A Yemeni welcome to Saudi Arabia's efforts to revive the peace process, and the Arab Parliament and Egypt welcome the prisoner exchange process

Today (Saturday) the Yemeni government welcomed the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to revive the peace process in Yemen, following the visit of a Saudi delegation to Sana'a and its meetings with the Houthis , while the Arab Parliament and Egypt welcomed the prisoner exchange process between the Yemeni government and the Houthi group.


A statement by the Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Republic of Yemen welcomes "the statement issued by the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia regarding the visit of its team to Sana'a, headed by Ambassador Muhammad Al Jaber."


The Ministry of Foreign Affairs praised "the Kingdom's continuous efforts to alleviate human suffering and revive the peace path in Yemen as an extension of its initiative announced in March 2021."


The Yemeni government "reaffirmed its support for the efforts of the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and all regional and international endeavors aimed at ending the coup, stopping the war and achieving a just and sustainable peace," according to the statement.


Last Saturday, a Saudi delegation arrived in Sana'a and held negotiations that lasted for six days with leaders of the Houthi group.


Yemen has been suffering from a bloody conflict between the government and the Houthis for more than eight years, while Saudi Arabia has led an Arab coalition against the Houthis in Yemen since 2015 in support of the internationally recognized government.


Today (Saturday), the Arab Parliament welcomed the launch of the prisoner exchange process between the Yemeni government and the Houthi group, under the auspices of the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross.

The prisoner exchange agreement between the two sides came in the wake of the reconciliation agreement between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Iran, which was sponsored and sponsored by China.


Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud and Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian met in Beijing earlier this month, and witnessed the resumption of diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran.


In the same context, Egypt today welcomed the start of the prisoner exchange process between the Yemeni government and the Houthi group, under the auspices of the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross.
In a statement on its official page on the social networking site (Facebook), the Egyptian Foreign Ministry affirmed that the exchange of prisoners represents a positive and important step, which Egypt looks forward to building on to renew the armistice in Yemen, and advance the current efforts to reach a political settlement that leads to a comprehensive and sustainable peace.
And she stressed Egypt's full support for any efforts aimed at restoring security and stability in Yemen, preserving its unity and territorial integrity, and alleviating the humanitarian crises from which the Yemeni people suffer.
Earlier today (Saturday), the process of exchanging 370 prisoners between the Houthis and the Yemeni government began, in the second day of the process, which comes in implementation of the Switzerland agreement sponsored by the United Nations, which includes the release of 887 prisoners.


The spokesman for the government team in the prisoners' negotiations, Majid Fadayel, said in a press statement that the exchange process, on its second day, began this morning, as it will include the release of 370 prisoners.


Fadayel explained that the exchange process today will take place through 6 flights operated by the International Committee of the Red Cross from the airports of Sana'a and Mocha in Yemen and Abha and Riyadh in Saudi Arabia.
