Occupation closes Al-Tadamon Charitable Society in Nablus and escalates incursions in the West Bank

Israeli occupation forces stormed the city of Nablus in the northern occupied West Bank early this Tuesday morning, targeting the headquarters of Al-Tadamon Charitable Society on Al-Adl Street. The military forces confiscated all contents of the headquarters, including computers, offices, and technical equipment, in addition to seizing in-kind aid designated for needy families and orphans in the area.

Following the search and confiscation operation, which lasted for several hours, the occupation authorities issued a military order to close the society for a full year, citing security pretexts claiming the institution supports hostile entities. The invading forces left widespread destruction in the building's facilities before withdrawing, which sparked a wave of local condemnation of practices targeting the infrastructure of humanitarian work.

For his part, Nablus Governor Ghassan Daghlas, during an inspection tour of the headquarters, stressed that these repressive measures will not succeed in deterring national institutions from fulfilling their duty towards vulnerable groups. Daghlas explained that targeting charitable societies is part of a broader plan to undermine the steadfastness of citizens and deprive them of essential services provided by civil society organizations amidst difficult economic conditions.

In a related context, local sources reported that occupation forces carried out a military operation in the town of Yatta, south of Hebron, which included a strict closure of main and secondary entrances. Military bulldozers used earth mounds and concrete blocks to cut off the road connecting Yatta and Samu, obstructing the movement of citizens and preventing them from reaching their workplaces and health centers.

Similar incursions occurred in the town of Beitunia, west of Ramallah, where a military force raided the home of the Awadallah family, searched it, and tampered with its contents before arresting 24-year-old Anas Awadallah. These arrests are part of an intensive daily campaign launched by the occupation in various governorates of the West Bank for several months.

Israeli incursions extended to include the town of Abwein and a number of villages and towns in the western countryside of Ramallah, where military vehicles patrolled the streets amidst searches of several homes. Field sources confirmed that these movements aim to intimidate residents and impose a policy of collective punishment, coinciding with escalating field tensions throughout the Palestinian territories.

Human rights reports indicate that the pace of targeting civil society institutions and relief organizations has significantly increased in conjunction with the ongoing aggression on the Gaza Strip. Observers believe that the occupation seeks, through these closures, to dry up the sources of charitable and social work, exacerbating the humanitarian crises suffered by Palestinians under the weight of the occupation.

Targeting charitable institutions will not stop their work in helping the poor and orphans, and the closure falls within a systematic policy to undermine social services.
