Talk about the conflict in the world.. The trial of the accused in the attempted assassination of Trump has begun.

The trial of Ryan Roth, accused of attempting to assassinate Donald Trump at a golf course in Florida in 2024, began yesterday, Thursday, two months before the presidential elections, after a jury was selected over three days.

Judge Aileen Cannon allowed Ryan Roth (59 years old) in July to represent himself without a lawyer. Roth pleaded not guilty to five charges, including the attempted assassination of a presidential candidate, which could carry a life sentence, and his trial is expected to last between two to four weeks.

Roth also faces charges of illegal possession of a firearm due to his criminal record, possession of a firearm with an unclear serial number, possession of a firearm for the purpose of committing a violent crime, and assaulting a federal agent.

American media reported that the judge interrupted his opening statement, in which he addressed the history of humanity and global conflicts, just minutes into it. Roth also faces charges of illegal possession of a firearm due to his criminal record.

After 45 minutes of prosecution arguments, the judge asked Roth to respect the 'dignity of the court,' but he continued in the same manner, prompting Cannon to announce to the jury—consisting of 12 people—the end of the opening statements and requested the prosecution to call the first witness.

Roth's trial comes at a time of increasing concern about political violence in the United States, following the killing of activist Charlie Kirk during an event in Utah, western United States.

On September 15, 2024, agents from the Secret Service, responsible for protecting high-profile American political figures, spotted Roth carrying a weapon near the golf course where Trump was present, and he was subsequently arrested.

This was the second time Trump faced an assassination attempt, having survived another one on July 13, 2024, during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania.
