Trump accuses Biden and Harris of inciting his assassination

Republican candidate and former US President Donald Trump accused President Joe Biden and his Vice President Kamala Harris on Monday of inciting his assassination, after Trump was shot in his vicinity in Florida, where he was playing golf, while the suspect was charged with two counts.

Trump said the assassination suspect, Ryan Wesley Roth, acted on very inflammatory language from Democrats.

The suspect was charged, as part of the investigation into the alleged assassination attempt on the former US president, with two counts of illegal possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon with a serial number erased.

Ruth is expected to face additional charges at an additional hearing at a later date, as the investigation continues.

American media reported that the suspect appeared calm and indifferent in court.

This morning, the FBI announced that Trump appeared to have been the target of an assassination attempt Sunday in Florida, while his campaign reported that he was unharmed.

The Secret Service confirmed that one or more of its agents "opened fire on a gunman" spotted on the edge of Trump's golf course, and that "an AK-47 rifle with a scope and a GoPro video camera were found."

The suspect fled in a black car but authorities tracked it down after an eyewitness identified it.

CNN and CBS reported that Roth was a self-employed builder of upscale homes in Hawaii, had a long criminal record, and regularly published articles on politics and current events, sometimes criticizing Trump.

For her part, the Democratic presidential candidate said, "I have seen reports of shootings near Trump's residence in Florida, and I am glad that it is safe and that violence has no place in America."

On July 13, Trump was the victim of an assassination attempt, and suffered a minor injury to his ear, when a young man shot him while he was giving a speech at an election rally in Pennsylvania.
