the teachers' demands from a national and trade union standpoint, and responded to the initiatives it received. Because of this response on our part, thousands of teachers returned to teaching, while others remained."

Shtayyeh stressed that the " Tawjihi " general secondary exam is on time, and those in charge of the ministry must provide the appropriate conditions for the success of the exam.

On the other hand, Shtayyeh expressed his regret at the disruption of refugee services in the camps in various sectors, calling on UNRWA to carry out its tasks to provide services to the refugees, and to open a dialogue with the agency's union of workers, to ensure the resumption of all services to the camps.

Today, in addition to educational, financial and security reports, the Council of Ministers will discuss the right to information laws and the national development plan for the coming years.

Apple is taking a "major expansion" step with the opening of its first store in India

On Tuesday, Apple opened its first store in India , in an indication of the growing interest of the American giant in this giant country in South Asia, which represents a major market and a potential alternative to China for the manufacture of its products.

Apple President Tom Cook personally participated in the opening of the store, where he was receiving the first customers to the applause of the staff. In an upscale mall in the financial capital, Bombay, hundreds of consumers lined up, some waiting all night, to check out the new store ("Apple Store").

The company is counting heavily on this country of 1.4 billion people, which has the second largest number of smartphone users in the world after China.

And "Apple" opens its second store in the country, in the capital, New Delhi.

The company, the world's first in terms of market value, also intends to expand its industrial presence in India, as it seeks to diversify its supply network and liberate itself from the heavy dependence on China in this field.

In a statement published Monday, Apple described opening stores in India as a "major expansion" step. "We are thrilled to continue down our historic path," the company's managing director Tim Cook said in a statement.

And “Apple” launched its online store in India in 2020, but it did not open a non-virtual store due to investment laws that were later relaxed, requiring foreign companies to supply 30% of their raw materials locally.

With an iPod Touch made in 2013 still in its original box, marketing officer Purav Mehta, 30, waited all night in front of the store. "We have been waiting impatiently for this (...) for a long time," he told AFP.

Madhav Maimani, a 27-year-old stationery salesman, traveled nearly 900 km from Rajasthan to take part in the event.

He pointed out that "the manufacture of Apple devices in India will push prices down because they will become locally manufactured, which will make the price of iPhone phones acceptable."

"This will undoubtedly increase the possibility of Indians buying iPhones made in India for sentimental reasons," he said.

India has more than 600 million smartphone users, while devices running the Android operating system dominate this market, in which consumers pay special attention to the price.

And Chinese smartphone manufacturers “Xiaomi”, “Vivo”, “Oppo” and “Realme” acquired a cumulative market share of 66% in 2022, while South Korean Samsung alone won 19% of the market, according to the research company “Canalys”.

The share of "iPhone" phones in the Indian market did not exceed 4% last year.

However, according to Canalys analyst Sanyam Chaurasia, Apple may benefit from smartphone development and financing programs for Indian retailers and consumers.

"Apple is focusing more on the Indian market because it sees more opportunity there," Chaurasia told AFP.

And in February, during a conference call about Apple's quarterly results, Tim Cook said India was "a very interesting market for us and a key target for us."

"Basically, we're taking what we learned in China and our progress, and we're putting that to good use," he added. He noted that Apple "dedicates a lot of energy" to India, saying he is "very optimistic" about the country.

India has also become an essential part of Apple's plans to move its production of devices and components out of China, in light of diplomatic tensions between Washington and Beijing, but also motivated by the negative repercussions on the supply chain of strict Chinese policies to combat the outbreak of Covid.

In 2021, only 1% of iPhones were manufactured in India, before the percentage rose to 7% last year, Bloomberg reported last week. Apple began manufacturing iPhones in India in 2017, through Taiwanese suppliers Foxconn, Wistron and Pegatron.

Elon Musk is creating his own artificial intelligence tool

Elon Musk announced Monday that he is creating his own artificial intelligence tool, TruthGPT, which will, in his words, seek to "show as much truth as possible" and compete with other unregulated programs.

Musk said in an interview with the American "Fox News" channel, "I will launch the Truth-GBT tool for artificial intelligence, which will seek to bring out the greatest amount of truth and try to understand the nature of the universe."

And the head of “Twitter”, “Tesla”, “SpaceX” and “Noralink” considered that this platform represents the “best way” to ensure the safety of humans, because “an artificial intelligence tool that aims to understand the universe should not defeat humans because we are an important part of the universe.” ".

He explained that his tool would act somewhat like humans eager to "protect the habitat" of chimpanzees, while having the power to "hunt and kill these animals".

And specialized media had reported a few weeks ago that Musk is investing in the field of artificial intelligence, specifically by establishing in March a new company specializing in this field called "X.AI" and it is based in Nevada.

An article published by the "Financial Times" newspaper stated that the new company aims to compete with the emerging "Open AI" company that designed the "Chat GBT" chatbot based on generative artificial intelligence that interacts with humans and can produce all kinds of texts on demand.

The success of this program since its launch at the end of last November has led technology companies to race to provide this technology with advanced capabilities.

Musk co-founded OpenAI in 2015, before leaving the company in 2018.

The billionaire confirmed Monday that artificial intelligence technology is "capable of destroying civilization," calling for the regulation of this sector.

At the end of last March, Musk and hundreds of academics, heads of companies, and personalities signed a petition calling for a six-month cessation of research aimed at finding artificial intelligence techniques that are stronger than ChatGBT.

The Financial Times reported that the businessman had recently hired Igor Babushkin and Manuel Croas, who both worked for DeepMind, an artificial intelligence company affiliated with Alphabet, the company that owns Google.

The Saudi foreign minister visits Damascus on Tuesday for the first time since the start of the conflict

Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan will arrive in Damascus on Tuesday, according to what the Syrian Ministry of Information announced, in the first official Saudi visit to Syria since the estrangement between the two countries with the start of the conflict in Syria 12 years ago.

The visit culminates in the resumption of Syrian-Saudi relations and comes a few days after the visit of Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal al-Miqdad to Jeddah, at a time when Arab countries are discussing the possibility of Damascus returning to the Arab League after its membership was suspended in 2011.

The visit comes in the midst of regional diplomatic moves with which the political landscape in the region has changed since Riyadh and Tehran, an ally of Damascus, agreed to resume their relations last month.

The Syrian Ministry of Information called on journalists to cover the expected arrival of the Saudi Foreign Minister in the afternoon at Damascus International Airport.

Following the outbreak of protests in Syria, which soon turned into a bloody conflict in 2011, several Arab countries, led by Saudi Arabia, severed diplomatic relations with Damascus.

Saudi Arabia, which closed its embassy in Damascus in March 2012, especially during the first years of the conflict, provided support to the Syrian opposition, and received figures from it on its soil.

However, during the past few years, signs of Arab openness towards Syria have emerged, which began with the UAE reopening its embassy in Damascus in 2018.

Since the devastating earthquake in Syria and neighboring Turkey in February, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has received a torrent of contacts and aid from the leaders of Arab countries, in solidarity that seems to have accelerated the process of resuming his relations with his regional environment.

The Saudi openness towards Damascus appeared for the first time after the earthquake, when Saudi aid planes landed in government-controlled areas, the first since Riyadh severed its relations with Damascus.

It was only a few weeks until Riyadh announced last month that it was in talks with Damascus regarding the resumption of consular services between the two countries.

On April 12, and on his first official visit to Saudi Arabia since the rupture between the two countries, Al-Miqdad visited Jeddah, where he discussed with Bin Farhan "the necessary steps to achieve a comprehensive political settlement to the Syrian crisis that ends all its repercussions (...) and contributes to the return of Syria to its Arab surroundings." .

After Saudi Arabia, Al-Miqdad visited Algeria, one of the few Arab countries that maintained its relations with Damascus, as well as Tunisia, which announced this month the resumption of its relations with Syria.

On Friday, Saudi Arabia hosted a meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, in addition to Egypt, Jordan and Iraq, to discuss the return of Damascus to the Arab incubator.

The conferees stressed "the importance of having an Arab leadership role in efforts to end the crisis" in Syria, as well as "intensified consultations between Arab countries to ensure the success of these efforts."

Discovery of coastal species 'endemic' to plastic waste in the Pacific Ocean

Scientists have discovered species of oysters and coastal anemones living and breeding in large quantities in the waste floating on the surface of the waters of the Pacific Ocean, according to a study revealed Monday.

Environmental scientists have for years been interested in what they call the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, which is large amounts of plastic waste, including bottles and fishing nets, floating on the surface of the ocean.

American researchers who examined samples of this garbage, which they pulled from the northeastern Pacific Ocean between California and Hawaii, indicated that they found 37 species of invertebrates growing in coastal areas, most of which came from countries on the other side of the ocean, such as Japan, for example.

"The high seas are home to a variety of coastal species that live and breed in the open ocean," they said in the study, published in the journal Nature Ecology and Evolution.

The study noted that "coastal species are still present in the open ocean as an essential component of a new marine population that is sustained by the large amount of plastic debris."

More than two-thirds of the items studied contained coastal species, including crustaceans, sea anemones and algae-like creatures called mosses.

And in 2012, scientists found plastic waste "inhabited by organisms" on the coast of North America, washed up by the tsunami that struck Japan in 2011.

The study indicated that the organisms can spread rapidly by receiving food from layers formed by bacteria and algae on top of the floating plastic. Scientists now have to investigate how the new organisms have adapted to the ocean food chain.

"Our finding that coastal species are commonly spotted on the same plastic litter as native marine species is an indication that these two groups are interacting with each other," lead study author Lynsey Haram told AFP.

"These interactions may include competition for food, space and predation," she added, noting that "more research is needed to understand whether the effects of the emergence of new species are positive or negative."

Members of the same research team, in an article published in 2021, warned that the influx of invasive coastal species "may herald significant environmental changes in the marine environment."

A study published in 2017 in the journal "Science Advances" confirmed that if waste production and management continues as it is now, 12 billion tons of plastic waste will be recorded floating in the ocean or in the natural environment by 2050.

And the energy and environment ministers of the Group of Seven pledged, during the conclusion of their talks in Japan on Sunday, to reduce any new plastic pollution to zero by the year 2040.

Questions about the effectiveness of the agricultural model in Morocco in the face of record inflation and climatic fluctuations

The recent rise in the prices of agricultural products has exacerbated the level of inflation in Morocco , especially in light of the climatic fluctuations that negatively affect this sector, which has sparked calls to review agricultural policy to ensure food sovereignty instead of focusing on exports.

The inflation rate during the first quarter of this year reached 9.4 percent, according to the High Commission for Planning (official), compared to 4 percent in the same period last year. This is mainly due to the increase in food prices (+18.2 percent).
This price hike coincided with the month of Ramadan, during which the level of consumption increases, which drew a barrage of criticism from Aziz Akhannouch's government and calls for urgent measures to be taken to protect purchasing power.

The Social Front, a coalition of leftist parties and unions, recently organized protest demonstrations in various cities, although their size remained limited.

However, the crisis also raised questions about the effectiveness of the agricultural policy, which is the engine of economic growth in the country, equivalent to 13 percent of the gross domestic product and 14 percent of exports.

These criticisms were not only issued by the opponents, but also by the High Commissioner for Planning, Ahmed Halimi, who considered in an interview with “Media 24” that climate fluctuations make the agricultural sector “called for a revolution to change the production system, and move towards achieving food sovereignty, and to produce in the first place.” The first is what we consume.

In the face of criticism, Minister of Agriculture Muhammad Siddiqui confirmed that the increases were due to external and circumstantial factors, such as a cold wave that delayed the harvest of tomato crops.

The minister praised the doubling of the sector's gross product, since the adoption of the "Green Morocco" plan in 2008, from about 63 to 125 billion dirhams (about 6 to 12 billion dollars), despite the decline in rainfall by about seven million cubic meters annually since 1985.

The plan, which extends until 2030, made it possible to save about two billion cubic meters of water annually, thanks to modern irrigation techniques, and to start exploiting desalinated sea water, which today irrigates "about 90 percent of the tomato crop," according to the minister.
However, the lack of rain, especially last year, contributes to exhausting the purchasing power of consumers. "Drought reduced the cultivated area, so supply decreased and prices increased," explains agricultural expert Abd al-Rahim Handoof.

The prices of raw materials (seeds, energy, fertilizers...) imported from abroad have risen by "about 30 to 70 percent," according to the Minister of Agriculture.

And if the "Green Morocco" plan made it possible to provide self-sufficiency of about 50 to 100 percent, depending on the production chains, the Kingdom is still hostage to fluctuations in the international markets for the prices of raw materials, and for wheat, which is a basic consumer item.

Critics of the agricultural policy consider that the continued faltering of the agricultural sector is sufficient evidence of the need to review the policy related to it, in the direction of “ensuring food sovereignty that begins with the seed industry,” according to what Handov says, who adds, “We have a great delay in this field, although we have researchers who produce seeds, but they are Don't shop."

The researcher in the agricultural field believes that the use of seeds suitable for the local climate can raise the yield of grain from about 20 quintals per hectare currently to 30 or 40 quintals, provided that “agricultural guidance and modern technologies” are provided to medium and small farmers, “but the state is mainly concerned with large exporting farmers.” .

The Kingdom aspires to double agricultural exports from about 30 to 60 billion dirhams (about 2.9 to 5.9 million dollars) by the year 2030, as a "strategic" proof of seawater desalination.

The Fruit and Vegetable Producers Association said in a letter to the prime minister that the government is called first to reform the marketing system, which suffers from multiple intermediaries who "earn 3 to 4 times the value of the product," calling on it to suspend the decision to export tomatoes, which was taken to ensure supply to the local market.

A few weeks ago, the government announced operations to combat speculators, but its spokesman, Mustafa Paytas, said that these measures "did not achieve what we aspired to."

This crisis puts Aziz Akhannouch's government under constant pressure, noting that inflation has continued since last year (6.6 percent) due to the rise in fuel prices.

In the opinion of the High Commissioner for Planning, "the rise in prices will become structural," "until we complete reforms to improve productivity and cleanse marketing chains."

In March, the Central Bank raised the main interest rate (3 percent) for the third time since September to control prices, in a decision that does not agree with the government’s directions, which is betting on reviving economic growth this year to 4 percent.

A Washington Post editorial on COVID-19 swims against the scientific consensus

A recent Washington Post editorial abuzz with the conspiracy theory that COVID-19 was launched from Wuhan , China, was deemed by scholars as swimming against current scientific evidence, according to an international socialist news site.

Over the past month, scientists have discovered direct means by which animals transmitted SARS-CoV-2 to humans, the World Social Web reported Sunday.

The latest study by Dr. Florence Debarre, an evolutionary biologist at the French National Center for Scientific Research, revealed that samples containing SARS-CoV-2 from the wet market in Wuhan also contained the DNA of susceptible animals such as raccoon dogs, according to the report.

However, The Washington Post on Saturday published an editorial promoting the conspiracy theory that COVID-19 was released from the Wuhan Institute of Virology, the report said, noting that "the editorial ignores the growing amount of scientific evidence that refutes its claims."

The report stated that the editorial was severely criticized by scholars. "One thing is clear: If there really is a 'new light' on this subject, it is not coming from the Washington Post," he added, quoting vaccinologist Peter Hotez. "All the reckless speculation that ignores the preponderance of scientific evidence is published in major journals."

He added that "The Post's task of swimming against the tide of overwhelming scientific consensus has become more difficult as the weight of scientific evidence has accumulated in favor of natural origins."

Yesterday marked the Palestinian Prisoner’s Day, which was adopted by the Palestine Liberation Organization, in fulfillment of the Palestinian and Arab prisoner who sacrificed his freedom on the altar of the Palestinian cause, with the aim of leaving colonialism from the land of his people and achieving complete freedom and independence, which our people have been struggling to reach for more than a century tirelessly. For its sake, hundreds of thousands of martyrs and prisoners were sacrificed, and it continues to make huge sacrifices in the face of a racist and uprooting occupation, but in the end, victory is the ally of the struggling peoples, and our people are no less struggling than the rest of the peoples who were able to liberate and become independent so that the occupation remains the last occupation in the world, due to the fact that Western countries The same colonial past, as well as the United States, adopts and supports this brutal occupation, but its fate is to disappear, like the rest of the colonial countries that emerged humiliated from the countries that colonized them and exploited their wealth above and below the ground.

In this sense, the prisoners are the vanguard of our people in the struggle. Indeed, many of them are the foundations of this struggle, which rehabilitated the Palestinian cause and transformed it from an issue of refugees aided by the United Nations, represented by the UNRWA, into a militant and political issue, along with the martyrs who are more generous than all of us. They offered their pure blood for the sake of the homeland and the liberation of the land and the human being together from the brutal Zionist occupation.

And because the prisoners are the advanced vanguard of struggle among our people, the occupation has worked and is still working to tighten the screws on them through its practices against them, where their living conditions are very difficult. As a result of medical negligence, which contradicts international laws and norms and is considered a violation of international agreements, but the world, with the support of America and its Western allies, is preventing the occupation state from being punished for these crimes that it commits against prisoners of freedom in particular and our people in general.

Nevertheless, the captive movement is lofty and failed, and all the measures and attempts of the occupation undermine its steadfastness and emptied it of its content and content of struggle. body.

Since the beginning of this year and with the advent of Netanyahu's extreme right-wing government, this government, through the so-called Minister of National Security, tried to harm the prisoners by clamping down on them, but it retracted its decisions and procedures due to the unity of the captive movement in the face of these measures and its unified struggle steps that forced the occupation to Retreat and defeat him.

However, the captive movement is still targeted by the occupation, which calls on everyone to expand the circle of solidarity with them and not to leave them alone to struggle with the prison administration headed by the extremist racist Minister Ben Gfir, as well as to continue bringing their cases before international courts, especially the Hague court specialized in crimes. the war.

The responsible Palestinian authorities and organizations concerned with the affairs of the captive movement must work to release them, especially the sick among them, led by the fighter Walid Daqqa, who has been detained for more than 36 years.

The question that arises is, how long will the prisoners of freedom remain in the prisons of oppression and occupation abuse?
The freedom of the prisoners should be the first priority for Palestinians and Arabs.

To stop the gross violations of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories

Unprecedented grave violations committed by the Israeli occupation, affecting the human rights, basic freedoms and human dignity of the Palestinian people in the occupied Palestinian territories.

This policy constituted a serious violation of international humanitarian law and the international bill of human rights, and was not limited to the practices of the current Israeli government headed by the most extreme and racist Netanyahu, but was practiced by previous governments, so that it became a consistent approach and policy for all successive governments of the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people.

These violations were not limited to killings and field executions, but also included widespread arrests affecting thousands of all groups of women, children and the elderly, including extensive administrative detentions, which intensified and expanded in recent months.

These violations also affected the most basic human rights, the basic freedoms attached to the human being, his dignity, his religious beliefs and rituals, including torture and brutal physical, psychological and moral abuse, touching even the bodies of the dead and martyrs, cemeteries, etc., in addition to the violation of political, economic and social rights, foremost of which is the right to self-determination and independence. These violations will not stop and will not end without defeating the occupation, liberating the occupied Palestinian lands, and establishing an independent, fully sovereign Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, so that some do not believe that the Palestinian struggle and the struggle of the Palestinian people is limited only to extracting the human rights and basic freedoms of our people, without ending the occupation and grabbing the right The achievement of independence, self-determination and the return of refugees under Resolution 149.

However, our focus in this article is on the flagrant violations of human rights and basic freedoms that we are witnessing and the world is witnessing in the occupied Palestinian territories, which have reached their climax in recent months, as these violations included violent, brutal and terrorist attacks that exceeded all limits and perceptions, by the occupation forces and brutal settler gangs against the Palestinians. All aspects of the normal daily life of Palestinians of all social groups, in all places in which they are, without exception, including inside homes and streets, in universities and schools, and even inside mosques and churches when Palestinians perform prayers in them, whether they are Muslims or Christians.

So that no one is safe in practicing his normal normal life practiced by humans.

All of this is taking place under the eyes and ears of the world without any tangible reaction against these violations that would stop these dangerous practices of the occupation, its various military, security, political and judicial arms, and its terrorist settlement gangs, which wage a violent and armed terrorist war, with the support and backing of the occupation forces and its most extremist government. And racism. International reactions were limited to rejecting these violations and issuing statements of condemnation and denunciation.

It was striking in this regard, and most important, that members of the US Congress, US President Joe Biden, and his Secretary of State Blinken, demanded that measures be taken to stop the use of US funding to violate human rights in the Palestinian territories.

Where they expressed concern about the escalating violence in the occupied West Bank, and the disturbing behavior practiced by the new extremist Israeli government, calling for urgent measures to be taken to prevent further loss of life. They demanded a change in US policy in light of the escalating violence, the continued seizure of land, and the denial of Palestinian rights, and indicated in their letter that the Israeli Minister of National Security Ben Gvir openly incites violence against the Palestinians, and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich announced his encouragement to exterminate the village of Hawara in the wake of The attacks launched by Israeli extremists against the village, and the presence of these two ministers in the current Israeli government makes them the most extremist in the history of Israel, because they encourage racist, oppressive, anti-democratic policies. The letter mentioned that since the beginning of the year, the Israeli occupation forces and settlers have killed more than 85 Palestinians, including 16 children, and that the past year was the most violent against Palestinians in the West Bank since 2004, and the past year witnessed the killing of two American citizens, Sherine Abu Aqleh and Omar Asaad. .

And they called on the Biden administration to ensure that taxpayer money does not go to support illegal settlement projects, and to ensure that US defense provisions are used outside the laws, including for purposes not authorized under Title IV of the Arms Export Control Act. They also called on the administration to ensure that any future aid to Israel, including arms exports, will not be used to support gross violations of human rights.

Exercising effective international pressure on the occupation government is one of the means to stop these violations against the Palestinian people, and perhaps the request of members of Congress is the most important in exercising these pressures. the previous one, without making its way towards the implementation and implementation of what was stated in it.

After an absence of 21 years in the occupation prisons, Marwan Barghouti is the most present and brilliant

Opinion Writer

When my memory goes back nearly forty years, I remember that energetic young man, Marwan Al-Barghouti, as he was released from the Israeli occupation prisons a few days ago, and immediately, like the rest of the released prisoners, he joined Bir Zeit University, and from here my story with Marwan began.

At the time, I was a student at An-Najah National University in Nablus, and like many students, I was a frequent visitor to prisons and their damp cells, because universities were par excellence incubators of national action against the occupation, so it is not surprising that students, especially activists, get to know each other. Zeit I got to know Brother Marwan, Samir Sbeihat, and Nayef Sweitat. This trio used to associate with each other, with a large number of young people leading the university, but these three were the most prominent among their colleagues.

At that time, the price of belonging to the movement and the struggle in its ranks was costly, and it was not just a picnic, either arrest or martyrdom, or persecution and then expulsion from Palestine, and Marwan Al-Barghouti paid these prices with his life, flesh and blood, so he was arrested, expelled and deported.

Perhaps the most important thing that distinguished Marwan from all of us is his superior dynamism, and his ability to adapt to any reality he lives in, as if he was born in it. And he was never calm during his leadership of students at the university, or during his deportation outside Palestine, where he received me in Jordan after my deportation and my relationship with him was greatly strengthened, hardly a single day passed without us meeting either in his warm home, or in the circles of the Palestine Liberation Organization in Jordan Marwan was a burning flame that would not be extinguished, working in all directions, meeting those coming from the occupied territories, providing them with everything they needed, listening to them, and conveying their concerns to the leadership, as he was a member of the Revolutionary Council of the Fatah movement, and he was the most loyal to his colleagues of experience and struggle, not forgetting any of them. He was always optimistic, and the smile did not leave him, but he was serious about his work and his many and exciting meetings that only he could do.

And when we returned to Palestine, where he preceded me by nearly two years, I found his name shining in the sky of the homeland, as Secretary of the Supreme Movement Committee of the Fatah movement, visiting the regions of the movement and inspecting the sites and reassuring the progress of work with the strength of the feat leader. Despite his absolute belief in peace, the occupation's denial of the agreements signed with him, and his failure to implement them, made Marwan ably lead the Al-Aqsa Intifada. Which made him a target for the occupation forces, as the assassination attempts failed, so he was arrested again in order to build there, in the darkness of the prisons, an academy to graduate batches of prisoners with bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees.

Marwan Al-Barghouti has not been absent from the Palestinian political scene for a single moment, despite the passage of twenty-one years since his arrest.

How much we need you among us, beloved brother, loyal friend, and inspiring leader, to evaluate the experience and start again.

The sufferings of Sudan

It is not the first time that the Sudanese army has stolen the results of the popular civil revolutions that broke out since independence in 1956 until today.

In every protest movement carried out by the Sudanese street, led by political parties, against a corrupt rule or authoritarian dictatorship, and succeeds in overthrowing a previous regime, until the army intervenes under different titles, pretexts, and pretexts, and controls the capabilities of power and governance, making false promises, for the return of civilians to power or Ending corruption, or other titles, this is what Ibrahim Abboud, Jaafar al-Numeiri and Omar al-Bashir did previously, and this is what Abdel Fattah al-Burhan did and still does.

What is new is the alliance that took place between the army commander, the leader of the coup, Al-Burhan, and the commander of the intervention forces, Muhammad Daglo Hamditi, who had a disagreement, and the bloody conflict broke out between them as we have been seeing it for days.

Many factors have prevented the people of Sudan from achieving their goals: democracy, pluralism, stability and decent living in a country rich in its food resources, including animals, agriculture and raw materials. These factors can be summarized as follows:

First: The weakness of the political parties and their inability to fulfill the frontal values and the failure to reach real common denominators among them through a united and serious national front that leads to mutual respect between the four political intellectual headings: 1- Islamic organizations, 2- The Communist Party, 3- The Baath Party, 4- Local national parties.

Whenever the street movement succeeds in overthrowing a former dictatorial rule or a corrupt regime, and the parties take over the administration of the state until their differences ignite, and give a justification for the army to intervene and end the partisan democratic system.

Second: the army's interference and control of power, the strong officers' ambitions for power and unilateralism in managing the state, and their rejection of democracy and resorting to the ballot box.

Third: The foreign interventions that play their role and influence in the course of events and direct them in favor of the military coup, because they refuse to assume the responsibility of the parties to manage the Sudanese state in accordance with the interests of the people of Sudan and their political and economic independence, and to keep them captive to backwardness, need, poverty, and dependency.

The bloody clashes between the two sides of the conflict: the army on one side, led by Al-Burhan, and the Rapid Intervention Forces, on the other, led by Daglo, will leave their devastating effects for years, regardless of who succeeds in liquidating the other.

They are both extremists, they disagree with each other, but they agree not to withdraw from power and not leave it to civilians, and they have been the same for 66 years since independence in 1956, when the army controlled power for more than 55 years, during which 17 coup attempts took place, of which three succeeded, and they seized power. For many years: Ibrahim Abboud, Jaafar al-Numeiri, Omar al-Bashir, and here is Al-Burhan, since his coup in 2019, looking for all pretexts and reasons to keep him in power for as long as possible.

External aggression to tighten an internal nerve in the state of the entity

The military, security and intelligence institutions of the entity state, along with many analysts, military experts, politicians, media professionals, and research and strategic thinking circles, gather that the state of alert that the entity state is experiencing has not ended at the limits of the decision approved by the deep state from the military, security, economic and banking sectors, and issued by the security and military institutions. From the police, the Shin Bet, the Chief of Staff, and the Minister of Defense, which is to prevent extremists from continuing their storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque during the last ten days of Ramadan, a decision strongly opposed by Netanyahu’s partners in the coalition, Ben Gvir and Smitrich, and this means that the rift between the components of the Netanyahu government is getting bigger and bigger. It seems that Netanyahu's decision to form a private militia for Ben Gvir, under the name of the National Guard, in return for not withdrawing from the government, due to Netanyahu's decision to freeze what was known as the judicial amendments, did not succeed in softening his positions and changing them... and this is a danger that threatens the Netanyahu government, which sought to fortify himself From the danger of trial on the three charges considered against him before the entity's state judiciary, bribery, bad credit and breach of trust, in alliance with these fascist forces.

The ban decision came as a result of two important factors: the steadfastness and bond of the seclusion in Al-Aqsa, and their confrontation with the extremist groups that sought to establish two spatial and temporal divisions in Al-Aqsa, and to create Jewish life and sanctity in it, and to complete the last ritual of what is known as the revival of the moral structure in Al-Aqsa Square, which is the introduction of animal offerings from Passover to its yards and massacred therein, and the escalation of resistance actions in the West Bank and the Palestinian interior - 48,
The second factor that dictated this decision was the fiery messages sent by the Jerusalem axis with a unified response by escalating the clash, and upgrading the path in activating the various fields for the unity of the squares, to reach the equation that His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said in May 2021, that tampering with Al-Aqsa means a regional war. The entity-state that is experiencing deep political, societal, and structural crises, and a deep struggle over the identity of the entity-state, an ideological and cultural struggle... that left its effects and imprints on the unity of the army, which Ben-Gurion, the founder of the entity-state and its first prime minister, called the "people's army," in terms of "dwarfing" This army and its disintegration, and the emergence of cases of rebellion from joining service and training in various military sectors, including not only the reserve forces or army, but the regular and permanent forces, which came as a result of Netanyahu’s insistence on implementing the project to control the judicial system and liberate the Knesset and the government from judicial oversight. What is known as the Supreme Court of Justice.

The ten-hour confrontation that took place last Thursday, 4/6/2023, clearly stated that the Prime Minister of the entity was under attack, and that the predicament he is in is part of the crisis of the entity’s state, and this was evident through the lackluster response to the missiles fired from southern Lebanon and the Gaza Strip Another response, in which Netanyahu convened the security cabinet, "the Cabinet", to search for a framed and restricted response that would accuse Hamas and distance it from Hezbollah, so that the entity's state would not get involved in a war with it. Obsession with the permanent state of the entity, but the entity state with its military and security institutions, as the writer "Hilach Shoval" said in an article in the "Israel Hayom" newspaper, know very well that missile launches cannot take place without the knowledge and knowledge of Hezbollah.

Netanyahu, who was looking for a response commensurate with restoring the prestige and power of deterrence, found himself in a further erosion of the prestige of deterrence, as he is not able to wage a battle on multiple fronts in an army that is unprepared and disjointed, and an entity that lives multiple internal crises, and between fear of a strong response He opens the gates of hell for him, and between a symbolic response that does not restore the prestige of deterrence, widens the holes in that prestige and the power of deterrence, and shackles his options in the future, he chose a symbolic and dull response and held the opposition in his press conference on Monday 4/10/2023 responsible for The attacks that were launched on it from several fronts, and he said that the surrender of that opposition to Hezbollah and its handing over of the gas of what he called the entity’s state gas to Hezbollah, is not a historic agreement, but rather a historic surrender.
It is clear that the forces of the axis of resistance have succeeded in breaking the prestige of the entity and have established new rules of deterrence and engagement, and their fiery messages have reached the "unity of response".

The state of the entity that accepted and decided to prevent the herds of extremists from continuing their incursions into Al-Aqsa, is fully aware that the state of escalation did not end within the limits of this prevention, and it may be within the tactical framework, in order to pass its holidays of Easter and the anniversary of the Nakba Day, "Independence", and the anniversary of "the unification of Jerusalem". Completing the occupation of the eastern part of it...and the data, information, estimates and analyzes gather that there will be days of fighting on the northern and southern fronts, and this is evident from the deployment of the Iron Domes and the call-up of reserve forces and additional battalions of air defense, and the support of the army with forces from commando units, in the central region And Tel Aviv, for fear of missile attacks or marches from several fronts, in light of the coincidence of the International Quds Day with the last Friday of Ramadan, as well as the escalation of resistance actions in the West Bank, Jerusalem and the Palestinian interior - 48 - from armed clashes, shooting, stabbing, running over and others.

The entity's state wants to restore the deterrence force, and in its focus on the Hamas movement, by firing rockets from Lebanon and the Gaza Strip, and its focus also on the meetings of the leadership of the Hamas movement with the leadership of Hezbollah under the leadership of His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, and considering the picture that brought Haniyeh together with His Eminence as a thousand pictures. It reveals that His Eminence is not as the security and intelligence services of the entity live, that he lives in a basement or basement, but rather attends meetings and iftars, and participates strongly in the common room of the Jerusalem axis.

The state of the entity is planning to launch an aggression until now whose destination we do not know, is it Lebanon, the Gaza Strip, Syria, or the battle of the "defensive wall" in the Palestinian north, similar to the battle of the "defensive wall" in 2000.

An external aggression aimed at tightening the nerve of its internal unity, and saving the Netanyahu government from collapse, losing his political and personal future, and spending the rest of his life in prison, but will this aggression contribute to the restoration of the deterrent force by the entity state, or will it find itself facing a major erosion in its deterrent power against the Jerusalem axis that moves From the unity of concept to the unity of application, especially since the state of the entity is in a moment of security and political exposure, this was proven through the ten-hour battle on Thursday 6/4/2023...??.

The state of the entity in the last ten years is going towards a historical slope, without constraints or controls, and it seems that the tripartite on which the Zionist project “security, immigration and settlement” is based is approaching its end, and perhaps the battle of “Saif al-Quds”, May 2021, came as a station with an important indication of this The road, where I went through the awareness of the entity state with the question of existential anxiety.

Words from the heart to my friend Marwan Barghouti

At the height of its inability to break the thorn of the second intifada; The Israeli Occupation Army forces targeted the kidnapping of MP Marwan Al-Barghouti, in a desperate attempt to achieve a "victory", albeit a symbolic one, that they had been unable to achieve against the revolution of a people who would not allow the passage of Barak-Sharon's plans to resolve the battle of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa, after the failure of the Camp David talks, as Barak adopted at the time the argument That there is no Palestinian partner, and he had stated upon his return from Camp David, that he "revealed the veil on Arafat's face," and then allowed Sharon to storm Al-Aqsa to prove this position, which sparked the second intifada.

The opinion of Commander Marwan, which he told me in a meeting that brought us together at Samer Restaurant in Al-Bireh after Sharon was elected prime minister of the occupation government, was that "thwarting Sharon and overthrowing his aggressive plans is the highest priority for our people, and that confronting this aggression will bring down Sharon, and with him the most difficult and dangerous link in the occupation's quiver will be broken." . However, the September 11th bombings made this priority impossible, as Sharon was able to link his comprehensive aggression against the rights of our people and their national cause, with the global war against terrorism, aiming to destroy the justice and status of the Palestinian cause, as a prelude to its liquidation.

Barak's war, and after that Sharon's, was a strategic military decision previously taken by the Israeli military and security establishments, and for this purpose they conducted military maneuvers after the tunnel intifada to simulate the reoccupation of Palestinian cities. This decision marked the beginning of the implementation of the full-fledged bloody Israeli coup against the "peace process", which was pre-designed with the assassination of Rabin.

Marwan’s arrest, in addition to an attempt to break his charismatic symbolism due to his distinguished role in directing and leading the uprising, was also aimed at trying to extract a confession from him “against Yasser Arafat, the wanted head” to label President Abu Ammar himself as “terrorist,” which Marwan recorded in his book “A Thousand Days in a Cell.” Solitary confinement”, as a prelude to the isolation and liquidation of Abu Ammar. This meticulously planned coup was the beginning of the war, which we are witnessing its continuation today, to Judaize Jerusalem and control its holy sites, especially Al-Aqsa Mosque.

I got to know the national leader Marwan Barghouti during my few visits to Birzeit University in the mid-1980s, and our relationship strengthened in Amman during our joint work within the framework of the Great Intifada Support Committee during the years of expulsion of each of us. Marwan had an insightful vision about the requirements of the future struggle against the occupation, and he worked hard to establish the Supreme Movement Committee as a reference capable of adapting to the requirements of the uprising, especially in terms of what it brought about in shifting the center of gravity of the national process to the occupied territory, and what the political process that began in Madrid, and as long as we exchanged views on the requirements of the continuation of the national struggle and its tight linking with the requirements of the democratic building of our people's institutions, which began their inception during the uprising and the battles of national disobedience to extract our people's right to freedom and self-determination.

He always believed that the function of these institutions, including the institutions of the National Authority, which was formed later, should be a lever for his steadfastness in the battle for complete salvation from the occupation.

Our relationship continued after the return from our forced deportation, on the fifth of April 1994, that is, a month before what became known as the "Gaza Jericho" agreement, and he saw in the transitional period an opportunity to build institutions capable of strengthening the steadfastness of the people, and consolidating the democracy that our national struggle needs, and that the people deserve. The uprising to renew its leaders in the ongoing battle of freedom.

And with the exposure of the Israeli game that wanted the "Oslo process" to be a mere "defense" on the Great Intifada, to perpetuate the occupation and liquidate our national cause; Marwan chose his place and role in confronting this plot.

My brother Aba Al-Qassam
Talking about your rich journey on the twenty-first anniversary of your kidnapping, which coincides with the Palestinian Prisoner’s Day, which our people celebrated yesterday, and it is a journey rich in lessons, which certainly cannot be accommodated by a mere article in my weekly column.

From the position of our friendship, and the company of the common struggle that brought us together and the thousands of fighters, many of whom died or were captured, and others are still holding on to the embers of the idea that is exposed to an unprecedented danger. I found it my duty to address you from the heart to the heart, and it is difficult for any person to address a leader shackled between the bars of the jailer, seeking the help of his position while he is subjected to isolation and oppression. Our people share my opinion of the necessity of resorting to the conscience of the people and its leaders, the free prisoners, and on top of them you are my brother Marwan, because of the high and influential position that you enjoy, which was achieved with the most precious sacrifices, at a time when the status and role of the national movement is collapsing, and its leadership suffers from unprecedented schizophrenia and alienation with the pulse of our struggling people. Just as the prisoners proposed their historical document for the unity of the national struggle, hopes are pinned on you today, my brother Abu al-Qassam, and who is more deserving of that than you, to take the initiative within the framework of a national and unitary vision that has always characterized you in your revolutionary career, and in a manner that enables the building of a broad national coalition based on sincerity and competence. And integrity, to include all the fighters who are zealous for the future of our people in this country and the fate of their national cause, for unified action to restore the institutions of our people from the state of division and exclusivity that almost leads to sacrifices for more than a century, and ravages the national and democratic achievements that were achieved with the sacrifices of martyrs and the torments of prisoners.

The need for the initiative of the prisoners

As I appeal to you, I feel the national need to throw your weight and the prisoners of our people to give this matter the highest priority it needs, which you certainly realize. How much our people, who are still making sacrifices, are in dire need of an initiative launched by you to contribute to rebuilding the national movement and the democratic renewal of its inclusive institutions within the framework of both the organization and the authority, and correcting the relationship in the role of each of them, in order to return them to an integrated path and capable of linking the tasks of our people For national liberation on the path of freedom, return and self-determination, with the extent to which it needs effective and effective institutions that enjoy people's trust. Which, in the belief of many of our people, requires an immediate and comprehensive agreement to form a transitional government of serious and sincere national competencies; Its highest priority is to prepare for holding comprehensive general elections within an agreed time frame that does not exceed a year, and it works to harness all its resources with fairness and integrity within the framework of correcting economic and social policies, and the requirements of transitional justice by restoring the independence of the judiciary, in a way that enhances the ability of our people to withstand in their fierce battle against liquidation schemes .

And soon, my brother Marwan, with your freedom and all the free female and male captives, foremost among them is the struggling prisoner Walid Daqqa, “the Fuchik of Palestine,” as my friend, the novelist Marwan Abdel-Al, describes it. Walid, who freed his soul from prison with his writings, and we all have a responsibility to liberate his sick body so that he can recover and gain his freedom with his daughter, the daughter of freedom and life, Milad.

The Palestinians have a historic opportunity, so let them hasten to seize it before it is lost

I claim that the Palestinians have a golden historical opportunity, whose area can be expanded, or it can be closed, and the time period required to judge whether it will be used for the benefit of the Palestinian people or not, continues from now until the end of next year, based on the four points mentioned below.

First: The old world is collapsing and a new world is emerging

It must start from the fact that the historic opportunity began to loom on the horizon after the Ukrainian war, and the clarity of international double standards in dealing with the occupied Palestinian people for 75 years, and subject to racist settler colonialism that committed all kinds of crimes against humanity, and was not held accountable, but is dealt with as a result of protection As a state above international law, far from accountability, sanctions, and isolation, it has not implemented any resolution against it, despite the issuance of hundreds of resolutions by the Security Council, the General Assembly, and UN agencies.

However, by virtue of siding with the executioner at the expense of the victim, the signs of this historical opportunity did not appear clearly. That is, it could not be employed except after the Ukrainian war and its repercussions contributed to putting an end to the unipolar international system, and the beginning of the emergence of a new world order whose features were not clearly and completely crystallized until now. Where it could be bipolar, multipolar, or a new system, we know at least that it will not be controlled by one country, and it will be better, merciful, or less bad than the old unilateral system, in which the United States practiced all kinds of injustice, discrimination, domination, exploitation, wars, and fragmentation, especially In the Middle East, which occupied a wide position within the American plans.

Second: the ongoing deep structural Israeli crisis

Since the beginning of this year, Israel has been going through a deep, unprecedented structural crisis that is likely to continue - even if a settlement is reached - for a long period, if not forever. This crisis began with the formation of an Israeli government that is the most extreme since the establishment of the occupying entity until now, a crisis that deepened Israeli weaknesses and made Israel weaker than ever before, without forgetting that it is a nuclear state and is superior militarily, economically, security and technologically, and has organic relations with the most powerful country. In the world; Where the conflict has become open between the current and the founding parties of Israel and the secular and liberal Ashkenazi parties, and between the more extreme nationalist and religious parties, which want to establish a Sharia state on the ruins of the Jewish liberal state that Israel has represented so far.

And whoever does not believe what we went to, let him look at the demonstrations that have taken place in Israeli cities since the beginning of this year, which on March 27 reached the brink of civil disobedience, and perhaps civil war, had it not been for the temporary retreat of the government after the unprecedented American intervention in approving the laws that govern its control over The judiciary, having taken control of the legislative and executive powers. During the coming period, which will not increase from now until the end of next year, at the latest, it will become clear whether the various parties within the government and the opposition will reach a settlement that will calm the volatile internal and external situation until it erupts again, or not?

At this stage, it will become clear whether the government will stand or collapse and form a broad government, and perhaps national unity, especially if the current government chooses to export its crisis to an external enemy whose enmity the two sides agree on, and the need to fight it? In light of this scenario, one must prepare for a military aggression against the Palestinians, less for a war with Hezbollah, and perhaps much less for a regional war.

In this aforementioned stage, which will extend until the end of next year, the end or extension of the Ukrainian war will appear, and in favor of whom, and its full repercussions on the international system, and where will the Sino-American competition, whose title is Taiwan, reach, but in essence the struggle over who will lead the new world, and over What grounds and rules?

This stage will also witness the US presidential elections in November 2024, in which if the Republican Party headed by Donald Trump or another similar Republican candidate succeeds, this will give great support and the elixir of life to the Kahanist government, and this portends if the historic opportunity is not seized by its end. Instead, there will be greater risks represented in the implementation of the scheme of annexation, Judaization, displacement, apartheid, and military aggression.

Third: the strategic changes taking place in the region

The region is witnessing strategic changes between the Arab countries, and the Gulf countries in particular, and between Iran and Turkey. Enemies have become friends and allies, and the Gulf countries, Saudi Arabia in particular, have adopted a new policy, diversifying their relations between the East, led by China and Russia, and the West, led by America, and seek to resolve crises from the Yemeni war, through Lebanon and the return of Syria to the Arab League, not End in Lebanon and Palestine.

I think, and not all suspicions are sinful, that this year, and at the latest next year, it will become clear whether the Arab countries can pave a new path in which they will restore the status of their countries and the Arab role. As it takes its proper place in the map of the new world, or will America, Israel and other internal and external parties disturbed and affected by the new Arab path be able to return the situation to what it was, and worse, or with some formal and tactical changes? It is not easy to turn back the changes that have taken place in the region, especially since their motives are many, from various parties, and they began many years ago.

Fourth: Uprisings and waves of uprising in Palestine

Since 2015, Palestine has been witnessing successive popular and armed uprisings and waves, most notably the uprising of dignity and the Sword of Jerusalem in May 2021, and the launch of an uprising wave since March 2022, larger than its predecessors, leaving more than 50 Israelis dead and hundreds wounded, as a result of mostly individual resistance operations, which the occupation admits is impossible. Preventing it, in addition to forming armed resistance brigades in Jenin, Nablus and other areas.

The Israeli security services have failed in the face of this phenomenon, and despite the gaps and mistakes they suffer from and the lack of an intellectual, political, organizational, leadership and program incubator, it indicates that the Palestinian people, as usual, take more and more initiative to defend their cause, rights and existence, especially after the emergence of a vacuum As a result of the previously adopted strategies reaching a dead end, and after the occurrence of the Palestinian political, geographical and institutional division, which expresses itself in the worst way through the existence of two conflicting authorities, the competition and conflict between them overshadows everything else.

This wave continued, and took new forms, reaching the extent witnessed by the popular and armed resistance this Ramadan, especially the implementation of rocket launches from Lebanon, the Gaza Strip and Syria, in a maneuver with live ammunition, to test the extent of damage to Israeli deterrence as a result of the structural crisis that Israel is witnessing. Where it showed its weakness, and that it is a serious damage, without ever meaning that it lost the ability to attack in order to restore Israeli deterrence.

In order to realize the extent of the damage caused, we point out that the Israeli deterrence theory was based on several pillars, most notably: retaining the initiative to attack, limiting the battle to the enemy’s home front away from his own, quickly resolving the battle in his favor, and retaining the last word on the battlefield, so how much is left? This theory in light of reading what happens in the previous battles?

A message to the president and the two poles of division (Fatah and Hamas)

In order for Palestine to be able to capitalize on the historical opportunity before it is lost or exhausted, a comprehensive structural change must be made in the institution, vision, political discourse, decision-making mechanism, and those who control it. Where the foundations of true partnership for the various colors of the political and social spectrum are based on national and democratic foundations, in a way that achieves the rebuilding, unification and activation of the institutions of the Liberation Organization, the national entity, to become in word and deed the legitimate representative of the Palestinian people. Because the continuation of the division, its deepening, and its arrival to separation, and to more fragmentation and division; He cannot take advantage of the available opportunity. Rather, the risks and challenges that could take away the remaining Palestinian gains, including the unity of Palestinian representation, will multiply. Where the Israeli option and the Arab and international options and alternatives will advance to replace it in an attempt to save what can be saved.

This change can be imposed by the people and the forces that believe in the necessity for it to happen, or initiate it, or at least President Mahmoud Abbas and the Fatah movement participate in it, by considering what remains of his life in power as a transitional period, in which the Palestinian house is comprehensively arranged before a scenario emerges. messes with his head and eats everything in his path; Where he ends his reign by providing the conditions for a peaceful and democratic transfer of power after him, especially in light of the hollowing out and disruption of institutions, the cancellation of elections, and the failure to hold the eighth Fatah conference on foundations that restore Fatah’s splendor, unity, and effectiveness, and what this requires of serious endeavor to end the division, and restore unity on the basis of a national program. It embodies the common denominators, most of which are in the presence of a government in Israel whose program is to crush the Palestinian cause and liquidate it from its various aspects and parties, including the PA. Rather, it will collapse and be replaced by local and municipal administrations that are not linked by an inclusive link, embodying the argument that there is no Palestinian people, and this is not the opinion of a minority in the Kahanist government, but rather the opinion of a majority in the Israeli elite.

We should not wait for an invitation from Arab or foreign countries to achieve reconciliation, just as Saudi Arabia’s invitation to a delegation headed by President Mahmoud Abbas raised hopes that might be false. Speculation about the possibility of a Saudi-Palestinian initiative to complement the set of initiatives that it started after the Beijing tripartite agreement to reach a solution to the Yemeni war, restore Saudi-Syrian relations, and solve the crisis in the election of the President of Lebanon; Because it will not succeed unless it really exists, and if it finds a Palestinian willingness and response to the invitation, and the requirements for its success. The Arab summit that will be held in Riyadh next May is a golden opportunity to revive the file of national unity in a different way than before.

There is a new area, as what happened before the Ukrainian war is different from what followed it, and the return of Iranian-Saudi relations is just an example. Where bilateral, regional and regional meetings were held, and the changes taking place in them, unfortunately, the Palestinian cause is not at its heart, "the absent has no deputy", despite its central position; This is due to the decline in its priority, and the absence of a Palestinian leadership that is controlled only by the survival of the Authority, and is waiting for salvation from the unknown, instead of taking the initiative to be present in every place required by the Palestinian interest, and considering what is happening as a new, serious and historical opportunity that will not last forever to end the division and unify the two authorities, within a solution. The comprehensive package that is implemented in parallel and synchronously as much as possible, according to a detailed road map that does not skip anything essential; Because that would be like a mine that will explode at any next station, especially since the occupation has played and will play a major role in thwarting any initiative to achieve Palestinian unity, which is based on principles, interests and the local, regional and international balance of power.

In order for Saudi Arabia, or any other country, to succeed in achieving unity, it must involve other countries and parties concerned, especially Egypt, and benefit from its experiences. Solutions must be put in place to the huge obstacles and obstacles in front of unity, which prevented its achievement in the past, and will prevent it now and in the future. If you do not provide appropriate solutions. This requires realizing that unity will not be achieved through a decision, quickly, and from the top only, but rather from the bottom up and vice versa, and within a persistent historical process that knows when to start, the point on which the Palestinian cause stands, the parties it represents, the goal it will seek to achieve and how it can be achieved.

Here, any solution must include agreement on the formation of a government of national unity and a temporary consensual transitional body that will lead the transitional phase, in a manner that does not prejudice the organization’s powers and legitimacy, and to appeal to the people through elections, and by national consensus if elections are not possible, and to adopt the political program The importance it deserves, and that the unity agreement, especially the government that forms, be able to take off, fly, and reach the desired station, based on Palestinian interests, rights, and goals, far from reproducing the failed settlement process without ignoring international law and United Nations resolutions, and paving the way for negotiations to implement International legitimacy is not negotiable, apart from the Quartet's unjust conditions, especially after the Quartet died, and after successive Israeli governments killed the so-called "peace process".

Before the recent Israeli, regional and international changes, the situation was and still is heading towards an explosion more than towards a popular uprising. However, if the process of achieving unity on the basis of changing the course and adopting a participatory democratic national path is achieved or started, then it will move towards a victorious uprising. An uprising with a single leadership, absorbing the lessons of the previous uprisings, and with a realistic and achievable national goal, and it must be ending the occupation and embodying the state on the 1967 borders, at the same time continuing the struggle for the right of return and equality on the path of a radical, historical democratic solution.

Blinkin talks with Al-Burhan and Daglo and calls for a cease-fire in Sudan

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken held talks with the two parties to the conflict in Sudan, the army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the commander of the Rapid Deterrence Forces, Muhammad Hamdan Dagalo, where he "stressed the need to reach a cease-fire," according to ministry spokesman Vedant Patil on Tuesday.

Patel said that Blinken, who is in Japan to attend the G7 foreign ministers' meetings, had two separate conversations with the two generals, in which he expressed his "grave concern over the killing and wounding of many Sudanese civilians as a result of the ongoing and indiscriminate fighting."

Three days ago, the bloody clashes between the army and the Rapid Support Forces left more than 200 dead and 1,800 wounded.

Patel added that Blinken, in his speech, "stressed the responsibility of the two generals to ensure the security and safety of civilians, diplomats and humanitarian workers."

Blinken emphasized that the cease-fire "allows the delivery of humanitarian aid to those affected by the fighting, reunites Sudanese families, and allows the international community in Khartoum to make sure that its presence is safe."

The "humanitarian corridors" announced by the warring parties for three hours on Sunday afternoon failed to change the situation, as gunfire and explosions continued to be heard in Khartoum.

In addition to the indiscriminate gunshots that resulted in the killing of three World Food Program employees in Darfur, humanitarian workers had to deal with looting in the region, according to Save the Children.

On Monday night, the European Union announced that its ambassador in Khartoum had been "assaulted" at his home.

Tension had been lurking for weeks between al-Burhan and Dagalo, known as "Hemeti", who together removed civilians from power during a coup in October 2021, before their political dispute over power in particular turned into confrontations on Saturday.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation withdraws from Twitter after designating its account as "government-funded media".

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation " CBC " announced its withdrawal from Twitter after classifying its account as "government-funded media", which it considered unfair and cast doubt on its impartiality.

This step comes after the withdrawal of "National Public Radio" (NPR) in the United States from Twitter for the same reason, and the success of the British Broadcasting Corporation "BBC" by changing its classification from "government funding" to "public funding".

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and its French-language Radio-Canada said in a statement that Twitter had added the hashtag "government-funded media" to their accounts, describing this type of treatment as similar to dealing with the media of authoritarian countries such as Russia or China.

The statement added that this marking in their case is "untrue and misleading".

Although the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation is publicly funded, its editorial independence is protected by the Canadian Broadcasting Act.

"Twitter can be a powerful tool for our journalists to connect with Canadians, but it undermines the accuracy and professionalism of the work they do by allowing our independence to be misrepresented in this way."

"We will be pausing our activity on our corporate Twitter account and all CBS and Radio Canada News accounts," she added.

CBC urged Canadians to follow her on other social media.

Conservative Canadian opposition leader Pierre Boliever, who has publicly expressed his disdain for the CBC and its funding methods, wrote last week to Elon Musk urging him to label it "government-funded media" on Twitter.

This is in the interest of transparency, he said, noting that nearly two-thirds of its funding in the 2021-2022 fiscal year was from the federal government.

On Monday, Liberal Prime Minister Justin Trudeau blasted his rival for "attacking this Canadian institution and attacking culture and its local content, which is so important to so many Canadians."

Since Musk acquired Twitter, the company has eased its restrictions on content and allowed the return of tweeters who had been banned for inciting hatred and spreading misinformation.

He has for years disdained the news media, recently installing an automatic e-mail reply of feces to reporters' inquiries.

News organizations are struggling to abandon the platform, which remains a major means of communication for celebrities, politicians and elites.

US consumer spending and retail sales fell in March

US retail spending fell in March as consumers slumped after a banking crisis fueled recession fears, adding to signs of a slowing economy, CNN reported.

The US Commerce Department noted on Friday that retail sales fell 1 percent in March from the previous month, sharper than the expected 0.4 percent decline.

Economists at the Federal Reserve predicted that the US economy would head into recession later in the year as the delayed effects of interest rate hikes take deeper root. Fed economists had predicted anemic growth, with risks of recession, before the collapse of Silicon Valley and Signature.
