Netanyahu Gets the Green Light to Control Gaza City Despite Opposition
We intend to achieve military control over the Gaza Strip completely and eliminate Hamas before handing the area over to civilian rule.
The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the security cabinet (the cabinet) has approved a proposal to take control of Gaza City. This decision is part of a plan aimed at defeating Hamas, as the occupying army prepares to take control of the city while providing humanitarian aid to civilians outside combat areas.
The five principles adopted by the security cabinet include disarming Hamas, returning all hostages, stripping the Gaza Strip of weapons, Israeli security control over the strip, and establishing an alternative civilian administration that does not follow Hamas or the Palestinian Authority. However, many ministers have confirmed that the alternative plan will not achieve its goals.
These developments coincided with massive protests across Israel, where citizens expressed their concerns about the potential risks to the lives of hostages. Despite international pressure and internal opposition, Netanyahu insists on moving forward with his plan for complete control over the besieged strip.
In previous statements, Netanyahu confirmed that Israel aims to remove Hamas from Gaza before handing the area over to civilian rule, indicating that this is the primary objective of the operation. However, he did not provide details on who will govern Gaza after the war, raising questions about the future of the region.
