Continuous Israeli Violations in Southern Lebanon and Widespread Destruction Hampering Life in Nabatieh

The pace of Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement in southern Lebanon has escalated, with warplanes launching a raid targeting the town of Mansouri in the Tyre district. This attack resulted in varying injuries to a citizen, who was subsequently transferred to hospitals in the city of Tyre for necessary treatment amidst a state of field tension.

Local sources reported that a drone belonging to the occupation army dropped a sound bomb near a civilian vehicle in the city of Nabatieh, causing injuries among those present at the scene due to the explosion. This tactic is part of an intimidation policy adopted by the occupation since the cessation of large-scale military operations to push residents away from their areas.

Violations were not limited to air raids but extended to include intense fire sweeping operations using heavy machine guns in the towns of Hadatha, Al-Tiri, and Konin. Field sources stated that sounds of massive explosions were heard in the early morning hours inside the town of Konin, indicating continued Israeli ground military activity at those points.

In the city of Nabatieh, which is the economic and cultural nerve center of southern Lebanon, the extent of the massive destruction that befell its historical market and vital facilities has been revealed. This market, which has existed for decades and housed hundreds of shops, is now rubble, reflecting the brutality of the recent Israeli war that directly targeted the city's infrastructure.

Currently, the city is witnessing a timid and limited return of its residents who were displaced during the confrontations, under extremely complex living conditions. Despite the announcement of a ceasefire, the continuous overflight of drones and intermittent raids instill fear in the returning residents and limit the movement to restore normal life in residential neighborhoods.

On the services front, Lebanese government agencies are making diligent efforts to rehabilitate damaged essential facilities to ensure the continued presence of residents. Technical teams were able to restore water pumping to Nabatieh neighborhoods two days ago, in a first step towards alleviating the suffering of residents who endured inside the city despite the shelling.

As for the energy sector, it witnessed a slight improvement with the return of electricity through the official state grid yesterday, albeit for very limited supply hours. In contrast, private generator networks, on which citizens primarily rely, remain out of service, increasing the difficulty of operating the remaining establishments.

Commercial activity in central Nabatieh is suffering from a near-total paralysis, as most shops and economic institutions remain closed due to destruction or lack of resources. Residents are struggling to secure their basic living needs with great difficulty, amidst the rubble of buildings that once formed a vibrant commercial center.

Field reports indicate that the occupation seeks, through these continuous violations, to create a de facto buffer zone by preventing residential stability. Sweeping operations and firing towards border residential neighborhoods occur daily, representing a clear violation of international understandings that sponsored the cessation of hostilities.

In light of this bitter reality, the reliance remains on the ability of Lebanese institutions to accelerate reconstruction efforts and provide security for returning residents. Eyes are turned towards the international community to pressure the occupation authorities to stop their violations and ensure the implementation of ceasefire provisions to protect civilians in southern villages and cities.

The occupation resorts to using sound bombs with the aim of displacing residents and preventing them from returning to their homes in border areas.
