The decline of the regional and international status of the Palestinian cause

Written by: Dr. Salah's mind

Many factors and events have affected the Palestinian cause, which led to a decline in interest in it, and it has become a secondary issue. The outbreak of the so-called Arab revolutions led to a direct and substantial impact on the Palestinian cause, and it became a marginal issue because the Arab countries and the world were preoccupied with the wars and destruction that befell the region of the Arab world, and attention began to focus on change in the region, and every country became preoccupied and searching for salvation from its crisis. Or the catastrophe that befell it as a result of the fighting and destruction, and the biggest beneficiary of that was Israel, which took advantage of that to pounce on what was left of the Palestinian cause. Israel has monopolized the Palestinian people and waged many wars against Gaza, taking advantage of the situation in the region and the state of indifference to the Palestinian cause on the part of the Arabs, to turn the Palestinian cause from the first issue to the forgotten issue, and this is considered the first factor. ‏
The second factor is neglecting and targeting the Palestinian cause after the election of the Zionist American President Donald Trump on January 20, 2017 - January 20, 2021, who took many decisions regarding the Palestinian cause, including the announcement on December 6, 2017, that The city of Jerusalem is the capital of the occupying state, and on May 14, 2018, the US embassy was transferred to occupied Jerusalem, and on August 2, 2018, US aid to the Palestinian Authority was stopped, and on August 3, 2018, all aid to UNRWA was cut off, and on September 10 September 2018, the PLO office in Washington was closed, and on November 18, 2019, the existing settlements on the lands of the West Bank were legalized, and the US administration announced its agreement to annex and impose Israel’s sovereignty over the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea and to expand settlements in the West Bank, to annex 33% of the West Bank, which leads to the liquidation of the Palestinian cause, the end of the right of return, and the dream of establishing a Palestinian state on the 1967 borders; This is what former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced with the slogan “Peace in exchange for peace.” This is what happened after the UAE and many Arab countries brazenly normalized relations with Israel in light of the targeting of the Palestinian cause. This step must be defined as a step to open the Arab gate. For more free normalization with Israel, without a radical solution to the Palestinian issue and repudiation of the Arab Peace Initiative that was launched at the Beirut Summit in 2002, which ends the Palestinian issue as the central Arab issue to become the issue of the besieged and divided Palestinians. ‏
The third factor is the world’s preoccupation with the epidemic, which affected all levels and levels, as countries were preoccupied with how to confront the epidemic threat and economic collapse, and then the Russian-Ukrainian war, unlimited global support for Ukraine, and double standards towards the Ukrainian issue and the Palestinian issue that has been suffering for seven years. decades of continued occupation brutality; In light of Israel's preoccupation with settlement expansion, killings, wars, arrests, and demolitions without drawing even the world's attention to Israel's policies, this culminated in the announcement of the annexation of the West Bank, and the refusal of former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, elected on June 13, 2021, to negotiate with the Palestinian Authority, and refused to sit with The Palestinian President, and this was announced by Bennett on September 14, 2021, and Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked, on October 3, 2021, refused President Abbas's invitation to sit with her. ‏
The Palestinian cause has been and continues to be neglected by the international community, the bias and endless support of the American and British administrations for Israel, the weakness of international bodies, organizations and institutions and their inability to implement international resolutions, until the level of weakness has reached their inability to condemn settlements in the West Bank and all This is a result of the dominance of the United States of America through its veto over these human rights institutions, and the preoccupation of the countries of the world with the deteriorating economic situation and the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, in addition to the Arabs’ distancing from the Palestinian cause and the search for the interests of the Arab rulers by remaining in power by appeasing the Americans and implementing what they demand. Especially the rapprochement with Israel until the limit reached the stage of strategic alliance and security cooperation in all its details.
As for the subjective factors, they are many, varied, interrelated and interdependent with each other, such as division, administrative and financial corruption, security coordination, lack of freedoms, extreme poverty, high unemployment, lack of hope for change, political arrest, the killing of the popular activist Nizar Banat, the worsening level of crime in the shadow of the absence of a deterrent law, loss of hope and lack of confidence. Political leadership, the failure to hold general elections, the clinging of the influential political leadership to the chairs until all Palestinian institutions are led by the youngest generation of 70 years, and the lack of possession or development of programs and plans aimed at supporting the steadfastness of citizens.
In addition to the weakness of the position and the inability of the Palestinian leadership, which still does not believe in anything other than negotiations to end the occupation and fights the resistance and bets on the American position and sponsor of the stalled Palestinian-Israeli negotiations, and what remains of them and the Oslo agreement is only sacred security coordination, which increased the marginalization and absence of the Palestinian cause internationally and in the Arab world. In addition to the American, Israeli, and British targeting of the Palestinian cause, perhaps the recent British decision to consider Hamas a terrorist organization and an outlaw serves to punish the Palestinian people and shamelessly support the occupation and Arab normalization. And most importantly, the Palestinian policies that could not get out of the negotiation circle, and not to inspect and put forward plans that force the world to pay attention to the Palestinian cause, as martyr President Yasser Arafat did when he returned from Camp David in 2000 to announce the outbreak of a second intifada that was able to restore political life. And others for the Palestinian cause, and to turn the tables on everyone, and from here he was able to restore respect for the Palestinian cause and restore the Palestinian file to occupy the position and the Arab and international public opinion, and everyone is looking for solutions in order to put an end to the burning intifada.
As for the level of Palestinian internal politics within the framework of national relations; The Palestinian organizations' position does not rise to the size of the plan to liquidate the issue. The internal Palestinian politics go from one setback to the next, and the internal political disputes are exacerbated, which in turn affects the level of Arab and international sympathy and solidarity with the Palestinian cause. Division, siege, wars, and Gazan life are devastated at all levels. In the West Bank, the state of chaos, security chaos, unemployment, poverty, and corruption strikes with all the might of the people. ‏
The Palestinian case is unique, as the Palestinian elections took place in 1996 and then did not take place until after the martyrdom of President Yasser Arafat, as President Mahmoud Abbas was elected in 2005, and presidential elections can only be held after the death of President Abbas, may God extend his life, and then The radical change is taking place in the Palestinian case. But that does not mean stillness, as the Palestinian cause is governed by a rule that states that "the momentary variable is the only constant." ‏
The current official Palestinian leadership bears all responsibility for what the Palestinian cause has reached. Therefore, it and the factions and the national whole are required to take the following steps:
1. Implementing the decisions of the National and Central Councils regarding defining the relationship with Israel, withdrawing its recognition, and ending security coordination from the Palestinian dictionary. ,
2. Starting from the agreement that took place between the Palestinian organizations in Cairo in February 2021, with Egyptian mediation, which provided for the holding of the third general elections, as Presidential Decree No. 3 was issued on January 15, 2021, to hold presidential and legislative elections. And the National Council, which is to hold legislative elections on May 22, 2021, and according to the decree, presidential elections will be held at the end of July 2021, given that the results of the Legislative Council elections are the first stage in the formation of the Palestinian National Council, provided that the election of members of the Council is completed The National Assembly at the end of August 2021, in accordance with the basic system of the Liberation Organization and national understandings, so that the elections for the National Council will be held wherever possible, and the general elections will be reconsidered on the basis of this agreement, from the stopping point that began when the legislative elections were postponed on April 30, 2021.
3. Formation of a national unity government whose main task is to prepare for the legislative and presidential elections to renew the legitimacy of all the bodies of the Palestinian people, including the National Council, the Central Council, and the Executive Committee.
4. Immediately lifting the blockade imposed on the Strip, announcing the end of all decisions taken by the President regarding the Strip and Hamas, and treating Gaza employees as employees of the West Bank.
5. Rehabilitation of the Palestine Liberation Organization, and the consideration of the Palestinian Authority and its government as one of the bodies of the Liberation Organization, leading to the termination of the Authority in its current form, so that the Liberation Organization is the one with sovereignty over power, and not the other way around.
6. Reforming the Palestine Liberation Organization, by taking an urgent step represented by the joining of the Hamas and Islamic Jihad movements to the organization, leading to the reconfiguration of the organization’s committees based on the elections.
7. Dealing positively with the vision paper that Ismail Haniyeh, head of the political bureau of Hamas, presented to the Egyptian leadership at the end of November 2021, and the document of leader Nasser Al-Qudwa, which he presented at the end of July 2022, to get out of the Palestinian crisis, which is a programmatic paper. A mission that can be built on, and open a serious dialogue towards implementing its provisions. ‏
8. Opening the way for the masses to take the initiative, and for the security services not to interfere with the popular action. Rather, the security services must be a supportive factor supporting the movements and protecting the people from the danger of occupation. ,
9. Releasing political prisoners in both parts of the country, stopping media harassment, and preparing the atmosphere for initiatives of unity and cohesion in confronting the occupation.
10. Moving away from the policy of leadership succession by stirring up rumors, feeling the pulse and preparing the ground for succession from the gate of history and revolutionary legitimacy and other names that are outside the democratic understanding and the foundations of assuming power. The process of circumventing the general elections will not succeed due to popular rejection. In addition to the sharp division within the political elites, specifically within Fatah centralism, and most importantly, the increase in the number of elites who are bossy in the Palestinian case, and most of them find electoral and even revolutionary eligibility for themselves. ‏
11. Fighting rampant corruption in the Palestinian Authority, giving freedom of expression, placing the right man in the right place, and reviewing all the promotions and appointments approved for the children of officials at the expense of the citizen.

The Russian army: The naval maneuvers with China are a "reaction" to Washington's "aggressive" stance in Asia

Moscow - (AFP) - Russian Chief of Staff Valery Gerasimov said Thursday that the naval maneuvers planned for this week between the Russian and Chinese navies in the East China Sea are a "response" to the "aggressive" position of the United States in Asia.

"This cooperation is a natural reaction to the aggressive accumulation of US military capabilities in the region," Gerasimov was quoted by Russian news agencies as saying.

He added, "The Russian-Chinese naval and air patrols in the Asia-Pacific region, exercises and exercises have become a practical implementation of the strategic partnership with China."

Russia announced Monday that many of its warships will participate between December 21 and 27 in exercises with the Chinese navy, while Moscow and Beijing are their relations against the West at the height of the conflict in Ukraine.

The Russian Defense Ministry said at the time that joint missile, artillery and anti-submarine warfare exercises were also included in the programme.

Valery Gerasimov confirmed Thursday that "the aim of these exercises is to increase the combat harmony of the soldiers and forces of the two countries and their ability to resist new challenges and threats."

The Russian chief of staff said that Moscow and Beijing do not intend, however, to "create alliances" or create "new divisions in the region, as Washington does."

Russia has been seeking for months to strengthen its relations with Asian countries, especially China, in the face of Western sanctions imposed on it in the wake of its attack on Ukraine.

The Palestinian Authority between state and chaos

Written by: Ibrahim Ibrash

The final indecisiveness of the Palestinian leadership regarding the transition from a status of a limited self-governing authority to a state under occupation, even though President Abu Mazen, in his speech at the United Nations General Assembly, left the door open to all possibilities, requires a rational and objective approach to the future of the authority and its obligations according to the Oslo Accords, especially since Voices are rising calling for its overthrow, and some are working to weaken it. This coincides with: the escalation of commando operations against the occupation, the increasing state of anger against the authority, continuous Israeli efforts to weaken the authority, the suspension of the political settlement process, the consolidation of division, and the absence of a horizon for the electoral process.

We wrote dozens of articles on the national authority and talked about the subject in dozens of conferences, seminars, interviews and through audio-visual media, in which we said that the self-rule authority restricted by the requirements of the Oslo Accord is not a final or fixed given of our national rewards, but rather it is a temporary condition that can be overcome if there is the national will to change its function. Or by moving to the state or by returning to the state of national liberation, as we distinguished between the principle of the existence of a national authority on the one hand and the mistakes and abuses of the ruling political class on the other hand. However, for some to demand the dissolution of the authority without preparing a national alternative, this will lead to a state of chaos from which only the enemy will benefit. Today, after the passage of lean years, there has been no transition towards the state, nor a return to the state of national liberation, nor the rebuilding and revival of the PLO, nor an end to the division, but rather the authority has become even weaker. The weakness and exposure of its opponents has increased. Some are still calling for the abolition of the authority or working to weaken it!

The effects and repercussions of overthrowing or dissolving the Palestinian National Authority will not be limited to the collapse of the government and its institutions and the consequent cessation of the payment of salaries and the provision of basic services to the majority of citizens, or the end of the Fatah movement’s control over power. The Zionist entity and those with a non-national agenda, and with the state of weakness that the PLO is in, the Hamas movement and its authority in the Gaza Strip remain the main address for the Palestinians, and Israel is ready to deal with this address.

It is not a questioning of the intentions of all opponents of the authority, nor of the intentions of all the armed youth expelled from Israel and sometimes from the authority in the West Bank; The latter accumulated mistakes, which angered many, even those who belong to the PLO and the Fatah movement and defend the principle of the existence of a national authority. However, it is not guaranteed that weakening or overthrowing the authority serves the national interest in the absence of a national alternative to replace it.

There are three active political parties in the political scene: Israel, the Palestinian Authority, and the opposition forces - without ignoring other forces, including Arab and regional countries, that work in secret and without official addresses. Israel has well-known goals, and it is hostile to the Authority as well as its opponents, even if it coordinates tactically with some of them, because it considers every Palestinian an enemy to it, just as it views the West Bank as part of (the Land of Israel) and will not give it up to anyone. As previously mentioned, although it sees itself as a national achievement and gain and is supported by a large segment of the people, but what about the opposition parties?

The word or term “opposition” in the Palestinian case is ambiguous and ambiguous. If most of the opposition forces declare their hostility to Israel and stand against the authority, they do not agree on everything else, nor do they have any vision or strategy for the post-collapse period.

Under the heading of the opposition, the ropes are mixed with bombs, in which:

1- Activists and civil actors who oppose the authority because of its violations of freedom of opinion and expression, or the existence of corruption in it, or against some of its political positions, but they are not against the principle of the existence of a national authority, and among them are those who belong to the Fatah movement and the organization's factions.

2- Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, and they say that they are part of the Fatah movement, and the latter is the one that leads the authority!

3- Hamas and Islamic Jihad, with their hidden differences and disagreements. They are also committed to a truce with Israel in the Gaza Strip and binding on them even in the West Bank and the 48 areas.

4- The Islamic Liberation Party, which tweets alone and disagrees not only with the authorities, but with all other opposition parties.

5- Young men from the security services decided to rebel against the Dayton Doctrine, which deluded them that security coordination and suppression of activists and opponents of the authority achieve security and safety and bring the desired Palestinian state closer, but they discovered that what they are doing serves the occupying state more than it serves the Palestinian people.

6- Some families, clans and class of beneficiaries of the occupation who feel that the authority threatens their influence and interests.

7- And there are those who were formed by Israel to form the village associations again.

8- There are those who owe loyalty to Jordan and their loyalty to Jordan is stronger than their loyalty to Palestine.

9- And do not forget the criminals, thieves and bandits concerned with chaos, because it facilitates their criminal work.

10- In addition to spies and agents of Israel working in secret or under various names, we may find some of them in civil society institutions and within the authority itself.

If Israel is reducing the powers of the PA and its areas of influence and is trying to weaken it by various means and does not trust it despite all the political flexibility and security coordination provided by the PA leadership... Will it trust the opponents of the PA and this is their situation? Is it possible to grant them powers and the possibility of working that serve the national interest more than it granted the Liberation Organization and the national authority emanating from it?

There are those who compare, in the context of defending the national authority, between what was happening in Gaza before the Hamas coup and what is happening in the West Bank these days, and we believe that the comparison is relatively correct in one aspect, which is the weakening of the national authority. Israel is ready to leave the Strip, and Hamas was ready to take it. As for the West Bank, Israel will not allow any Palestinian national party to control the West Bank, because in its eyes, the West Bank is an essential part of their alleged state.

This does not mean sticking to power and defending it in its current situation, whether it is unjust or oppressed. Rather, we call for rational thinking for the sake of the national interest, away from the calculations of Arab and regional countries and those with foreign agendas, especially since the Palestinians’ experience with these countries and agendas throughout the decades of the history of the Palestinian cause was painful, and nothing will change it. Something about the slogans and ideologies raised by these parties, and we should also take advantage of what happened to the first uprisings in 1987 and the second in 2000, and how the absence of a vision and a unified national strategy led to the lack of practical political achievements.

On the other hand, the Palestinian leadership is required to work hard for the transition from the authority to the state, while we are aware of the legal and practical challenges and difficulties of this transition. All the Palestinian people, and in order for it to be so, it must be in the context of a national consensus, or the matter must be done through a popular referendum. We believe that the issue deserves discussion in the (reconciliation) meetings in Algeria, which, although we are not optimistic about achieving important breakthroughs, we hope that it will go beyond the frivolous dialogues that took place over the years in Cairo and other Arab and foreign capitals.

Canada imposes more sanctions on Iran for violating human rights

Montreal - (AFP) - Canada announced the imposition of more sanctions on Iran, on the grounds of human rights violations during the demonstrations taking place in the country.

The sanctions affect three Iranian entities and 17 individuals, including the prosecutor in the Iranian Revolutionary Court, Saeed Mortazavi, former Foreign Minister Muhammad Javad Zarif, senior officials in state media, and a former defense minister.

Canadian sanctions prohibit dealing with targeted persons and entities, freeze any assets they have in Canada, and prevent the 17 people from entering the country.

Foreign Minister Melanie Jolie said, "The Iranian regime's actions speak for themselves. The world has watched for years (the regime) as it implements an agenda of violence, fear and propaganda."

Since September 16, Iran has been witnessing protests sparked by the death of the young woman, Mahsa Amini, three days after she was arrested by the morality police for not adhering to the strict dress code.

Canada announced last week that it would permanently deny entry to more than ten thousand members of the "criminal" Iranian regime, including members of the Revolutionary Guards, which Ottawa accuses of committing "heinous" acts against the Iranian people.

In total, Canada imposed sanctions on 83 Iranians and 173 entities, in line with other countries such as the United States.

Thousands of civilians and security personnel in the three Sahel countries have been killed in the conflict, and more than two million people have been displaced from their homes.

There are many reasons for the kidnappings in Mali, some of which may be motivated by ideology sometimes, but the kidnapped are often released after paying a ransom.

Algeria's sponsorship of reconciliation is a historic opportunity to restore national unity

Written by: Sri Al Qudwa

In front of the facts of the Israeli aggression and the usurpation of Palestinian rights, it is necessary to ensure the success of the Algerian meetings and its call to achieve Palestinian national unity and to take advantage of this important historical opportunity to end the division and face the current challenges. We must work to put an end to this division and those thorny relations between the Palestinian factions, as some are trying to take advantage of the existing contradictions Which has become outside the scope of any description and does not serve the higher interests of the Palestinian people and has become a threat to the Palestinian future as a whole. Therefore, work must be done to arrange the internal Palestinian conditions and put an end to attempts to sow discord and division within the Palestinian society under various masks with the aim of spreading frustration and despair to liquidate the Palestinian cause and prevent the achievement of the goals and aspirations of the Palestinian people. In the embodiment of freedom and national independence and self-determination.

Immediate action must be taken in order to implement the decisions of the National and Central Councils, to activate the departments and institutions of the Palestine Liberation Organization and rebuild its institutions to serve the establishment of the Palestinian state and strengthen its position as the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people and achieve more political, legal, moral and material gains in all its forms to confront the schemes and ambitions that the existing authority seeks to achieve. By occupation through the colonial settlement policy in all occupied Palestinian lands, especially in East Jerusalem, preventing the displacement of its people, protecting Islamic and Christian holy sites, foremost of which is the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron, and strengthening the unity of our people, which was manifested in its best form in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip and within the Green Line and the diaspora around Jerusalem, the capital of the state Palestinian.

Urgent action and action must be taken at all Arab, regional and international levels, including international organizations, the United Nations, the Security Council and the Human Rights Council, and mobilizing the support and assistance of the international community to confront the consequences of the continuous aggression and put an end to it, and the continuation of diplomatic action in order to implement the resolutions of international legitimacy related to the Palestinian cause, especially the resolution Security Council No. 2334, and continue to work towards obtaining full membership in the United Nations and affirm support for the peace option, especially the two-state solution, in light of what can be achieved internationally.

The Israeli occupation continues its plans to displace citizens in occupied Jerusalem through the policy of demolition and settlement expansion, and commits brutal crimes in light of the displacement of tens of thousands of citizens from their homes as a result of their destruction, in addition to the destruction of the entire infrastructure in the Gaza Strip, including health, educational, social and economic institutions, and the continuation of its continuous aggression against neighborhoods Jerusalem and the lands of the occupied West Bank, in implementation of the policy of colonial settlement, plundering of lands, destruction of farms and homes of citizens, and granting it protection and cover for settlers who carry out orgies in all neighborhoods of the city and planting settlement outposts in all neighborhoods with the aim of emptying the city and displacing citizens in light of a clear disregard for all international laws and legislation that consider Jerusalem occupied lands and all The crimes that are taking place are considered a flagrant violation of international laws and laws.

In light of the conspiracies taking place and the imam of this Israeli extremism and international denial, the Palestinian people have no choice but to uphold their rights, legendary steadfastness, strengthen the bonds of trust, adhere to national constants, and defend the Palestinian lands. Resistance and defense of Palestinian rights in order for Jerusalem to remain the capital of the Palestinian state and to preserve the struggle constants and the path of the Palestinian national struggle.

Saad calls on the "Norway Workers" to put pressure on the management of the "Oil Fund" to stop its dealings with the settlements

Oslo - "Jerusalem" dot com - The Secretary General of the Federation of Palestinian Trade Unions, Shaher Saad, called today, Tuesday, for the participants in the Norway Labor Confederation (LO) conference, to put pressure on the management of the government pension fund in Norway (the oil fund) to stop its dealings with Israeli settlements and withdraw of his investments.

Saad said in Palestine's speech to the conference, in the presence and participation of the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Norway, Marie Antoinette Seiden, that "the Norwegian Oil Fund is one of the most prominent dealers with Israeli settlements until its history, and this is something that needs to be corrected, by pressuring its management to reverse what it went to in continuing Dealing with those colonies, and withdrawing their investments from them.

Saad conveyed to the participants in the conference the greetings of the Palestinian working class, praising the great support enjoyed by Palestinian workers from the Norwegian Trade Union historically, led by the late Hans Christian, and the union's tremendous contributions in supporting the just Palestinian national struggle, especially its important initiative "Do not buy from the occupation." And his clear commitment to support the legitimate rights of the Palestinian Arab people, and his firm stand against the companies whose cooperation and commercial dealings with the Israeli colonies established over the occupied Palestinian Arab lands in 1967 were proven.

Saad said: "Palestine is still bleeding daily because of the continuation of the Israeli occupation, and the deprivation of our people from enjoying their right to self-determination and establishing their independent state like the rest of the peoples of the earth, in a miserable attempt by the Israeli occupation state to erase our people from existence, to monopolize their land and property, and to continue building colonies and demolishing More indigenous homes and displacement, with Jewish immigrants replacing them.

He pointed to the crimes committed by the Israeli occupation army against the workers, as it carries out daily clamoring military pursuits of them, during which live ammunition, police dogs and drones are used, and ends with fatal injuries to many of them, under the pretext that they cross the border without obtaining the necessary entry permits to Israel. And he does the same thing against the workers of the Gaza Strip, which has been besieged for more than 15 years, and the Palestinian fishermen were not spared from the bullets of the occupation army, so three of them were killed on March 7, 2021, during their fishing trip in the Khan Yunis sea, south of the Gaza Strip.

He added, "Our workers also suffer the scourge of daily and humiliating inspections at the Israeli military checkpoints built inside the occupied Palestinian Arab territories in 1967, and the brutal repression of Muslim and Christian worshipers in the city of Jerusalem."

He continued, addressing the participants in the conference: "You have witnessed, as the whole world has seen, how the soldiers of the Israeli occupation army killed the Palestinian journalist, Sherine Abu Aqleh, who was wearing the usual uniform for journalists and was equipped with all the signs and signals of the international press, including the jacket and helmet, which did not constitute an offense." Not only a journalist or a Palestinian citizen, but it constituted an assault on freedom of the press and freedom of opinion around the world.”

Saad explained that this situation, which is characterized by continuous escalation, is the result of the absence of a political horizon for the peace process, and as a result of the indolence of the major powers in sponsoring and paying attention to that process and pushing it forward, calling on the conference to exercise whatever influence and pressure it can, to put an end to the ongoing turmoil in Palestine, and push the two-state solution towards Move forward, and empower our people with their rights that have been recognized by international legitimacy since 1967 until now.

He said, "The world today, which deliberately forgets the suffering of the Palestinian people, is required to use a single ruler to measure the applicability of the rules of international law or not in all similar cases.

The conference demanded the recommendation to fully support the legitimate rights of our people, condemn the continuation of the Israeli occupation of our country, boycott and withdraw investments from Israeli settlements, and support the two-state solution.

He added that the candidates running for the second round of the legislative elections are distributed between 34 women and 228 men, noting that 170 of them are employees from the public and private sectors, 50 are self-employed and businessmen, 5 are students, and 17 are retirees.

The first round of this election took place on December 17, in which only 23 candidates won a parliamentary seat, 20 of them in constituencies at home and 3 in constituencies abroad.

The first round of this election ended with a participation rate of 11.22 percent, according to what the head of the Independent High Authority for Elections in Tunisia announced, two days after the polls closed.

The majority of Tunisian parties and organizations unanimously agreed that this percentage is "weak" and reflects the Tunisian people's reluctance to hold elections, while voices were heard calling for the cancellation of the second round of legislative elections, and for going to a comprehensive national dialogue to get out of the current political crisis.

The Tunisian president rejects such calls, and he responded to them on the nineteenth of this month by accusing the opposition of fabricating crises, as he said..."This time, you did not find anything to focus on except for the participation rate in this first session to question the representation of the next Assembly of Representatives of the People, in While the participation rate is not only measured in the first round, but in the two rounds.”

US Treasury: Ending the war in Ukraine is the best way to solve the problems of the global economy

Nusa Dua (Indonesia) - (AFP) - US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said Monday that ending the war in Ukraine is the best way to address the problems of the global economy , in a clear message to Russia ahead of the G20 summit in Indonesia.

"Ending the war waged by Russia is a moral imperative and simply the best thing to do for the global economy," Yellen told reporters on the sidelines of a meeting with her French counterpart, Bruno Le Maire.

And the Russian invasion of Ukraine is not officially on the agenda of the summit, which includes 20 major economies.

Moscow called on the G20 to focus on economic and financial issues rather than political and security issues. But the war launched by Russian President Vladimir Putin nine months ago had profound economic repercussions, manifested in the rise in energy and food prices.

Indonesia, the host country, calls for peace negotiations and refuses to condemn Moscow directly.

Bruno Le Maire, for his part, stressed the need for action to mitigate the economic impacts of the conflict.

"I think the first issue on the table is ways to lower energy prices and how to get rid of inflation," said the French economy minister.

The Michelin Guide downgrades celebrity chef Guy Savoy's restaurant from 3 stars to 2 stars

(AFP) - The Michelin Guide announced Monday a surprising decision to downgrade Guy Savoie's restaurant, one of the world's most famous chefs, from three stars to two.
Since 2002, the 69-year-old Savoy has been awarded a three-star rating, the highest rating given by the guide, for his restaurant located in the "La Money de Paris" building in Paris, overlooking the Seine River.
The Savoie restaurant has a second branch at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
In November, the French chef's restaurant topped the "La List" list of the best restaurants in the world, for the sixth time.
In addition, the guide, in its latest version, expected to be announced next Monday, downgraded the rating of Chef Christopher Cotanso's restaurant in La Rochelle.
"These two restaurants are very special, so the decision to downgrade them was carefully studied before it was made, in addition to taking into account the visits made by specialists from the guide to the two restaurants throughout the year," Michelin guide director Gwendal Pollenec told AFP.
The reasons behind the decisions will not be publicly disclosed, but will only be communicated to the chefs involved.
"In such decisions, we do not only rely on the opinions of French specialists, but we also take into account what others say from other countries," Poulenc added.
Reducing the rating of restaurants usually raises widespread controversy, especially after the suicide of Bernard Loiseau, a close friend of Savoie, 20 years ago after his restaurant lost one star in the rating.
In its highly anticipated release Monday, the Michelin Guide downgraded some twenty French restaurants from two stars to one.
Due to the difficulties faced by restaurants due to the COVID-19 pandemic, since 2019 the Michelin Guide has not downgraded any restaurant.
However, the challenges continued for restaurants, which are now facing a shortage of employees and an increase in prices.
However, the Michelin Guide confirmed that downgrading ratings is necessary. "Yes, there are challenges, but everyone faces them," Polinek said.

Hadith Al-Quds:: Data, condemnations and theoretical rejection have no value

Prime Minister Dr. Muhammad Shtayyeh asserts that the occupation has no right to attack institutions and civil society organizations that operate within the Palestinian law. These statements came during a visit to the "Adameer" institution for the care of prisoners and human rights, which was closed by the occupation forces. He was accompanied on this visit by ambassadors and consuls of more than 16 countries and members of international human rights organizations working in our country. Addameer is one of several other institutions closed down by the occupation. The representative of the European Union, Sven Kun Burgsdorff, denounced this Israeli decision and the fierce attack launched by the Israeli forces, during which they seized property and files of these institutions and their activities.

This is a positive European position in terms of condemnation and rejection, but it is not sufficient and does not deter the occupation or stop these practices that are contrary to all laws and human rights.

On the other hand, the League of Arab States held a meeting at the level of foreign ministers, in which it affirmed support for Palestine's approach to obtain full membership in the United Nations and to hold another conference at the beginning of next year to support Jerusalem and reject the occupation's measures and Judaization efforts in Jerusalem and the rest of the West Bank. In this context, it should be mentioned that the Egyptian delegation left the opening session in protest against the Libyan representative presiding over this session.

The issuance of these statements and positions was accompanied, and almost at the same time, by an Israeli approval of a plan to expand a settlement on various lands in Jerusalem, especially in the lands of Shuafat, Beit Hanina and Lifta. They called it the "Biden plan," and it was agreed upon during the former US president's visit to Israel.

All statements, whether international or Arab, remain without any actual results, and real field measures must be taken to stop the aggressions of the occupation, which do not stop except in the logic of force, and statements and words died years ago..!!

The US Treasury Secretary admits mistakes in her previous assessments of inflation

Washington - (dpa) - US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen acknowledged the existence of errors in her previous assessments of the high inflation that the United States is currently witnessing.

"I think I was wrong then about the path inflation will take," Yellen told CNN on Tuesday, adding that she underestimated shocks to the economy from factors such as high energy prices and problems in the international supply chain.

And in May last year, Yellen said she did not expect inflation to become a problem. However, consumer prices rose in April by 8.3% compared to the same month last year.

And in a meeting with Yellen and Federal Reserve (Central Bank) Chairman Jerome Powell on Tuesday, US President Joe Biden stressed that fighting inflation is his top priority.

Meanwhile, Biden insisted he would continue to respect the independence of the Federal Reserve. Powell, for whom tackling high inflation in the United States is a priority, tried to use tighter monetary policy to combat high inflation.

Powell's re-election was confirmed by a large majority in the Senate three weeks ago, after Biden nominated him for another four-year term as Federal Reserve chairman in November.

Powell has been leading the central bank of the world's largest economy since February 2018, when then-President Donald Trump nominated him for the position. Prior to that, Powell had been a member of the central bank's board since 2012.

UEFA Champions League: Simeone responds to Guardiola, "We are not stupid"

Madrid (AFP) - Argentine coach Diego Simeone responded to his Spanish counterpart, Pep Guardiola, after a tense night at the "Wanda Metropolitano" stadium on Wednesday, as the quarrel between Atletico Madrid players and its guest Manchester City in the stadium and the tunnel leading to the dressing rooms overshadowed the club's qualification. English to the semi-finals of the European Champions League.
Simeone was asked after the match if he felt that Guardiola disrespected him during the quarter-final confrontation that ended with City qualifying after winning 1-0 at home before the two teams drew 0-0 in Madrid.
The Argentinian said, "Sometimes, people who know the use of vocabulary and who are intelligent, can praise you scornfully. But we who do not know the use of vocabulary well, are not stupid either."

Guadiola said after the first match in Manchester last week, "Prehistory, today and after a hundred thousand years, the attack against (the lineup) 5-5 - (zero) is very difficult," in criticism of Simeone's excessive defensive style.
"He can play the way he wants, all I said is that it is very difficult to play against them," Guardiola insisted, adding, "I have always respected this institution and this team, and I wouldn't dare attack this team. When a team knows how to defend unlike Any other team in the world, it's difficult."

None of the coaches commented on the players' behavior during the match and in the tunnel leading to the dressing rooms.
"I didn't see what happened," the Argentine said. "I was on the pitch clapping and cheering the fans. By the time I entered, there was no one there."
The police entered the tunnel after the final whistle, as the quarrels continued between the players, as video footage showed Montenegrin Stefan Savic, the Atletico player, shouting at Jack Grealish, the City winger, while the players were forced to prevent the Croatian, Shemy Versalico, from confronting Kyle Walker. Versalico seemed to spit in the tunnel in Walker's direction. The European Football Association (UEFA) has not yet announced whether it will open an investigation into the incidents.
The Brazilian Felipe was sent off in stoppage time after an intervention on Phil Foden, knowing that the latter was wearing a bandage on his head due to a previous intervention from the same player, which led to the players of the two teams entering into a fight in the final minutes of the match.
Atletico felt the City players were wasting time.

Spanish-French defender Aymeric Laporte replied, "I don't know if we were wasting time or if they got themselves into stupid clashes. We know who they are and what they did previously."
While Atletico captain Koke considered, "We receive a lot of criticism because of these things. So let's see what people think today. You saw what happened, so let's see your opinions."
City will meet in the semi-finals with another side from Madrid, this time Real, the record holder in the number of championship titles (13), while Liverpool will meet Villarreal in a purely English-Spanish match in the Golden Square.

We will shed light on the procedures that can be expected from the Public Prosecutor of the Court in response to the request submitted by the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs requesting the Public Prosecutor to start an investigation related to the murder of martyr Sherine Abu Aqleh.

Before starting to list what can be expected from the Public Prosecutor, we must refer to some legal provisions related to the court’s jurisdiction and how to act in such a situation, which are contained in the Court’s Statute and are beneficial to the Public Prosecutor and the Court, and these can be summarized as follows:

First: Perhaps the most important thing to start with is pointing out that Public Prosecutor Karim Khan assumed his job since the summer of last year 2021, as a public prosecutor of the Criminal Court, that is, since July 2021, but during that year he did not take any action in the cases submitted to the court. from the State of Palestine several years ago, rather ignoring it as if it did not exist, despite the fact that the former Public Prosecutor of the Court, Fatou Bensouda, had advanced quite a bit in those cases after obtaining the green light from the pre-trial circuit, as well as We referred to it above. There is no doubt that all of this can be considered an indication from which we can deduce what will be the position of Attorney General Karim Khan regarding the new request recently submitted by the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Second: The preamble and first article of the Court’s statute provide for the following important legal rules:

1) The jurisdiction of the court is considered complementary to the jurisdiction of national courts.

2) The Court considers only the most serious crimes that are of international concern. (Articles 1 and 5 of the Basic Law)

3) The court only considers crimes attributed to natural persons and not to states or national, regional and international organizations. (Article 1 and Article 25 of the Statute of the Court)

4) The Court may decide that a case is inadmissible where a State is investigating or prosecuting the case, unless that State is genuinely unwilling or unable to undertake the investigation or prosecution. (paragraph 1 of Article 17)

5) The statute of the court stipulates that the trial does not take place without the presence of the accused in person before the court, and this may encourage Israel not to hand over the accused or the accused to the court, so that the trial does not take place. (Article 63 of the Basic Law).

Therefore, Israel can start a formal investigation claiming that it was late in the investigation until it is sure of the accuracy and validity of the facts and events, thus providing the public prosecutor with an argument and a reason to dismiss the case and refer the matter to Israel to start investigation work, even though the Israeli public prosecutor had officially announced Unwillingness to start an investigation, however, he had announced that he is refraining from the investigation at the present time, in implementation of a decision issued by the Israeli Supreme Court, as a way out to postpone the investigation, a position that is considered a circumvention of the provisions of the Statute of the Criminal Court, and an indication of cunning and deception.

Likewise, the public prosecutor can find other justifications, among those mentioned above, to refuse to open an investigation into the crime, for example, to consider that the killing of one citizen is not considered among the most serious crimes and the most threatening to international peace and security, according to the provisions of Articles 1 and 5 of the law. basic, mentioned above.

The public prosecutor can also claim that any case submitted to the court must include the name of the accused person, his rank, and the names of the official or officials who ordered him to commit the crime or incited him and helped him to commit it. Therefore, he can return the case to the Palestinian Authority, asking it to mention the aforementioned parties, claiming That he cannot investigate such a crime and that the State of Israel is competent to do so, bearing in mind that the State of Palestine, i.e. the state in whose territory the crime occurred, is primarily competent to conduct the investigation of this crime, but the State of Palestine can claim that its territory in which it occurred The acts constituting the crime, it is an occupied territory, and it is unable to conduct the investigation, so it requests that it be conducted by the Public Prosecutor or his representative, or the formation of an international committee to conduct it.

It should be noted here that the State of Palestine has the right to raise its inability to conduct a sound and reasonable investigation that would enable it to know the soldier who took it to know the soldier who fired the bullet that killed the martyr Sherine Abu Aqleh, because it has no control over the situation, and because Israel is an occupying country. The armed force controls the occupied territory and many elements of sovereignty in the territory, which makes the Palestinian Authority and the public prosecutor in Palestine unable to conduct an investigation with any Israeli soldier or employee, so it submits the aforementioned request to the court so that the public prosecutor takes the necessary measures for the investigation In the subject.

Conclusion:

For all the reasons mentioned above, I highly doubt that Attorney General Karim Khan will fulfill the Palestinian request. Rather, it is very likely that he will find one or more arguments to justify his refusal to answer the Palestinian request, and that he will transfer the request to Israel, asking it to conduct the investigation within a specified period ( two or three months, for example).

In addition, there is a possibility that the Palestinian Authority’s request would be rejected, claiming that the killing did not rise to its consideration as “one of the most serious crimes of international concern” as stipulated in Articles 1 and 5 of the Statute of the Court, which is the most likely possibility in my opinion, because of what is known The public prosecutor is biased in favor of some colonial countries, meaning that he is expected to act in accordance with the political pressure exerted on him by some major countries, such as the United States, or from some lobbies with international influence, and this is considered a great possibility.

Occupation and targeting the liberated prisoners
