Saad calls on the "Norway Workers" to put pressure on the management of the "Oil Fund" to stop its dealings with the settlements

Oslo - "Jerusalem" dot com - The Secretary General of the Federation of Palestinian Trade Unions, Shaher Saad, called today, Tuesday, for the participants in the Norway Labor Confederation (LO) conference, to put pressure on the management of the government pension fund in Norway (the oil fund) to stop its dealings with Israeli settlements and withdraw of his investments.

Saad said in Palestine's speech to the conference, in the presence and participation of the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Norway, Marie Antoinette Seiden, that "the Norwegian Oil Fund is one of the most prominent dealers with Israeli settlements until its history, and this is something that needs to be corrected, by pressuring its management to reverse what it went to in continuing Dealing with those colonies, and withdrawing their investments from them.

Saad conveyed to the participants in the conference the greetings of the Palestinian working class, praising the great support enjoyed by Palestinian workers from the Norwegian Trade Union historically, led by the late Hans Christian, and the union's tremendous contributions in supporting the just Palestinian national struggle, especially its important initiative "Do not buy from the occupation." And his clear commitment to support the legitimate rights of the Palestinian Arab people, and his firm stand against the companies whose cooperation and commercial dealings with the Israeli colonies established over the occupied Palestinian Arab lands in 1967 were proven.

Saad said: "Palestine is still bleeding daily because of the continuation of the Israeli occupation, and the deprivation of our people from enjoying their right to self-determination and establishing their independent state like the rest of the peoples of the earth, in a miserable attempt by the Israeli occupation state to erase our people from existence, to monopolize their land and property, and to continue building colonies and demolishing More indigenous homes and displacement, with Jewish immigrants replacing them.

He pointed to the crimes committed by the Israeli occupation army against the workers, as it carries out daily clamoring military pursuits of them, during which live ammunition, police dogs and drones are used, and ends with fatal injuries to many of them, under the pretext that they cross the border without obtaining the necessary entry permits to Israel. And he does the same thing against the workers of the Gaza Strip, which has been besieged for more than 15 years, and the Palestinian fishermen were not spared from the bullets of the occupation army, so three of them were killed on March 7, 2021, during their fishing trip in the Khan Yunis sea, south of the Gaza Strip.

He added, "Our workers also suffer the scourge of daily and humiliating inspections at the Israeli military checkpoints built inside the occupied Palestinian Arab territories in 1967, and the brutal repression of Muslim and Christian worshipers in the city of Jerusalem."

He continued, addressing the participants in the conference: "You have witnessed, as the whole world has seen, how the soldiers of the Israeli occupation army killed the Palestinian journalist, Sherine Abu Aqleh, who was wearing the usual uniform for journalists and was equipped with all the signs and signals of the international press, including the jacket and helmet, which did not constitute an offense." Not only a journalist or a Palestinian citizen, but it constituted an assault on freedom of the press and freedom of opinion around the world.”

Saad explained that this situation, which is characterized by continuous escalation, is the result of the absence of a political horizon for the peace process, and as a result of the indolence of the major powers in sponsoring and paying attention to that process and pushing it forward, calling on the conference to exercise whatever influence and pressure it can, to put an end to the ongoing turmoil in Palestine, and push the two-state solution towards Move forward, and empower our people with their rights that have been recognized by international legitimacy since 1967 until now.

He said, "The world today, which deliberately forgets the suffering of the Palestinian people, is required to use a single ruler to measure the applicability of the rules of international law or not in all similar cases.

The conference demanded the recommendation to fully support the legitimate rights of our people, condemn the continuation of the Israeli occupation of our country, boycott and withdraw investments from Israeli settlements, and support the two-state solution.
