U.S. President Donald Trump said on Saturday that the ceasefire in Gaza will take effect as soon as Hamas agrees to the initial withdrawal line of the Israeli army from the sector.
He added in a post on his platform "Truth Social": "After negotiations, Israel agreed to the initial withdrawal line that we presented to Hamas and informed them about it."
He continued: "When Hamas confirms its agreement, the ceasefire will take effect immediately, the prisoner exchange will begin, and we will prepare the conditions for the next phase of withdrawal, which will bring us closer to the end of this disaster," without providing further details.
Since dawn on Saturday, the Israeli army has killed 60 Palestinians, including a child, and injured others in continuous attacks on the Gaza Strip, ignoring the U.S. President's call on Friday evening to stop the bombardment of the sector immediately.
For his part, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Saturday evening that he instructed the negotiating team to head to Egypt "for negotiations that will last for days" to reach an agreement regarding the Gaza Strip based on the U.S. President's plan.
Earlier today, Egypt announced it would host delegations from Israel and Hamas next Monday to discuss the details of the prisoner exchange according to Trump's plan.
On September 29, Trump announced a plan consisting of 20 points, including: the release of Israeli prisoners in Gaza, a ceasefire, and the disarmament of Hamas.
During a press conference with the U.S. President at the White House last Monday, Netanyahu announced "support for Trump's plan," considering it "achieves the Israeli objectives of the war."
On Friday evening, Hamas stated in a statement that it had delivered its response to Trump's plan regarding Gaza to the mediators, announcing its agreement to release all living and deceased Israeli prisoners.
It also renewed its agreement to hand over the administration of the sector to a Palestinian body of independents (technocrats) based on Palestinian national consensus and supported by Arab and Islamic backing.
However, Hamas confirmed that the future of the Gaza Strip and the rights of the people will be discussed within a Palestinian framework, emphasizing its "readiness to enter immediately, through mediators, into negotiations to discuss the details of that."
In his comment on Hamas's response, Trump said in a post on his platform "Truth Social": "Based on the statement issued by Hamas, I believe they are ready for a lasting peace," calling on Tel Aviv to "stop the bombardment of Gaza immediately."
Ignoring Trump's call to stop the bombardment immediately, Israel continues to commit massacres as part of the ongoing genocide against the Gaza Strip, having killed about 60 Palestinians, including a child, and injured others in continuous attacks on the sector since dawn on Saturday.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with U.S. support, has been committing genocide in Gaza, resulting in 67,074 deaths and 169,430 injuries, most of whom are children and women, and a famine that has claimed the lives of 459 Palestinians, including 154 children.
When Hamas confirms its agreement, the ceasefire will take effect immediately.
