The Saudi Crown Prince announces the establishment of “Riyadh Airlines”

In a step that ushers in a new phase of growth, expansion and competitiveness in air transport services in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz , Crown Prince, Prime Minister and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Public Investment Fund, announced the establishment of “ Riyadh Airlines ” as a national carrier. New, to contribute to the development of the air transport sector, and to strengthen the Kingdom's strategic location, which connects three of the most important continents of the world; Asia, Africa and Europe, and work to raise the competitiveness of national companies in accordance with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

Riyadh Air aims to launch flights to more than 100 destinations around the world by 2030, and plans to provide exceptional levels of integrated services.

The establishment of “Riyadh Air”, which will be based in the city of Riyadh, comes within the framework of the Public Investment Fund’s strategy to unleash the potential of promising sectors locally to support the diversification of the economy. to 75 billion riyals ($20 billion), and the creation of more than 200,000 direct and indirect job opportunities.

Riyadh Airlines and King Salman International Airport are among the latest investments of the Public Investment Fund in the aviation sector aimed at raising the financial sustainability of the aviation sector system and enhancing its global competitiveness. In order to achieve the goals of "Saudi Vision 2030".

According to the announcement, the board of directors of "Riyadh Aviation" will be chaired by the Governor of the Public Investment Fund, Yasser bin Al-Rumayyan, while Tony Douglas, who has more than 40 years of experience in the transport, aviation and logistics sector, has been appointed as CEO of the company.
