Israeli readings on the aggression against Qatar and the attempted assassination of Hamas leaders

Hours after the announcement of the Israeli aggressive attack on Qatar targeting Hamas leadership, many analytical readings were issued regarding this new aggression, which targets a new Arab capital, considering it the broadest air force attack on Hamas officials abroad. This raises the question of U.S. President Donald Trump's approval of an attack on the territory of his allies, and how this aggression will affect the negotiations for the exchange deal.

Military correspondent Nir Dafouri mentioned that "carrying out an operation like the attack on Qatar requires very precise and good intelligence, and the ability to direct weapons at the target. Therefore, this matter has been built over time, in the arms of the air force and the intelligence agency led by the Shin Bet, in addition to the military intelligence branch. The opportunity was extremely narrow, to strike those who need it, not those who do not need it, under the pretext that the occupation is in the process of dismantling this axis. Therefore, the operation in Qatar holds great significance, as targeting Hamas leadership in Qatar could have severe consequences."

For his part, Ohad Haimo, the channel's correspondent for Palestinian affairs, confirmed that "Hamas leaders have been a target of the attack for a long time, and they are the core of its leadership. They occupy its political office and handle all the most important portfolios: Gaza, negotiations, attacks in the West Bank, relations with the world, and more. I do not think there is a precedent for this because there are two places where the occupation has so far avoided targeted assassinations due to political sensitivity: one is of course Turkey, and the other is Qatar. Therefore, Hamas leaders felt safe in both places, and most of them remained in Qatar, not moving to Turkey."
