Ramallah - “Jerusalem” dot com - The Ministry of National Economy said today, Monday, that the number of companies (with limited liability and owned by one person) registered since the new Companies Law entered into force last April (2022), has reached 29 companies with a capital of 865 thousand Jordanian dinars.

The Director General of Companies Registration at the Ministry, Liana Al-Atrash, stated, in a statement, that the new companies law allows the registration of one-person companies without the need for another partner, so that they are a limited liability company or a limited private shareholding.

Al-Atrash emphasized that this type of company (with limited liability) serves the owners of small and entrepreneurial projects and home businesses and does not require a minimum amount of capital, which facilitates them to carry out their economic activities and contributes to the process of transformation in the Palestinian market from the unregulated sector to the organized one.

According to the ministry, the companies' fields of work were concentrated in the sectors of technological industries and consulting services, in addition to consumer industries.

It is noteworthy that Decree Law No. (42) regarding companies was published in the Official Gazette in late December 2021 and entered into force in early April.

Europe calls on the Group of Seven to coordinate the ban on Russian oil insurance

Brussels - (dpa) - Informed sources said that the European Union is seeking to coordinate with the Group of Seven major industrialized countries to impose a ban on providing the insurance services required to ship Russian crude oil to anywhere in the world, in a move aimed at limiting Russian oil exports and limiting Moscow's financial flows and its ability to finance its war against Ukraine.

Bloomberg news agency quoted the sources as saying that the Commission, the executive arm of the European Union, is in talks with Britain as part of efforts to ban Russian oil exports.

It is expected that the governments of the European Union will approve the sixth package of sanctions against Russia because of the invasion of Ukraine. This package will include imposing a ban on financing and mediation services, and technical and financial assistance to the Russian oil sector, which will be implemented six months after the approval of the sanctions package.

Bloomberg reported that the application of this ban on insurance services could dramatically reduce Moscow's ability to finance President Putin's war in Ukraine. About 95% of oil tankers in the world obtain insurance services through an insurance organization called "International Group of P&I Clubs" based in London and subject to European laws.

Without access to insurance services, Russian oil tankers will have to find alternatives to cover the risks arising from their activities, such as oil spills or strandings during voyages, which lead to billions of dollars in compensation claims.

The 27 European Union nations agreed yesterday to ban two-thirds of Russian oil imports and to provide up to 9 billion euros ($9.7 billion) in financial aid to Ukraine, European Council President Charles Michel announced on Twitter.

Oil imports by sea will be halted by the end of the year, diplomatic sources confirmed to the dpa news agency. These imports make up two-thirds of all oil imports from Russia into the European Union.

Germany and Poland said they would gradually reduce pipeline oil imports voluntarily, which means Russian oil imports could drop by up to 90%, according to an EU official.

Hungary has rejected a full oil embargo, which was first proposed nearly four weeks ago, and has also been criticized by other landlocked countries in central Europe for its heavy reliance on pipeline oil imports from Russia.

More than 15 bodies of illegal immigrants were recovered off the coast of Tunisia

TUNIS - (Xinhua) - The official Tunisian News Agency announced Thursday evening that more than 15 bodies of illegal immigrants have been recovered off the coast of Mahdia Governorate, east of Tunis.

The agency said, quoting a source from the Naval Guard in the city of Mahdia, which it did not mention by name, that the bodies were recovered off the coasts of the cities of Chebba, Salata and Mahdia, after they were thrown into the sea as a result of a change in the direction of the wind that helped them approach the coast.

He explained that the recovered bodies are all decomposed, yet initial inspections indicate that they belong to illegal immigrants of multiple nationalities, including Africans from sub-Saharan countries.

The announcement of the recovery of these bodies comes as the Tunisian authorities continue intensive searches in various regions of the country, including Zarzis and Shaba, for illegal immigrants whose boat sank at sea during an attempt to sneak towards the Italian coast.

The corpses of illegal immigrants have been repeatedly recovered in Tunisia during the past few days, with the escalation of attempts to illegally emigrate from the Tunisian coast, which extends 1,300 km, towards the Italian coast, with the participation of Tunisians and other African nationalities.

A clinical trial of an intranasal Covid vaccine for AstraZeneca/Oxford failed

London - (AFP) - A preliminary clinical trial of a nasally administered COVID-19 vaccine, conducted by the University of Oxford in collaboration with the British laboratory AstraZeneca, failed, according to a statement issued on Tuesday.
Oxford estimates that this study is the first to be published on a nasal spray adenoviral vaccine.

The researchers did not notice an antibody response in the nasal mucosa except in a “minority of the participants,” according to the University of Oxford.

The statement added that the "systematic" immune response to intranasal vaccination was also weaker compared to intramuscular vaccination.

"The nasal spray did not work as well as we had hoped," said Sandy Douglas, a university professor involved in the trial.

She pointed out that a study in China had achieved good results using a more complex spray that sent the vaccine deeper into the lungs, and therefore it was considered that a large part of the vaccine tested by the British University might have ended up in the digestive system.

The study used the adenovirus vector used in the vaccine Oxford developed with AstraZeneca, one of the first coronavirus vaccines that came to market at the height of the pandemic.

"Intranasal and airway administration of vaccines is one of the most promising ways to achieve immunity," said Adam Ritchie, one of the heads of the Vaccine Programs at Oxford University. .

He pointed out that one of its advantages is also "avoiding the use of the needle." "Many parents know that nasal sprays are used in influenza vaccines given to schoolchildren in some countries, including the UK," he said.

The experiment included thirty people who had not been vaccinated before.

The right leads an unprecedented Israeli consensus in its hostility to the Palestinians

Written by: Suleiman Abu Irshaid

In vain, Naftali Bennett is trying to save his crumbling government, his crumbling party, and his crumbling popularity as prime minister, by escalating the aggressive policies of strengthening settlements and unleashing the hands of settlers and the occupation army and police forces, against the Palestinians in the West Bank, the interior, and Jerusalem, which was manifested in its ugliest form in the provocative so-called “flag march” that It revealed the consensus and unity of an Israeli state that brought together the left, the right, the army and the settlers in everything related to the perpetuation of the occupation and the consolidation of the apartheid regime.

He tries in vain, because his insistence on passing the "flag march" along its original path from the Damascus Gate and penetrating the Old City, and what that required in mobilizing thousands of heavily armed police and Israeli soldiers to protect the participating settlers, did not even give him the honor of inviting the "Merkaz Harav" celebration, which constitutes the culmination of what Known as "Quds Day", while Netanyahu was invited to it along with the President of the State of Israel, Isaac Herzog, not to mention that the result of the poll conducted by the journalist, Amit Segel, the day after the event, confirmed the existence of a majority that believes that his government is based on "supporters of terrorism".

On the other hand, the facts prove that the Bennett-Lapid government is one of the worst Israeli governments and the most extreme with regard to the Palestinian file and the Palestinians in general, including the Palestinians at home. Observers point out that Bennett as a person is the only right-wing prime minister who did not lean towards the center, like Sharon in (disengagement from Gaza) and Olmert in the (Clinton understandings) and Netanyahu in the (Bar-Ilan speech), but he remained on his positions, which became more extreme.

It also brought, perhaps for the first time in the history of Israeli politics, a government supported by the "left" and led by the right, and which has broad and strong opposition from the right as well, in the sense that it made the forces of the right apply to Israeli politics and control its steps and rhythm without any significant opposition, even if that was achieved. Due to the collapse of the left camp and the collapse of its program.

This situation created a strange homogeneity of its kind within Israeli society and between its institutions, and a unified and coherent stance towards the Palestinian issue, not only between the political “right” and “left”, but also between the various compounds of bodies, institutions and units, with which the principle of separation of powers and the executive arms of the institution has vanished. Where the function of the Supreme Court, for example, has become to give legal cover to the decisions of the government, the Knesset and the occupation army, while the judges of the courts of various degrees and in many cases have become fully consistent with the Public Prosecution and even more stringent than them in cases related to the Palestinians, and the police have become more hostile to the Palestinian Arabs than The extremist settlers themselves, so the Palestinians became angry in all cases, like those seeking refuge from ashes with fire.

This is not evidenced by the statements of what is known as the commander of the Shomron Brigade in the Israeli army, Roi Tasweegh, who was recently provoked when a journalist asked him with disapproval that the army and the settlers work together, and he replied that the army and the settlers are one. The place where Abraham received God's promise of the Promised Land, he said.

Or what General Reserve Gershon HaCohen said on Channel 13, the day after what is known as the Israeli “Jerusalem Day”, in which he stated that Al-Buraq Wall, known as the “Wailing Wall”, is only an alternative used by the Jews since the time of Adrianus and during the two thousand years during which they were prevented from climbing to the “Wailing Wall”. the Temple Mount” (the Temple Mount), while the correct place is “the Temple Mount” and there is no substitute for it.

He added, "The question is what do we want, and if we want to be like Denmark, we mean an additional day of calm ... or is what drives us the foundations of the Zionist project that came to save Israel and is more than a prosperous country? We do not want that boring and stinky Scandinavia, but something more." Prosperity, something divine, something biblical, as Jabotinsky wrote, we want to save its source and engine, the “Temple Mount” (the Temple Mount), and without raising the Israeli flag over the “Temple Mount,” our sovereignty over the country cannot be achieved. Al-Bakri, who is in Makkah Al-Mukarramah as head of the Palestinian pilgrimage delegations, said that the occupation continues the systematic policy of Judaization, continues the siege of Al-Aqsa, and prevents worshipers from coming to it freely and safely, and strives to establish the Jewish character in the mosque by allowing the settlers who storm it under the protection of the occupation forces to practice their Talmudic rituals. Inside its courtyards for the first time since its occupation in 1967.

The report prepared by the ministry's public relations revealed that the Israeli occupation authorities, as usual, arrested and deported a number of Al-Aqsa guards and guards, and a number of Jerusalemite activists, in a new attempt to empty the Temple Mount, and also provided protection for the settlers' squadrons to storm Al-Aqsa Mosque. Hana Sadiq is an Iraqi designer who weaves Arabic love poetry with her contemporary designs

Amman - (AFP) - Arabic calligraphy dominates Hana Sadiq's embroidered designs, either through verses of love poems or simply colorful letters scattered in bright colors, adding a modern oriental touch that highlights the attractiveness of Arab women.

And in her studio inside her home in central Amman, the Iraqi-born fashion designer, who has presented shows for her fashion in about 37 countries, sits amidst a huge amount of traditional Arab costumes and ancient silver ornaments that show her adherence to the culture and traditions of her homeland.

Arabic calligraphy stands out in her designs, from the "Kufic" or "Diwani" or "Raqqa" or "Thuluth" fonts.

Her costumes are also adorned with verses from the love poems of the most famous Arab poets, Kenzar Qabbani, Mahmoud Darwish, Badr Shaker al-Sayyab, Muzaffar al-Nawab, and Fadwa Touqan.
Hana (72 years old) holds a degree in French literature from the University of Baghdad and studied plastic art there, textile design and painting on silk and porcelain in Paris, and the introduction of Arabic crafts to modern fashion 25 years ago.

"The Arabic calligraphy is the most beautiful," Hana told AFP.

The long-haired septuagenarian, who wore ornaments around her neck and rings bearing precious stones, explains that she "used it in about thirty ways." And she adds, "Every once in a while I turn to a specific type of writing on the clothes that I design, once by printing, once by embroidery, and once by beads."

She adds that she wanted to celebrate the writing that was born in the late fourth millennium BC in her country, Iraq, or what was previously known as Mesopotamia, without which "all these civilizations would not have existed."
During her life, Hana designed many outfits for celebrities, including Queens Rania and Nour, Queen Sofia of Spain, actresses such as Claudia Cardinale, Arab princesses and Gulf sheikhs.
On her extensive travels throughout the Arab world, she has about a ton of ancient silver ornaments, about five thousand pieces of textile, traditional Arab costumes and caftans that embody the hidden charm of Arab women. It is a combination of bright and amazing colours.
Details and letters are scattered in the fashion of Hana, who has loved this art since she was ten years old when she used to frequent the shop of her grandfather, the Baghdadi textile merchant, who used to speak with the merchants in Turkish, Persian and Hindi.

She was also affected by the beauty of her grandmother's clothes, "when she wore the Hashemite dress and walked among the women with elegance, as if she were a peacock."
The Hashemite dress is an Iraqi folk dress made of very thin and transparent fabric with wide sleeves and edges. It is decorated with beautiful floral motifs in gold or silver on a black base. It was popular with Iraqi women in the fifties and sixties of the last century, especially in central and southern Iraq.
Hanaa, who has lived between Paris and Amman since 1982, added, "I noticed that the Arab man likes his wife to wear earrings, put something on her head, and put necklaces, anklets, belts, bracelets, and rings that look beautiful and give her femininity."
"It is true that Arab fashion covers a woman's body, but it has a high femininity," she added.

Hanaa, who wrote in three languages, Arabic, English and French, a book entitled "Arab Fashion and Jewelry: A Legacy without Borders" that deals with Arab fashion from Yemen to the Maghreb, believes that "Western clothes do not fit the body of Arab women."
"Unfortunately, this is the result of globalization that came to us in the twentieth century, and we imitated the West in all fields, in architecture, furniture, clothing and food," she added.
And she concluded by saying, "What I care about in all my work is that the woman remains a female and that the man is attracted to her as a female, in the sense that she does not pass in front of him without paying attention to her and seeing that she is beautiful."

Priority to stop the collapse

Written by: Nihad Abu Ghosh

During the long and continuous years of division, many local, national and Arab initiatives were put forward aimed at ending the division, restoring unity and rearranging the Palestinian internal house. Arab and Palestinian mediators, political forces and factions, civil society institutions, independent personalities, and bodies with a legal status such as prisoners’ bodies have participated in proposing these initiatives, in addition to the mass movements that were formed for this purpose, or whose most important mission was to work to end the division.

Although the goal of ending the division occupied the forefront in most of these initiatives, and it deserves it, because it is the key to solving and dismantling many political and living problems and dilemmas, and because it is the gateway that enables rebuilding the Palestinian political system, reforming and activating institutions leading to adopting a unified national strategy to end the occupation. , and progress on the road to conquest of freedom and national independence.

However, our problems are no longer confined to the political and geographical division, as we are now living in a stage of decline unprecedented in decades, and the danger is now threatening the legitimacy that was sanctified by struggle and sacrifices and the tens of thousands of martyrs, wounded and prisoners, and warns of the fragmentation of the inclusive national identity that we raised from the "ashes of the Nakba", Then dividing the “people” into several population groups, each with its own living concerns that Israel addresses in isolation from the unified national concern, leading to the absence of civil peace and personal security and the spread of a state of chaos and chaos under the auspices of the armed tribal and regional formations.

It is regrettable that all efforts, attempts, and initiatives have not succeeded in ending the division that has been existing and expanding, and is expanding not only in the geographical and institutional space, but also in the field of awareness, culture, and patterns of behavior. The fact of its existence and with its consequences.

The strange thing about our topic is that most of the political forces responsible for the occurrence and continuity of the division talk about the necessity of ending it as a top priority, and they have responded to, appreciated and approved various initiatives, and here we have to stress that whoever bears the responsibility for the division is not only the two major factions, but also, in varying degrees, all the forces, factions and institutions of society. Al-Madani, not because it contributed to its occurrence, but rather because it coexisted with this abnormal reality and was unable to influence it, whether because it brought itself to the point of impotence, or because it preferred safety and joining under the wing of one of the two major factions.

We can talk about many reasons for the continuation of the division, including the interests that were formed and flourished under it, which are material and moral interests, privileges and positions of influence and exclusivity in decision-making, and the temptations to get rid of the burden of partnership. Nor can we ignore the external interference in perpetuating the division, the most prominent and most dangerous of which is the Israeli role, which Netanyahu recognized when he acknowledged that the division represents a strategic interest for Israel. It has been proven that this opinion is not just a passing jurisprudence or a partisan position, but rather the position of all the institutions of the occupying state.

It is difficult to limit the damage caused by the division and present its disastrous results: whether it was on the future of the Palestinian national cause and its status, or on the various aspects of the daily life of millions of Palestinians in the homeland and diaspora, but what we have achieved can be evidenced by the results of US President Joe Biden’s recent visit to the region, which reduced the issue The Palestinian state in some promises, facilities and humanitarian aid, and removed the issue of ending the occupation from the agenda of the state that sponsors the supposed settlement process, after it handed it over to Israel, and a number of countries in the region implicitly agreed to that, that the Palestinian issue is an internal Israeli affair that the occupying state alone manages as a security first and economic matter Second human.

The proposed national initiatives meet on several main factors, the most prominent of which is ending division and resorting to the people through the ballot box, which confirms the centrality of these two demands. However, it can be noted that the last initiative known as the “National Salvation Initiative” put forward by a group of personalities from different directions and stripes stems from the call To stop the collapse, which indicates that ending the division is not a luxury that we choose or avoid, but rather a compulsory way to stop the descent into the abyss. The initiative stems from grasping the common denominators, and puts forward a bold vision in calling for changing the Palestinian political system, not by turning against it, but by sticking to the Palestine Liberation Organization, and involving all existing forces while recognizing the emergence and formation of new forces in Palestinian society that should be involved in the task of rebuilding institutions. National through the comprehensive elections portal.

The problem with most of the initiatives that were put forward previously is that they presented good "texts" and lacked practical mechanisms for translating texts into action on the ground, and thus remained locked up in drawers and publications. The Rescue Initiative proposes a practical mechanism, which is the formation of a temporary transitional body for a period of one year that will supervise the conduct of the elections, and it proposes a realistic formula for the formation of the Palestinian National Council that takes direct elections, and represents the popular federations, diaspora camps, and communities, and it does not deny the right of forces that do not participate in the elections for political reasons and convictions to It is represented, according to an agreed formula, in the reconstituted National Council.

In order for this initiative to turn into an influential practical force, it must be transferred from offices and forums to the street and society, and owned by the real stakeholders in ending the division and rebuilding the political system on a democratic basis, and in a way that contributes to restoring the people’s vitality and their active forces in the struggle for freedom and independence. This initiative must be transferred to youth, associations, trade unions, vocational and women's unions, the masses of refugees in the homeland and the diaspora, and the frameworks of the expatriate communities, and the formation of a state of continuous and growing pressure on all decision-making circles.

Hamas warns of the danger of holding an economic summit

Gaza - "Jerusalem" dot com - Hamas warned today, Tuesday, of the danger of responding to what is being announced about arrangements for holding a Palestinian-Israeli economic "summit", at a time when the occupation continues its war of Judaization and settlement against our land, our people and our sanctities.

Hamas spokesman, Hazem Qassem, considered that accepting this path is tantamount to surrendering to the suspicious plans of the occupation, under the title of the so-called "economic peace."

Qassem explained that this encourages the occupation to impose more fait accompli steps that detract from national rights and constants and perpetuate its occupation agenda.

The Israeli army and the illusion of military ethics and the lie of the purity of their weapons

Written by: Prisoner Hamada Dramneh

The concept of military ethics usually raises a wide intellectual debate among thinkers and researchers, as some people do not agree with the illogical link between the destructive military machine and morals, so how can the army, with its deadly operations, have morals?! The term military ethics has a strange association with another term, which is the purity of weapons. Here, too, the same question comes back to mind: How can a deadly and destructive weapon be pure?!

The field of dealing with the term "ethics of the army" and the purity of its weapons has been developed. To include soldiers in situations that confront them as individuals or groups, and how do they use the military decision? And in what form will they implement it? And what are its results?! What is meant in the general sense of the concept of purity of arms is the restrained use of weapons, without causing unnecessary injuries to human life or what is related to it when executing tasks, and preserving the sanctity of human life. The purity of arms comes first through the availability of military ethics.

Although the issue of purity of arms and military ethics is marred by an atmosphere of silence and concealment, this issue has always been a subject of great interest to researchers and thinkers in the case of the Israeli army. In addition to that, political confusion and questions about issues and massacres committed by many Zionist gangs and the Israeli army against Arabs and Palestinians a lot.

If we go back in history to the year 1948, when the Palestinians were displaced and uprooted from their homes at gunpoint; We will find that this destruction and displacement falls within the immoral and inhumane space. Studies carried out by a number of historians - including Israelis - such as Ilan Pappe have proven that what the Israelis did, whether with their organizations or their regular army, was not within the limits of purity of arms and restraint, and this The opposite of what the Zionist novels and literature are trying to show by highlighting the personality of the Israeli warrior through the terms of self-restraint and purity of arms as a soldier different from the barbaric and bloodthirsty Arab who is quick to anger.

It is worth noting that the Zionist organizations, and later the Israeli army, occupied the Palestinian land in 1948 and the years that followed, and this could not have been accomplished except by force of arms, and with successive acts of military violence against the Palestinians by frightening them of the tyranny of the Jews, and spreading terror and panic in them, and he expressed Many Zionist leaders and their soldiers expressed their love for weapons, in such a way that the reader can notice the lack of purity of weapons and lack of self-restraint. In this, one of the soldiers is a member of the Givati Brigade of the Israeli army who participated in the continuous crimes committed against the Palestinians in 1948. He is Isaac Ondak, who He told Haaretz in 2004 of the massacres that had taken place: "There were two hundred villages and they were all wiped out. They had to be destroyed, otherwise we would have had Arabs here like in the Galilee, and we would have had a million more Palestinians."

The list of massacres carried out by the Israeli army against the Palestinians is long, and it is possible to go back to it and study it and learn about these crimes committed by looting, looting and killing, in addition to displacement. This behavior practiced by the Israeli soldier was not an individual act or far from the eyes of the Israeli military and political leadership. Discussing this in his private house in the year 1947 until the declaration of the state - all the plans that must be implemented, which include committing many crimes and massacres against the Palestinian people and their property, which would not have taken place except with a green light from him and his advisory body.

It should be noted that this advisory body, which was formed by Ben-Gurion, had the purpose of conspiring and planning to expel the Palestinians, through the Zionist military organizations that were formed and were the nucleus of the Israeli army that was formed in 1948. The list of these advisors included the highest-ranking officers in the Israeli army, such as Moshe Dayan. And Yitzhak Rabin.

In this context, we explain the immoral behavior towards the Palestinians by the Israeli army. The Israeli soldier does not feel remorse towards the hundreds of thousands of expelled, displaced, and murdered Palestinians, because he was brought up on the belief that what he is carrying out is a military goal that will lead to the establishment of the Jewish state, killing, displacement, demolishing homes, and emptying The population will preserve the borders of that state, and thus he will keep it pure and pure, and in the end he will appear as a hero, and he will be rewarded and deserve a new medal, even if it is stained with the blood of the innocent.

After 1967, the Israeli army felt the euphoria of victory, which in turn deepened its warlike spirit. Violence in all its forms became an inherent routine among the soldiers. According to this spirit, all the soldiers of the Israeli army, including its commanders, units, and divisions, carry out their military tasks in the field. This aggressive warlike spirit appeared to represent This behavior of the Israeli soldier, when the stone uprising broke out on (December 9, 1987), when among the orders issued by Yitzhak Rabin to the Israeli army soldiers was to "hit them" and "break their bones". 43,355 injuries were recorded, including shooting Rubber bullets were fired at residents of villages, cities, and camps in the first half of the first year of the Intifada. Forty thousand cases of arrest were also carried out, and seventy leaders were exiled, in addition to the implementation of administrative rulings for mayors and local councils without filing indictments against them.

The Israeli occupation army used organized terrorism in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, through special units of the army - not the undercover ones - storming the villages, expelling the residents and killing them. These units hunted their victims without trying to arrest them, according to human rights reports; The Arabists killed more than 110 Palestinians from the beginning of the first intifada until November 1992.

This aggressiveness and lack of restraint continued in the Israeli army when, in 1996, it bombed more than 300 villages and cities in southern Lebanon, in a battle that bore the name "The Grapes of Wrath". Where this army displaced 400 thousand citizens who fled to the north towards Beirut, killed more than 200 civilians, and destroyed more than 200 homes, all this in addition to the Israeli army soldiers on (April 18) of the same year bombing the village of Qana, killing 104 citizens, including 19 a boy and a girl.

It seems that the Israeli society then fell into the arms of Sharon from the beginning of the second Al-Aqsa Intifada in 2000, which indicated the continued adherence to the approach of racism, oppression and brutality to implement the project through which the military and political leadership in Israel is delusional to restore the elements of stability and safety for the Jew. who bore the name of Sharon; It is the covert scheme working to liquidate the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people by killing, uprooting and deporting. This criminal policy was applied and implemented by the military arms of the Israeli army when it targeted the child Muhammad al-Durra in full view of the world, and when it once again killed the infant Iman Hajjo in the Al-Aqsa Intifada.

Despite what we hear now in the media about the opposition of the Israeli parties to each other in the formation of the Knesset, or that there will be new elections or the continuation of the current situation, there is one basic position that all Zionists from the right and the left unanimously agree on, which is the liquidation of the Palestinian people without exception, which is what It confirms the killing of journalist Sherine Abu Aqleh, who was not spared by the Israeli army's bullets. Sherine, who was killed with the same weapon that they claim to be pure! This weapon has been contaminated with the blood of the Palestinian people since 1948 until the present day.

We note here, dear reader, that, while writing this article, the Israeli occupation soldiers, at the entrance to Al-Arroub camp, north of Hebron, executed the young journalist Ghufran Warasneh (31 years old) in cold blood, so that this army recorded a new crime in its list of crimes against humanity.

These crimes, massacres and assassinations that the Israeli army carried out - and are still carrying out - are evidence of the denial of the concept of its military ethics and the purity of its weapons. This requires setting up mechanisms and deriving professional, legal, and media means to expose and expose this army, which boasts of its military ethics and the purity of its weapons. Many are the aggressive practices that were committed against the Palestinian people, including killing, demolishing homes, confiscating lands, and expanding settlements. In the hands of this army, the time has come for its officers to be introduced. And its soldiers are subject to international trials for these crimes, as they are war crimes against humanity that necessitate considering this army an extremist terrorist army, and their army is nothing but heresies and propaganda, a delusion lived by the Israeli military establishment and its security arms.

Israel's democracy is in danger

Written by: Professor Alon Ben-Meir
By all accounts, Israel is a "democratic" state, but a closer look at its internal political combustion unfortunately reveals that Israel's democracy is in tatters and its cohesiveness is being torn apart. This is due to the abject failure of political leaders to muster their collective ingenuity and energy to answer the call of the hour.

Israel is now in the midst of its fifth election in four years. None of the coalition governments formed during this period lasted more than a year. why is that ? The answer is rather simple yet deeply troubling. Although political parties are generally divided into two camps, the left and the right, approximately fifteen political parties are vying for the 120 seats in the Knesset (parliament). Most, but not all, will pass the 3.25 percent threshold to qualify for a minimum of four seats. Political disputes in Israel center around personalities rather than politics: who gets what position in the government, how to lure or bribe this leader or the leader of the other party to join the government, which ministry rival politicians want to fill (regardless of qualifications), and promised funds for benefit projects. Subjectively, the list goes on. And to top it all off, every president of every party feels most qualified to become prime minister, yet none of them can articulate a clear national agenda to put the nation on a firm path to protect its democracy and political stability.

The gravest threat to Israeli democracy, however, is the utter failure of all party leaders to recognize that the country is polarized and divided almost evenly between the anti-Netanyahu and pro-Netanyahu blocs (which align largely but not exclusively with the left and right), and that none of the political blocs has Able to form an effective coalition government with a stable majority in the Knesset. Nowadays numerous opinion polls conducted on an almost daily basis show that the outcome of the upcoming elections will not be much different, with the two rival blocs hovering around 57 and 59 seats, and the country may have to endure another grueling cycle of elections and still end up with the same political make-up. almost.

One might think that under these circumstances - when the state is existentially threatened by a nuclear-armed Iran, when violence boils over in the West Bank and Palestinian casualties mount, when the prospect of a Palestinian uprising on an unprecedented scale becomes increasingly believable, and when Extremist groups such as Islamic Jihad and Hezbollah pose a danger everywhere, when social cohesion is severely lacking, when poverty is widespread and the social fabric weakens - the leaders of all parties will come to their senses and put the interest of the "nation" above their own and those of their parties. One would expect these leaders to together seek common ground and reach consensus to address pressing issues facing the nation. But that's not the whole point for them.
The extent of Israel's political malaise and the erosion of its democracy could not be better illustrated than under the distasteful former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. No prime minister in Israel's history has been so corrupt or stooped so low to make his way as Netanyahu. His lust for power is boundless. He faces three criminal charges and is willing to destroy the judiciary to hide these charges. He is willing to sell the soul of the “nation” to the likes of Itamar Ben Gvir, the fascist, Kahane leader of Otzma Yehudit who is known to seek the expulsion of all Palestinians from Israel, as long as he can help Netanyahu form the next government.

So, when you have a country that has been ruled in succession for over 12 years by a fanatic like Netanyahu who can still form the new government, you know that Israel's democracy is in chronic distress and needs major political remedies. Just like here in the United States, if the Republican Party can cheat its way through the electoral elite and Trump, the most morally bankrupt former president, wins the next presidential election in 2024, our democracy will be shattered and the American dream will fade and die. Israel could face the same fate under Netanyahu. Thus, if Netanyahu has an iota of dignity and an iota of concern for the future of Israel, he should step aside, face the court with poise and ask for forgiveness, and President Herzog may pardon him for his service to the nation. This will pave the way for the formation of a stable, broad-based coalition government that can tolerate and take care of the urgent issues of the state.

Israel today, more than at any other time in its history, is in dire need of a leader who is decent, honest, courageous, visionary, and decisive to answer the call of the hour. Yair Lapid meets some of the attributes mentioned above. He has shown an exemplary ability to make the necessary compromises to reach a consensus in Israel's interest. He is politically savvy and has shown this in his meetings and dealings with world leaders. He showed his courage when he declared at the United Nations General Assembly that a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict remained the only viable option. He has spoken out bravely again and again against the occupation and its depressing effect on the entire country, he has fervently called for equality between Israeli Jews and Arabs, and has called for the removal of the poor from their miserable lives. Finally, Lapid sought to nurture a healthy and cohesive society, the beating heart that sustains democracy.

This round of elections may be the most significant since Israel occupied the West Bank in 1967. Every political leader, regardless of his political leanings, must ask himself what kind of country Israel should be in 10 to 15 years. Israelis want unity of purpose, and they want to preserve their democracy, prosperity, security and peace.

Normalizing relations with more Arab countries is of paramount importance and should be pursued, but it will not save Israel's democracy. He will not be able to use Israel's new and brilliant technologies to buy political influence abroad, however desirable, nor multiply its trade with foreign countries, which is so vital to Israel's economy and should be further expanded, nor maintain its military prowess and credible deterrence, which is something Crucial to national security, nor their remarkable progress in nearly every field of endeavour, including medicine, agronomy, chemistry, military innovations, engineering, electronics, and many others, outstanding achievements of which every Israeli should be proud, all of which are capable of salvaging Israel democracy. Indeed, no matter how important all of the above are to the state, none of them will preserve and preserve Israel's democracy.

Israel cannot secure and sustain its democracy unless political leadership generates social cohesion and equality with a functioning political system that provides political stability where national interests come first. Moreover, Israel cannot and never will be a true free and democratic nation until it ends the infamous occupation that abuses Israel at every turn. It is certainly the Achilles' heel that will ultimately make or break Israel's democracy.

Extension of isolation measures in two areas to limit the spread of Ebola in Uganda

Kampala - (AFP) - Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni decided on Saturday to extend for 21 days the isolation measures imposed in two areas that are the epicenter of the spread of the Ebola virus that has killed 55 people in the country, but at the same time he confirmed that his transmission is being limited.

On September 20, the Ugandan authorities announced an outbreak of the virus, which had spread to the capital, Kampala. But health authorities said this week that the number of Ebola cases had decreased.

Mubindi and Kasanda districts, which are at the epicenter of the disease, were placed under 21-day lockdown on October 15. These measures, which include a night curfew, a travel ban, and the closure of markets, bars and churches, were extended on November 5.

President Museveni announced the extension of the procedures for the third time, for a period of 21 days, stressing that the situation "remains fragile."

In a speech to the nation read by his deputy, Jessica Alupo, he said, "If we open now and a casualty appears, we will have destroyed all the gains made in this war."

"Therefore, I call for calm and understanding," he added, stressing that "our health sector workers will continue to do everything to save lives and end the epidemic."

According to WHO standards, the epidemic ends when no infection is recorded within 42 days, twice the incubation period of the Ebola virus.

Health Minister Jane Ruth Assinge told AFP this week that the number of new infections recorded was declining, stressing that there were indications that Uganda was "winning" the battle.

The WHO office in Uganda said Thursday that as of November 22, no infection had been reported for the previous nine days in Kampala, the previous 10 days in Mubindi and the previous 12 days in Kasanda.

According to Ugandan Ministry of Health figures, the epidemic has claimed the lives of 55 people for the 141 who contracted the virus.

When will the Jews realize that the future is ours despite all the challenges?

Jerusalem Hadith
Yesterday morning, the occupation forces killed two young men at the town of Hawara in the Nablus governorate, and the number of martyrs within one week reached ten. At the same time, the arrests and demolition orders in Jerusalem do not stop, as is the case with settlement construction, land confiscation, and the displacement of citizens throughout the West Bank, and Jerusalem in particular. .

The New York Times confirms that since the beginning of this month, the occupation has closed or limited access to nine main roads in the West Bank in its endeavor to stifle the movement of citizens and harass them. The occupied Israeli government hastened to criticize the president of this organization and described her as anti-Semitic, and this is an absurd and ridiculous position because this organization is affiliated with the United Nations, which means that the occupation government believes that the largest official international organization is anti-Semitic and this is a crooked and blind logic that no one accepts, but it is a policy Israeli arrogance and the madness of power and influence know neither logic nor laws, and understand only the language of force.

An opinion poll conducted a few days ago showed that 57% of the Jews are not optimistic about the future of Israel's national security and do not trust the results of the Knesset elections that will take place next Tuesday, and they believe that the future is not positive in the medium or long term.

Many thinkers and political leaders, both Jews and others, have said that the Palestinian presence, the increasing numbers, and the adherence to rights and land are all facts that require Israel to reconsider its policies and work to accept the Palestinian national demands until peace and justice are achieved and two Israeli and Palestinian states are established and this unjust occupation that will not end. The Middle East in general, and our region in particular, only leads to more bloodshed, tension and wars, whether time is long or short. Do they realize this, or are they drowning in a slumber of arrogance?!

At the gates of the North Pole... a world reeling

(AFP) - Trailer dog breeder David Dailey lives at the gates of the Arctic in Canada in a world that is changing a lot, which prompts him to assert, "Earth will punish us for everything we put it through."

In the remote town of Churchill, along Hudson Bay, where the climate is warming three times faster than anywhere else in the world, the ice floes are slowly disappearing.

Like his mulatto ancestors, one of Canada's three indigenous peoples, the 59-year-old lives in harmony with nature, surrounded by his 46 dogs, at the end of the tundra and the beginning of the arctic forest.

Year after year, a continuous delay in snowfall is feared. "My dogs are waiting for winter like all of us. This culture is on the verge of extinction," he says.

Summer and winter, David Daily wanders around this region known for its aurora borealis, where he practices fishing and closely monitors changes in the animal and plant resources.

The man who introduces tourists to Aboriginal activities recounts, "When I was a child I hunted fish, animals and birds and I didn't find many deer, but now they are everywhere. The same goes for the slender-tailed and pine-pricked heather. .."

This saying coincides with the results of scientific studies stating that climate warming endangers arctic species, especially by opening the doors to other animals coming from the south. Here, animals, like plants, migrate north.

And David Daily asserts that humans have "no choice" but to "adapt" like animals.

Adaptation is especially through a different coexistence with one of the symbols of this region, the polar bear.

During the Cold War, the city, which housed a now-abandoned US-Canadian military facility, had to be ready to fend off a possible Soviet attack across the Arctic. Today, the population is afraid of this sniper animal.

A warming climate is shortening the period during which Hudson Bay is frozen, forcing the region's white bears to stay longer than before on land during the summer. This means that the months of coexistence with humans are the longest, which pushes the carnivorous animal to move closer and closer to the city.
Hikers around Churchill should carry a gun and deterrent and not walk alone after dark or when visibility is poor.
Every one of the natives of this region has a story with bears. "I don't remember feeling any danger during the summer when I was young," said Danielle Daly, David's 33-year-old daughter. "It's different now. My kids can't play on the rocks along the beach like I used to."
The young woman recounts the fear she felt when, last July, she saw a bear running past her house, followed by a rotating mechanism belonging to the Manitoba Livestock Conservation Service, a few meters away.
The situation becomes more complicated during the fall, when the bears starve after a month spent on land without eating, and the seals are absent.
During the night of Halloween on October 31, a special action takes place, according to Ian Van Nest, an employee of the Livestock Conservancy.
This device intensifies patrols on the occasion of this holiday, while also using helicopters to monitor bears and allow children to collect candy.
"We may use canisters that emit a strong sound and flash that drives away the bear," Van Nest said.
The city has installed radars capable of spotting bears less than two kilometers from the city's first homes. It is able to be spotted even in fog.
Although their numbers have declined since the 1980s, the number of polar bears around Churchill is estimated to be 800... equal to the town's population.
Not everyone views climate change negatively.
The mayor of Churchill, Michael Spence, of the indigenous Cree people, stresses that "the positive points must always be looked for."
Spence says that the development of tourism and port traffic due to the high temperature "also provides opportunities for economic growth for the local population."
The presence of bears in abundance attracts thousands of tourists annually to this remote area in the province of Manitoba, which is inaccessible to cars.
Melting sea ice allows ships to stay longer in the city's harbour, the only deep water in the Canadian Arctic.
And the mayor aspires to make it a natural outlet in the north of the country for the export of grain grown in the middle and later for the minerals that may be extracted in the Canadian Arctic regions thanks to the melting of ice.
The bulk of Canada's mineral wealth is found in this region, including diamonds, gold, uranium, tungsten, and rare earth minerals.
However, these opportunities are hindered by other repercussions of climate warming, especially the thawing of the land, which leads to a change in the natural landscape, including the railways, which impedes the transportation of raw materials to the port.
In 2017, floods caused by melting snow damaged railway lines, and train transportation was interrupted for more than 18 months. Since then, the port has witnessed slow activity.
Many houses in Churchill are dilapidated or hastily repaired. Some of them are prefabricated houses that do not appear to be much prepared to face the severe cold, with temperatures often dropping below 40 degrees Celsius during the winter.
Poverty is widespread in this city, whose indigenous population constitutes about 60% of its people (Inuit, Cree, Denny, and Khalasion). First Nations (5% of Canadians and 18% of Manitobas) live in communities that often suffer from unemployment, poor housing, and discrimination.
In this city, 64% of children live below the poverty line, which pushes the issue of environmental protection to second place in the hierarchy of concerns for some.
"We, as Indigenous peoples, must lead the process of reconciliation with our mother, Earth," asserts David Daly.
The experts of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change stressed in their report issued in March that indigenous peoples' wide knowledge of nature must be taken into account in the framework of combating climate change... especially since the lands of these peoples contain 80% of the global biodiversity.

Prisoners Authority: Extending the detention of the injured prisoner, Nishan Al-Zaben, for a period of 8 days

Ramallah - "Jerusalem" dot com - The Commission for Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs reported today, Tuesday, that the occupation court has extended the detention of the injured prisoner Nishan Al-Zaben from the eastern town of Al-Mazra'a, northeast of Ramallah, for a period of 8 days to complete the investigation.

The commission, quoting its lawyer, stated that the court session was held in absentia without the wounded prisoner Al-Zaben, because his health condition does not allow him to be transferred from the hospital to the court.

It indicated that the prisoner Nishan had been wounded by Israeli army bullets in the chest and legs.

British Post unveils first stamps featuring Charles III

London - (AFP) - Britain's Royal Mail (Royal Mail) on Wednesday unveiled the first stamps bearing the image of Charles III , who became king after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, on September 8.

The authority said in a statement that the stamps will be put up for sale as of April 4, and the king has approved the design, "as is the case with all new stamp designs."

The new image is a modified version of a portrait by sculptor Martin Jennings for the Royal Mint, the body responsible for minting British coins.

The image shows the new monarch looking to the left, against a background that ranges in color from purple to green and navy, depending on the different types of stamps, according to the post office statement.

The new stamps will replace those depicting Queen Elizabeth II, which were designed by sculptor Arnold Machen in the 1960s and have become "an iconic symbol of the United Kingdom around the world, used billions of times", according to the British Postal Service.

However, existing stamps bearing the late queen's image will still be for sale and usable, to "reduce the environmental impact" of the change to the throne.

"In a unique feature, the name of the country of origin is not printed on British stamps because the image of the king is sufficient," said Simon Thompson, general manager of the Royal Mail, in statements made by the authority's statement.

The first coins bearing the image of Charles III entered circulation in early December, and are now found in post offices in the country.

Also, the first banknotes bearing the image of the king were unveiled at the end of December by the Bank of England, and circulation will begin in mid-2024 in the United Kingdom.

Agreement in the European Union to punish those responsible for repression in Iran

Brussels - (AFP) - The 27 member states of the European Union have agreed to punish Iranian officials involved in suppressing demonstrations sparked by the death of the young woman, diplomatic sources said Wednesday.

The same sources said that the political agreement reached by the ambassadors of the countries in Brussels must be confirmed by the European Union foreign ministers during their meeting on Monday in Luxembourg.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen wrote on Twitter, "We asked for those responsible for the oppression of women to be held accountable. The time has come for them to be held accountable. The shocking violence to which the Iranian people are subjected cannot remain unanswered."

The European parliamentarians demanded that "Iranian officials, and in particular all individuals associated with the 'morality police', who are found to be complicit or responsible in the death of Mahsa Amini and acts of violence against demonstrators, be included in the EU's blacklist."

And individuals who are sanctioned by the European Union for violating human rights are prevented from entering the territory of the Union and their assets in member states are frozen.

On April 12, 2011, the European Union approved measures to punish serious human rights violations in Iran.

Other measures were added on March 23, 2012, foremost of which is a ban on the means that can be used for internal repression and those that can be used to monitor or intercept the Internet and communications on mobile or landline networks. These penalties apply until 2023.
