Protest against the University of Manchester's cooperation with Israel

Demonstrators sprayed red paint on a historic building belonging to the British University of Manchester to protest its cooperation with Israel.

A post by the Palestinian Action Group on the X platform, on Monday, showed red paint sprayed on the historic Whitworth Building belonging to the University of Manchester.

The group is organizing red paint protests against cooperation relations with and arms sales to Israel across the United Kingdom.

The post stated, “The University of Manchester was sprayed with red paint, which symbolizes complicity in the shedding of Palestinian blood.”

It pointed out that the University of Manchester, as part of its cooperation with the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, sends its students to do work in Jewish settlements, and it also cooperates with the company BAE Systems, which sells weapons to Israel.

The group's name has become increasingly prominent since October 7, 2023, through its protests against institutions that support Israel and companies that sell weapons to it.

The group's activists also sprayed red paint on the buildings of the Ministries of Defense and Foreign Affairs, and they are also obstructing the work of arms companies by climbing onto roofs and blocking roads.
