The Turkish activist and journalist Arsin Cilek, who was part of the "Global Resilience Fleet," confirmed that the Israelis severely tortured the Swedish activist Greta Thunberg "in front of the eyes of the other activists."
This was stated by Cilek in an interview with "CNN Türk" after his arrival at Istanbul Airport on Saturday, coming from Ramon Airport in Israel along with 136 members of the Resilience Fleet.
Cilek said that the Israelis "severely tortured Greta (Thunberg, the Swedish activist) in front of us. They treated her unjustly; Greta is a small child. They forced her to crawl and kiss the Israeli flag; they did the same thing that the Nazis did."
On Saturday, a Turkish Airlines plane arrived in Istanbul from Ramon Airport in the Israeli city of Eilat, carrying 137 activists, including 36 Turks and 23 Malaysians, who were part of the "Global Resilience Fleet" that was attacked and detained by Israel in international waters.
As of Wednesday evening, Israeli authorities seized 42 ships belonging to the Global Resilience Fleet while they were sailing in international waters towards Gaza, and arrested hundreds of international activists on board.
The fleet issued a distress call after the Israeli army attacked its ships in international waters, considering this escalation a "war crime."
This is the first time that dozens of ships have sailed together towards Gaza, which is home to about 2.4 million Palestinians, in a collective attempt to break the ongoing Israeli blockade of the territory for 18 years.
Since October 7, 2023, the occupying army, with American support, has been committing genocide in Gaza, resulting in 67,074 martyrs and 169,430 injured, most of whom are children and women, and famine that has claimed the lives of 459 Palestinians, including 154 children.
