U.S. Envoy Steve Witkoff Visits the Protest Site of Families of Detainees in Tel Aviv
The United States reaffirms its ongoing support for mediation efforts to secure the release of Palestinian and Israeli prisoners.
U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff visited the protest site in central Tel Aviv on Saturday, where families of Israeli detainees held in Gaza for several months are demanding the release of their loved ones.
During the meeting, Witkoff expressed his country's solidarity with the protesters' demands, affirming that the United States continues to support mediation efforts aimed at reaching an agreement that ensures the release of prisoners, whether they are Palestinian or Israeli.
This visit comes amid increasing internal pressure on Benjamin Netanyahu's government, as the families of the detainees are calling for intensified political efforts and acceptance of a prisoner exchange deal to end their children's suffering, especially with over nine months having passed in some detention cases.
This visit is an indication of the U.S. administration's interest in the prisoners' issue, as part of its broader policy to calm the situation in Gaza and work on reducing tensions between the concerned parties.
