Trump: I believe we are close to reaching some agreement regarding Gaza.

U.S. President Donald Trump expressed his belief that an agreement regarding Gaza is close to being reached. This came during his meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Thursday at the White House.

Trump stated that he had a very good meeting with President Erdoğan and other leaders regarding Gaza at the United Nations headquarters. He added, "I think we are on the verge of reaching some agreement."

Regarding U.S.-Turkish relations, Trump noted that Washington has extensive trade relations with Ankara. He added, "Turkey makes great products; we buy a lot from them, and they buy a lot from us."

Trump praised the Turkish president, saying they have been friends for a long time, and that "Erdoğan is a very respected person and is held in high regard in his country and throughout Europe and the world."

He continued: "President Erdoğan is highly respected by (Russian counterpart Vladimir) Putin and (Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr) Zelensky, and everyone respects him, and I do too."

Trump pointed out that "President Erdoğan has built a great army," expressing his honor in hosting him at the White House.

He added: "President Erdoğan is responsible for the success of the struggle to overthrow former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad."
