Zelensky meets with the Sudanese army commander
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Saturday that he met during a stop in Ireland with the Sudanese army commander, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, at a time when Kiev seeks to contain Russian influence in Africa.
Zelensky wrote on X : “I am grateful to Sudan for its constant support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,”
Zelensky explained that he discussed with Al-Burhan "common challenges at the security level, especially the activities of illegal armed groups funded by Russia."
Al-Burhan called for supporting Kiev's initiatives aimed at continuing to export grains through the Black Sea, despite the Russian blockade.
He continued, "We also discussed the possibility of finding common spaces to intensify cooperation between Ukraine and African countries."
Ukraine is striving to strengthen its partnership with the countries of the African continent, hoping to contain the growing Russian influence.
